Another painting for the game Novus Aeterno. This image was used as a guide to show the look and general feel of the big gas and dust clouds that are to be added into the games space to make space less empty and boring. There is a huge fleet of ships breaking orbit from a planet that can just be seen behind the big dust cloud. This is the first image I did that showed off all the ships the human race has, minus a big ass one but more on that later. The ships are paint-overs of 3D models created by our very talented 3D ship modeler :iconpukey82: some adjustments were made but the basic shape was kept for accuracy.

This illustration was to give an idea of the Human ships defenses, they have shields but they are magnetic field shields similar to real world attempts at creating energy shields. The shields are invisible both when active and when hit only the fact that the explosions look different and obviously detonate before hitting the ship can you tell they have shields. The other defense is the flak system, inspired by Battlestar Gallactica the Humans in this game are very slap dash they would rather hurl hundreds of inexpensive projectiles at an area to protect against missile bombardments than spend a lot of money on creating and installing a system that is accurate and more effective. Also for shits and giggles what looks better a single shot gun or a cloud of explosions?

A promotional image done for the game Novus Aeterno by Taitale Studios who I have been working with for the past month or so on the game and with its talented team. Its a sci-fi MMORTS and will feature some pretty cool space battle.
The site is still in development but will be active in the next few weeks.

Continuing with the upload of work I have done so far working at Taitale Studios on their new MMORTS game Novus Aeterno I present to you Derelict (my balls) I did the joke here first but I know it wont stop the comments rolling in with that in them haha, also if you've never seen Zoolander you will have no idea what that means.
Anyway back on to the subject of the image, its actually a remake of a much older image I did for the game a long time ago before I was actually part of the team just doing freelance work, the old image goes by the same name and the principle is the same a giant war torn world and a wreak of a large ship in orbit.
This is one of my favorite images so far out of the pile of images I've done for the game.

Here is the latest illustration for the game Novus Aeterno, it depicts a huge open area where masses of troops are listening to what is probably a very uplifting and motivating speech about universal domination and all that jazz.
In the distance there are several dreadnought class ships but they are too big so most of them are in the clouds. not a great view from up there.

In the space between planets a huge Fusion reactor was built to satisfy the ever growing need for energy. It creates small stars which it gets energy from, this energy is then transmitted to every world in the system. The power is immense, as new stars are created using a form of laser fusion huge dust clouds swirl and ignite. When the energy form a star is depleted is shrinks and dies in a controlled and harmless way. A convoy of ships approach the station probably to offload supplies and personnel.

This is my entry to the new Luminarium Exhibit themed Energy, always wanted to make a huge machine that makes stars hehe.

Do first contact situation ever go peacefully? Of course they don't because that would be boring.
Anyway what your looking at is a first contact situation between the Humans and the first alien race to go into the game Novus Aeterno the Verunas. I have shown some of their ship designs recently and this is the first full illustration with them in so it was nice to paint something other than Human V Human.

The Verunas aren't very friendly they are the most advanced race in the game and they know it, they are big headed both physically and mentally.

Also this painting will cover a 20ft wall at out booth at PAX in April which will be rather cool to see.

And so it begins, a little behind the original planned date but we held back the goods on this game for a little longer but now begins a wave of releases and activity as we approach the games big reveal at PAX Prime 2011

I have been issued orders to release one illustration every day, work I have been doing now for some time as Senior 2D artist at Taitale Studios, some of the most epic and awesome work I have ever done are shown in these images and what better way to kick it off than with the biggest space battle image I've ever done, a panoramic view of space death, originally it had more lasers but it melted peoples eyes.

Here is the third image I have done working with Taitale Studios on their MMORTS game Novus Aeterno. Many people have been asking questions about the game "is it like EVE" "whens it out" "how much is it". Well I cant answer much except that aside from it being set in space it has very little to do with EVE, its a very different game its the first and only true MMORTS game as it has a persistent universe that never stops.
This image is my favorite, it shows a giant construction yard in space finishing off one of the dreadnought class ships, they are huge by the way. The ship is a tall ship but this POV really helped show its scale almost looking up at it.

My recent task working on the MMORTS game Novus Aeterno, along with the rest of the art team, was to make space less boring. In reality its very empty and black so we have been working on some ideas to make it feel more dynamic and interesting the first of these concepts is already in my gallery called "Solar Winds" this 2 image sheet is one of many.

The first image is one concept for a large space storm, they look similar to a double layered super cell only much larger and can span large distances as walls. They can be dangerous to ships passing through them due top frequent violent plasma discharges.
The second is a more nutty idea cooked up by our Creative Director, its called a Storm Core and it bursts into life starting small and gradually increases in size and power as shown above, it will wreak havoc in a system causing all sorts of nasty issues and limiting travel in a system until it dissipates or moves on.
