Rapunzel's Wig FAQ and an InterviewHey everyone!Rapunzel's Wig FAQ and an Interview3 years ago in Personal More Like This
It's been a while since I last checked in. In fact, it's been so long that I just realised I never posted the cosplay interview I did here (and that was in January!). Japan Cinema invited me to chat to them for a while for their cosplay corner - if you're interested, you can read about it over here.
In other news, I have finally gotten around to doing a photoshoot for Rapunzel! Thank you so much to :iconstrawdoll: for being such an amazing photographer...you're so nice to me :'D And so, since I'm about to attack you all with photos, I figured it would be a great time to finally, finally post the FAQ I've been promising for her wig. Here we go!
RAPUNZEL'S WIG - THE FAQ
Oh my god, is that your real hair?
Er, no. Really, really no.
It must be really heavy then! How much does it weigh?
This is hands down the most comm
PE Photomanip: Art with a ConceptWhat is Conceptual Art?PE Photomanip: Art with a Concept3 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Answer: Conceptual art deals with ideas rather than with the final product. It is "art in which the idea behind a particular work, and the means of producing it, are more important than the finished work." http://dictionary.com
"Conceptual art is art in which the concept(s) or idea(s) involved in the work take precedence over traditional aesthetic and material concerns." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conceptual_art
Conceptual art, a movement conceived in the 1960s, stresses the artist's concept rather than the art object itself. Conceptual art grew out of minimalism and "turned the artist's thoughts and ideas themselves into the primary artistic medium, appealing to the spectator's intellect instead of emotions." http://www.reference.com/browse/conceptual+art?s=t
Conceptual art is often confused with Surreal and Abstract because often they have some of the same elements. However, Conceptual art differs from Surreal
What's Hot (Beta): Trending Artwork on deviantARTArt on the RiseWhat's Hot (Beta): Trending Artwork on deviantART3 years ago in DeviantArt Announcements More Like This
DeviantART is a bustling and active community, and with the high volume of artwork submitted on any given day, it can be easy to miss something. In fact, it's common for artwork to go viral across the Web or get a spike of traffic days, months, or even years after it was originally submitted.
Our new “What’s Hot” browse mode surfaces artwork that’s receiving a recent increase in exposure, regardless of when it was submitted.
A New Way To Surface Artwork
We often see artwork gain a lot of attention across the Web (after being shared on blogs, social sites, etc.), but by the time this recognition occurs, our search engines don't consider it when displaying recently "Popular" deviations. The new "What’s Hot" mode is built to celebrate these surges of exposure.
What's Hot vs. Popular
The content of the “What’s Hot” page uses an algorithm that reflects what artwork has recently garnered attention, regardless of when it was subm

How to improve your skills in close-up-photographySince many people asked me how I take my pictures and why they are so "special", I would like to tell you how I manage things when I take pictures. How to improve your skills in close-up-photography3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
I. Finding the location
When I go outside to take pictures of nature, I do barely have any concepts in my mind. I just go and let nature inspire me. The first important step is finding a location. It is not that difficult to find an interesting background. I personally do prefer backgrounds which are not monochrome. Many shades of light (light and dark contrasts or different colors) make your picture interesting, no matter if the final result will be monochrome or colorful in the end.I look out for locations where not many people are. Like a big meadow in front of a house or a field or forests. (Forests do have the special plus that it does almost always have different light shadings I mentioned in 2).
II. Know your possibilities!
You have found your favourite location? Great! Many people do the mistake to

How to predict a good sunset/sunriseAs a landscape photographer you might be familiar with this one problem. You take your car or your bike to drive to a certain location for shooting the sunset/sunrise. But when you are on a location and found some great compositions the sunrise/sunset is just boring. No glow, no clouds, nothing, or just a thick dense layer of grey clouds at the horizon. Not the most photo genetic scene. How to predict a good sunset/sunrise7 years ago in Art Features More Like This
First of all. It is very hard to predict a great sunset/sundown. But you can indicate whether its goint to be a good or a bad one.
Time of sunset/sunrise
The basic is that you know what time the sun is going to set or rise and with which azimuth. Google will help you finding it easily. Personally I use this website http://hemel.waarnemen.com/applets/oponder.cgi
It only works in the Netherlands and Belgium, but I am sure there are also sites for a lot other countries (http://www.sunrisesunset.com/custom_srss_calendar.asp). It not only gives the times and azimuths, but also

Feature for Angelo Sotira's Birthday!Tomorrow, February 14, 2013, is spyed's birthday for those of you who may not know. Angelo is most likely the most dedicated deviant out there, after all, he keeps this place going. However, he is also a very kind deviant who often asks towards giving to others rather than giving to himself.Feature for Angelo Sotira's Birthday!3 years ago in Art Features More Like This

"Have no fear of perfection - You'll never reach it! "
Have you studied Photography? I'm intrigued to know whether or not a qualification in Photography has made you a better, or indeed a worse photographer. Or has there been no change? This week, The Photography Blog asks whether or not a Photography Degree is worth the paper it's written on. Graduation in any field these days doesn't mean that you'll immediately get a job in your desired area. Not these days. So is it worth embarking on study related to photography when in the end, you could get to the same place without the paper stating what you are capable of? Photography is one of a small number of job areas where what you've done speaks higher volumes than whether or not you're

Sans serif — Roman
In this article/tutorial I will show you how to design a typeface. I will cover the basics and show you how to design advanced letters as well. There is so much I can talk about though, so if people like this article I might expand on this with future articles and get more into detail. I will only cover the design though, so you will have to research how to do the spacing and programming and turn your typeface into a usable font—or wait until I might do an article on that as well, but I don’t have such an article planned anytime soon.
What will we design?
I will first show you how to design some basic letters for a geometric sans typeface like Futura, because it utilizes geometric shapes, which is always my starting point for every typeface regardless of style. O

UPDATE 8 - As of Saturday, November 17, 2012, we are at 125,125 points, with only 34,875 points left to go! I was able to purchase 2,000 points a moment ago to put directly into the pool myself. My original intent was to get 8,000, but I ended up working less than I expected this week and was unable to, but as of my next paycheck (in two weeks), I will be able to purchase 8,000! That will leave us with 26,875. And after TimberClipse's AWESOME point doubler, like the one that helped out and did so amazingly earlier in the year, that will be another 8,000, leaving us with only 18,875! And his doubler is already halfway full with much thanks to rainylake for immediately putting 2,000 points in
HeLp deviantArtHello there, we want to bring to your attention a serious problem that troubles Our Community (deviantArt) for a long time: ART THEFT. Among the loving members of dA there are people that disregard our work and steal our art and we, as a Group, encountered this problem several times before deciding to write this blog. We need you to take attitude and fight against these people because we need to protect our friends, our community and ourselves! Remember, this could happen to any of us (or probably already happened and we don't even know about it yet).HeLp deviantArt4 years ago in Personal More Like This
As a Group, We Are Against Art Thieves so they will get Banned from AllArtSupport.
If you know any deviant that is stealing other's works, leave a comment here or on lintu47's journal with its name and if possible, the stolen work with a link back to the original one, so we could expose them and let the world know what kind of people they are.
We will give you a list of known Art Thieves:
