Tip of the Day: the StruggleLearn to enjoy the struggle. Our most memorable goals we achieve in our lives are always extra special because of the many hardships we had to endure before succeeding. Those memories will be some of your fondest when you're successful. So take sometime to live in the moment and enjoy the struggle before achieving bigger and better things.Tip of the Day: the Struggle3 years ago in Personal More Like This

Tip of the Day: Doubters and HatersBefore you start off your career (or perhaps you just started your career) there tends to be more doubters and haters around you.Tip of the Day: Doubters and Haters3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Most doubters and haters lurk at the bottom because they're too fearful or ignorant to try.
Sometimes many of our biggest doubters aren't bottom lurkers but our relatives or friends. Most of the time they mean well but they are not YOU. They don't know what you are capable of.
For many people, you are your worst hater and doubter. The only way you can find what you're capable of is by trying your absolute hardest. True failure comes from not trying!

Tip for Today: When to give up?Never give up just because you don't think you're good enough. We've all had our doubts in life. Successful people do not give up easily. We must prepare and prepare again, try your very hardest and then about 50% more that you didn't know you had consistently, then keep going twice as long as you ever thought you would or could. Look for more knowledge and try again.Tip for Today: When to give up?3 years ago in Personal More Like This

Twelfth Night is the Christian festival marking the end of the Christmas season. In ancient times, it also meant that the world, upside down since Halloween, is finally turned right side up for us to begin our new year. But, more or less importantly, depending on your personal fervor for religion or world literature, it is also the title of a rollicking comedy by William Shakespeare. Written around 1601, it displays Will’s tendency to be a tad ahead of his time, featuring as it does a Countess falling in love with another young woman (albeit disguised as a boy) long before same–sex marriage coming into vogue.

COMMISSIONS: new version for my Hannya's mask! ^^NEWSCOMMISSIONS: new version for my Hannya's mask! ^^4 years ago in Personal More Like This
I just finished what's probably become my favourite mask so far among the ones I made:
It's a variation of my Hannya's mask set; the painting took much longer than expected, but I hope it was worth it! Using metallic acrylics--gold and magenta, albeit the latter shows less since I had to mix it with normal colours to get the right hue--is so fun!
As always, please remember that I accept commissions of custom designs and alternate painting styles for all the mask sets I have in my gallery, other than commissions of completely new masks of course.
I recently completed a completely new mask set, too. It's a kitsune (fox) mask inspired to Amaterasu from Okami:
Finally, here you are a new variation (which I'll call "alternative version 2") of my custom Kakashi's ANBU mask set, too:
I revised my traditional commissions prices too, lowering them slightly as I did for

Hi everyone! I'm Jade, better known around DeviantArt as Aeirmid. I chose my username because Aermid (or Airmid) is an Irish goddess of health and healing, and I wanted to pay tribute to her because I have dedicated my life to promoting mental and physical health in others. In fact, I'm just finishing up a PhD program in public health. In March, I will celebrate 10 amazing years on DeviantArt. Although I started my journey as a photographer, I quickly became enthralled with photomanipulation and worked hard to develop some skills. I chose my original name on DA, SanguineVamp, because I loved all sorts of dark and Gothic work. I still do. Still, I had a hard time creating dark art because my attempts at blood and gore always somehow magically evolved

Resin?Hey all, just a quick journal.Resin?3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I have a good 3 heads I've been working on and two cool sculptures too that I have been wanting to cast in resin. My problem is that my local craft store only carries clear resin. I've gotten a lot of research and experiments done with that, but as far as regular casting resin I've yet to find something promising.
Any suggestions on making a whole head mold (instead of just the front of a head with a flat back) and casting resins?

All of my jewelry and sculptures can be ordered with layaway/payment plans, just like my dolls
Examples: What I am best known for! All of the really shiny chibi dragons and animals in my gallery! These are usually smooth colored clay with painted detail I have a more organized selection available to view here: http://marybunnie.deviantart.com/gallery/31788790
prices vary on a case-by-case basis due to the differing nature of each sculpture,
but here is an idea:
small: $15-$30 medium: $30-$40 large: $45-$55 Extra big or Extra detail: $60-$80 or above.
It all really depends on how much clay I have to use and how much time I spend!
If you want to know how much a specific sculpture sold for or is selling for as an example, just ask!

The Glitter RuleYou put glitter on things that you want people to see and get noticed. If you put glitter on everything, nothing stands out. Similarly, details and focal points in paintings work the same way, if you have details everywhere, there's no where for your eye to rest. It's pretty much that simple (that part, anyway). The Glitter Rule3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Now, some might say "But I like images that are packed with details...". And that's fine, depending on the intent of the imagery, it might work but that is typically not an effective way to illustrate ideas. If you wanted to test how bright a lamp gets, would you do it in the daytime in a room full of windows? Of course not, because -everything- is being soaked up by light but at night, the lamp light becomes one of the dominant light sources, making it a -focus- of light in the room.
I bring this up because I see a lot of imagery on DA with amazing amounts of details (often times concept art) but no distinguishable focal points. It's a shame to see a highly skillful and detail

Marble, Granite, Bronze, Silver, Gold!
Early statuary depicted one’s god’s, and since the medium is
as much the message as the visual message itself – the medium had
to proclaim: This god is as forever lasting as this stone that His

away into the air, even the most powerful ancient gods and kings –
As the poet Shelley so poignantly noted in Ozymandias.
I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them on the sand,
Half sunk, a shatter'd visage lies, whose frown
And wrinkled lip and sneer of cold command
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamp’d on these lifeless things,
The hand that mock’d them and the

FAQHow did you get started?FAQ4 years ago in Personal More Like This
I've always sculpted as a hobby and am completely self taught. In April of 2010 I decided I wanted to finally try my hand at selling my work. I started posting things on etsy and DA and veeery slowly people started noticing. My first couple of years relied heavily on commission work.
How are you so popular? I just started making sculptures too but nobody notices or buys them?
It took well over two years before I was actually getting fulltime work with decent pay. It took a TON of hard work. I sold my work for far less than I should have, because I needed customers. I also did a few shows, to get some exposure by handing out business cards. I made things as often as I could, posted often, and made sure it was very clear I was open for commissions. I posted links on everything. You have to make it easy for people to find the info they need! I posted mainly on etsy and DA, then made a fanpage on facebook very late in the game. Probably sh
