Burning for You
I try to return what you gave me.
To sacrifice myself in your honor,
To struggle through the smoke so you can rest,
To stagger across the embers and see you on the other side,
To take the heat and shield you from the sparks,
To smolder in eternal pain so you won't have to,
To have your wildfire blazing in my eyes.
But I'm a weak, fragile flame
And I'm burning out.

Serves as a barrier
Her spine is held straight by the icy fibers
Woven through her vertebrae
Hush, my golden honey
Hush, my love
Let me take away the bad dreams
That infect your brain as you wander, lost
They can't hurt you here:
Not safe in my arms

CassandraA few years ago I met a girl by the name of Sally,Cassandra4 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
She was sweet and young and silly, and never knew when to shut up,
She giggled at the most inappropriate moments, and had a glint in her eyes,
watching the world pass in front of her, she was ready to grab it,
With both hands, her teeth, everything she could,
Because she knew somewhere out there was something better than this,
At the age of ten they changed her name from Cassandra,
To Sally, they said that it'd help with the memories,
With her difficulty in hearing her own name,
They thought it for the best, And Sally was the name
Of her favourite childhood toy, a little bear,
Mocha brown, with black button eyes, she'd sewn on herself.
When she turned eight, the police came knocking,
Her next door neighbour had heard the screams,
There were strange voices and odd sounds,
And Cassandra didn't like it,
She burst into tears under the musty bed,
And grasped her bear to her chest.
Back when she was five she found her mummy crying,

So I stand, ready, protective.
Waiting to help you at a moments notice.
All you need to do is say the word.
I know you like to keep things inside.
Even sometimes you keep me out.
But this is something you should know.
I'll never lose faith in you, ever.
I'll face a world of grey
To give you a world of rainbows.
I'll hold the sun in place if I have to
Just so you see the light of day.
Trust me, believe me, don't doubt me.
This heart inside beats for more than just me.
The life I have is mine to give.
I'll help your hands grasp it firmer

To putting a bullet in my brain.
Sweet blood cascading in a waterfall
Down my now glazed over face.
All sign of life gone,
All hope for a future.
Lies and 'love' drove me here.
Herded by hounding dogs
Nipping at my ankles,
Forcing me ever onwards.
Fishing in my pockets
For coins for the ferryman,
I reflect on the could-have-beens.

Friend against friend.
Loved ones turn against each other
As War's influence overwhelms them.
The world rampages as he walks past.
Watching from the roof of a building
He smiles as riots spread faster than cancer.
Laughing at the madness below, and within.
Jumping from the roof, falling hundreds of metres,
He descends into the hell he's created.
His inhuman strength mocks weak humans.
Holes in walls and buildings from flying people,
The blearing orchestra of alarms and sirens,
Fire, eating whatever isn't brought to the ground,
All this fills War with a sadistic joy.
Once he's had his fun he moves on.
The next town, city, country, continent.
Crossing paths with the other Horsemen,
Combining the destruction beyond belief.
The end draws ever nearer.

Of love I dream...

Black ink rain shower.

The wolf howls his fright.
Staining my skin.
Pain like ink within.
Watch this cursed show
To make the words flow.

To the brutality that he's endured.
His undying anger, never-ending rage,
Just products of a life of trauma
We cannot begin to understand.
Earliest memories of cowering in a corner,
Screams and yelling voices echoing in his head.
Blood and alcohol, two substances always present,
Almost like he was drowning in it.
Something had to be done.
One night, one act, no regrets.
Years of torture formed a soul hard as steel.
No more caring of consequences, only necessity.
Another rampage, a stolen knife, a swift ending.
The shadow rises, for a time.
Hiding away where no-one can find him.
But found he was, and given a choice.
Embrace his true self and obtain a power,
Or remain in the shadows, hiding, restrained.
A split second decision, no doubts in his mind...
..And on that day, the embers stirred...
MonstersLook at me, a fallen monster.Monsters4 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
Thousands of dead lie at my feet.
I'm a poison, corrupting this world.
Why does a creature like me
Deserve life, let alone an angel like you??
YOU look at me! We're both monsters,
But does that mean we can't be happy?
Our existance doesn't allow perfection.
We can only take what we can get.
What we are is not our fault.
Words cut a bittersweet wound
Into an already brutalised heart.
My past tells it's own tales of loss and lies.
Why should my future not say the same?
A thousand wounds cannot be healed.
A steady diet of injustice has left hungry
For a slice of how the other half live.
'Love' has left you a fragile shell.
Even if this is who you are, just be mine.
The death around us helps us appreciate life.
Don't let a chance like this pass ypu by.
You would take an empty shell?
A plague of doubt and indecision?
I hunger just for you in my arms.
I'll take you anyway I can have you.

Evening meal sits cold on the dresser,
Not even a mouthful touched.
Near-skeletal finger reach for the plate
And a bony frame carries it to the bathroom.
In the mirror she sees herself as huge.
A vast contrast to the stark reality.
A childhood empty of attention
Has driven this girl to the extreme.
She sees herself as unlovable.
Eyes shined by tears gaze out of a gaunt face,
Gazing at the free world before her.
Every expensive gift lies forgotten around her.
All she wants is to be out there.
To find someone who appreciates her.
Turning back, she sees a glowing figure.
Arm outstretched, hand holding a flame.
A silver-tongued promise of a realised dream.
All she has to do is accept.
She sees herself without a choice.
A sense of purpose, a feeling of hope.
Maybe things don't have to be like this.
A sudden knock at the door breaks the silence.
The strange figure forgotten
In her flight to see who it could be.
A young man stands beyond the threshold.

i am the harper that makes up the ode
i am the mother who cries every night
because of my son who's off in the fight
i have no flag im that loyal to
just dreary rags for my shirt and my shoe
i got no country cause im a lone walker
yeah im the first original wanderer
i fight no war cause it's full of regret
i've got the power and strength to reject
i can end a life and start all over again
this is my purpose as nobody's friend
im the lone soldier walking down the road
i am the lover braving the cold
i am the child who cries every night
because of my father who died in the fight
i have no gun to fire at you
just my walking stick of simple wood
i got no possessions i'm a rich man
i dont need plastic or an old tin can
i lost my sword when i took a vow
that i'd never lose my happiness now
exiled forever away from human life
its better to get away from anger and strife
im the lone soldier walking down the road
walking aimlessly cause i've got no abod

Not yet afflicted by the hunger.
In her arms she cradles a doll.
Tears stream down her face.
How is she evil?
Indecision rakes her heart.
Orders are orders, especially these.
Turning away she releases her power.
As she walks away the child begins coughing
And her mother starts crying.
The sunset appears less bright.
Despite summer heat she shivers.
No sound can be heard at all.
Her handiwork lies around her.
Turning she sees Death...
The RidersThe final fates, the last apocalypse. The Riders4 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
Four beings of ultimate power.
Destruction follows in their footsteps.
No hate, no remorse, only duty.
They'll be the last things you ever see.
Where War walks, destruction follows.
Lives drown under a flood of blood.
Friend kills friend, overwhelmed with fury.
All He does is look and smile
And the world burns, descending into chaos.
Disease and Famine walk hand in hand.
Crippling illness leads to dehabilitating hunger.
As they skip through towns and cities
Thousands fall down in the streets, writhing.
No-one deserves their notice.
Death is everywhere and nowhere.
A spectra that hides in the shadows of the others.
Sombre, silenting, no-one notices until too late.
Humming haunting tunes as he wanders aimlessly.
No-one is safe from his cold gaze.
Their passage on this plane is easy to see.
Follow the desolation and the there they'll be.
Different methods, same result; humanity, dead.
Let me be guide, your escort into madness.
I'll do my best to stay
MadnessI wouldn't surrender this feeling.Madness3 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
Wouldn't sell it for all the gold in the world.
The foreign substance swims through my veins.
Uncontrollably my hands shake and eyes widen.
This madness is intoxicating.
Unable to resist, you feel it too.
Passing between us like an electric shock,
It blows your mind and you're left staggering.
Slowly surrendering to the rush,
You refuse to bow to the sanity.
Alone in a crowd, no one understands.
The seriousness of the world is all they feel.
The tiny details, the fine print,
The little stresses that pile up.
Why can no one else see??
This madness is in fact a cure!
An elixer healing the heartache that overcomes.
The laughter frights away the tears.
The smile banishes the frown.
All you have to do is surrender.
Here! Let me give it to you!
Together we will not bow, ever.
Enjoy the world in a way the sane never could!
You need no one else to be complete!
Just surrender to the madness!

Surrounded by rivers of vomit.
Bodies lie in coma'ed messes
As no coherrent soul is left.
Socialising to the max.
All I can do is laugh.
The urge to kick them is overwhelming.
So helpless and defenseless.
No sympathy, only mocking laughter.
I hope you enjoy your hang over.
Stupid idiots, you have no idea.
How many of you made a huge mistake?
How many started something they can't finish?
This is your idea of fun?
Please leave me out of it.
Maybe its just me.
Maybe I haven't been gripped by the urge,
The pull that drunken oblivion offers.
Call me what you will, I don't care.
Atleast I'll be fine in the morning.
Can you say the same?
