"I've got a signal! It's weak, but it's definitely there." Tali said, fretting over her Omni-tool as she and the others who had been with Shepard from the start began their desperate search for him. As they move through the rubble left over from the Reapers attacks, the pulsing on Tali's Omni-tool quickens. "We're getting closer."
Hold on my love, we're coming.
"How the hell did Shepard get back from the Citadel in the first place?" Wrex said after lifting up half of a broken wall off the ground.
"Does it matter?" Tali said frantically, "We just need to find him!"
Liara comes in behind Tali and grabs a hold of her shoulder. "Don't worry Tali, we'll find him."
Suddenly Ashley screams out in the distance. "Everyone! I found him!"

Lieutenant Commander SPARTAN Nate 007, Fred 104, Linda 058, and Kelly 087 were walking ahead of Dr. Halsey, Chief Mendez, and the five SPARTAN IIIs trapped with them. The four SPARTAN IIIs, Ash, Mark, Olivia, Tom, and Lucy, were helping Dr. Halsey and Chief Mendez carry the five stasis pods holding Team Katana.
"Do you think we will ever get out of here? We have been here for months" Kelly asked
"We will get out. I'm sure of it" Nate replied
He didn't think they would get out though. As optimistic as he would like to be, he has to face facts. They were done for. Kurt had made sure they got to safety, but they are trapped. It was a sad thought that after everything he and the other SPARTANs have gone through, they were going to die of starvation.
"More importantly, do you think John succeeded in ending the war with the Covenant?" Kelly asked
"I'm sure he did. He's the UNSC's last active SPARTAN. If he has survived this far, then he will defin

Sitting down on the hard bench Shepard banged on the bulkhead behind him to signal the shuttle pilot to take off, not really feeling like speaking. As he lent back he closed his eyes and tried to gather his thoughts, attempting to calm himself as the shuttle slipped free of the Normandy's interior.
Alive, that was the thought that kept running through his head, closely followed by Liara, anything much beyond that was too difficult to think about. They had jumped through the Omega 4 relay and against all the odds they had returned. But unlike the dead colonist, the memories and scars had not been left behind on the now destroyed Collectors base and he doubted that they would ever

Chapter 6: Correspondence
Tali rubbed her shoulder after closing the injection port on her suit. Mordin hadn't been kidding when he'd said that the injections would cause soreness. It felt like she had run a marathon- with her arms. Both Chakwas and Mordin had kept her under constant surveillance since administering the first dose of the retro-virus. So far the only side effects were a ravenous appetite and the expected dull ache throughout her muscles that accompanied the treatment.
She understood the basic principles of how the treatment worked. A normal virus operated by splicing its genetic code into a target cell, causing the cell to replicate that code and produce more viruses until it died, usually from filling itself with the offending pathogen.
The retro-virus spliced the regen-sequence into its target cell and effectively 'died', leaving the altered cell to go about its normal business. Since the virus didn't get replicated, mul
Shepard I'm PregnantDr. Chakwas looked down at Miranda lying on the bed. Miranda wondered briefly why she was here. After all, it was only a bit of sickness. But Shepard had asked her to go and find out what it was, so she had. It was early and the majority of the crew was asleep, except Dr. Chakwas. She seemed to be wide awake. Miranda envied her as she stifled a yawn. Dr. Chakwas looked down at the OSD and sighed. Dr. Chakwas faltered for a moment, and then said, "You are pregnant."
Miranda's mouth dropped open. I can't be. It's absurd.
She wanted to say something, but for once she was lost for words. She smiled as the realisation swept over her.
"Congratulations,"" Dr. Chakwas said with a faint smile.
Miranda was still a little stunned, but thanked the doctor. Then a terribl

A Mandalorian wanted to cry, but he was afraid he had forgotten how.
Tears were weakness, tears weathered flesh like battles. Now when he craved erosion, he had forgotten how to cry. The unreleased tears were stone in his chest, dragging him under with the sound of dry thunder.
The lightsaber rested in his hand as solid as his longings and heavy as his grief. It was cold and lifeless against his bare palm, colder still as he shifted it to his gauntlet. He had never thought it possible for something so small to weigh him down so much.

The trees had grown so tall since the first time she came here. Back then they were just hastily planted saplings that only came up to her waist. Now they towered over her and shaded the people in the park from the hot afternoon sun. A light breeze stirred from the east and blew pleasantly in and around the trees rustling the leaves and branches. Liara couldn't help but smile as the cool breeze caressed her skin as she strolled towards the center of the sprawling park to the only building, the only construct on the three hundred acre lot.
Here and there people enjoyed the beautiful weather playing games, walking among the trees or having picnics as chirping birds looked down from the branches and dogs frolicked in the grass. Many took notice of her, bein

This was a unusually weak cycle. There were only two notable species, the philos and the scotians. The latter were a lizardlike people, fond of industry and with little regard for environment concerns. The former were a hybrid of plant and animal, with great care for the balance of nature. The opposing viewpoints of these races led them to come to blows. They were spread a short distance across the galaxy, but there were very few other races in this cycle for them to encounter. This was normal. Cycles with more than a dozen major species were rare, and more difficult to subdue.
They were researching synthetic life as a weapon in their war, and it was only a matter of time before they developed artificial intelligences. The time was right for the Reapers to save them from their creations, before their own machines turned on them. It was inevitable. Harbinger had told them of this.
Like all cycles, they had stumbled straight into t

You know what we are.

Violence has always composed our core.
To deny it would be to deny our heritage.
I must harness my birthright.

Your pity is an unwelcome crutch.
