Every 10 seconds, one person dies from diabetes.

o.0 god damn

mk to explain the pose, that's a needle in my hand and diabetics tend to inject (or take pills if it's type two) insulin into their stomachs or thighs about twice a day, two injections a time.

"ZOMG! HOW DOES SHE KNOW THAT??"

i'm a type one diabetic. hereditary. two grandparents had it and so now i do. it's got nothing to do with eating patterns or weight, it's not preventable..oh well

anywho, just so you guys know, i will indeed be doing pictures on OCD and mental illnesses =)

if anyone wants to suggest more, feel free =)

46 million abortions are undergone every year.
That makes 126 thousand every day.
20 million abortions are obtained in countries where it is restricted or prohibited by law.
The lifetime average is one abortion per woman.

In the US:
Teenagers obtain 20%

Married women account for 18.4% of all abortions.

Catholic women account for 31.3%
Women with no religious affiliation obtain 23.7% of all abortions.
18% of all abortions are performed on women who identify themselves as "Born-again/Evangelical".

1% of all abortions occur because of rape or incest; 6% of abortions occur because of potential health problems regarding either the mother or child, and 93% of all abortions occur for social reasons (i.e. the child is unwanted or inconvenient).

alrighty, firstly, ground rules. there will be NO pro-life/pro-choice arguments under this image, understood? good. you can state your beliefs but in separate comments, i dont want anyone saying they've aborted or believe in pro-choice and then being verbally attacked by those who are pro-life. you will state your opinions in separate comments aimed at me and this image and at no one else or their comments.

now, i included the other information about the stats of the US to prove something. so many blame reckless teenagers with no morals, but teenagers only take up 20% of the numbers and 18.4% are even married. other blame godless people and claim that people of their religion would not do such things but an amazing 49.3% of those women are catholics or evangelists, they belong to the religions who are the strictest when it comes to abortion while athiests account for 23.7%. so many want abortions to be made illegal but almost half of abortions are done in countries where it is strictly prohibited. women who are desperate will do whatever they can.

as for my opinion, if a female is raped resulting in pregnancy and decides to abort, no one has any right whatsoever to judge her or call her a murderer. how dare you. as for girls who's families are not supportive, some are forced and i'm sorry for all those girls who unwillingly gave up their children. there will be NO judgment here, if you are here to violently and offensively preach your views (whether they are pro-life or pro-choice) then your comments are unwelcome. share your views, but dont force them down anyone's throught.

sigh, again with the fake preggie belly, it was even more uncomfortable to make than when i did it for Teen Pregnancy [link] seriously all that bloating hurts =p anyway, as for the pose - i know women dont stab themselves with scissors to abort, it's symbolic. and some women have tried other things just as menacing..we've all heard of the coat hanger..

5 000 women die every year due to honour killings

In the West, honour killing is almost exclusively associated with the killing of females by close family members with the aim of undoing the 'loss' caused by actions deemed to be offensive to their culture, particularly in terms of 'sexual immodesty', including adultery, refusal to accept arranged (sometimes forced) marriage, being a victim of rape, and merely refusing to adhere to hijab dress code.

Every minute, one person dies as a result of homicide.

alrighty, now at the risk of sounding corny, here goes.
this monday someone by the name of Ken Marslew came to speak to us about an Anti-Violence movement [link]
the reason he started this movement is because in 1994 his son Michael Marslew, an 18 year old uni student was shot during an armed robbery, and so i chose to dedicate (if that's the right word to use) to him, as half the class was in tears. i chose not to go into the details of the occurrence as i hope not to offend anyone by it, if u want to read more on this then here's the [link]
His father Ken Marslew now runs his Anti-Violence movement, please drop by the website to find out more.

in my personal opinion, the death penalty should be introduced into Australia, but that's my own opinion. the fault will always be in their hands.

My respects go out to Mr. Marslew, and the rest of Michaels family and friends.

Every five seconds, one child dies of starvation.

i think so far this is my favourite shot of the series, and the statistic is just devastating, it's such a shame that so many have to go through such an awful thing needlessly. these are kids for god's sake. your children or your young siblings for god's sake.

On average, 25 children are killed each year by a parent.

alrighty then
let me start off by saying, if you're going to tell me that this statistic is insignificant and should not have been included in this series then i dont want to hear it.
it's your opinion and you're entitled to it by all means but this statistic absolutely disgusts me and it belongs in this series as much as any of the other images. i cannot begin to understand how someone can do such a thing to their own flesh and blood, and i'm not a mother.

now to the facts behind the statistic, i'd like to say that i know this isn't accurate, this does not include honour killings, i want to make that clear. the statistics for honour killings are even more appauling than this and will also be included in this series soon.

and thankyou andrew for the teddy, i love you dear =)

NOTE: i recently found out this is an australian statistic, when i find a global one, it will be uploaded, sorry guys
