Project Ed Tutorials: PhotographyPhotography In a sense feels like it would be simple enough for the most part.Project Ed Tutorials: Photography4 years ago in Personal More Like This
You use the device in your hands to look at something and you press a button to capture the image you want.
That's the gist of it, but there's considerably more to it than that, especially if you want to take something that accurately represents your intentions.
For Project Educate, I'll be featuring some deviation tutorials on Photography that I like and hope that you yourself will find useful as a budding, seasoned or humbled expert photographer.
They will be broken down in the form of Technical and Creative tutorials. Some will be focused on numbers and basic ideas to compose and make a quality photo and others will be focused on what you can do with those techniques to make advanced visual creations.
For the most part, these tutorials apply to anyone that owns a camera, whether it be your compact, point and shoot or a DSLR.

Community Volunteers - A Memoir! You may recently have seen -> Our Favourite Memories and Moments an awesome article written by fourteenthstar bringing together lots of dA staff members memories and moments.Community Volunteers - A Memoir!4 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
So The Community Volunteers got chatting and we decided we needed our own collection of memories - because we have some awesome ones!
With the merge of the Gallery Moderators and MN@ Volunteers has come the collaboration of one BIG team and it's lovely getting to know the 'other side' so to speak. So it's with great delight that I share our massive response to fourteenthstar's article with Community Volunteers - Our Memories
I cannot pick a single memory, but I would say that whenever someone tells me that the DD I gave them made their day and that they are so happy makes me smile. That, and the time I saw MyntKat's butt on webcam.

Over the years, we've been proud to offer the opportunity to volunteer with deviantART. We believe that our volunteers play a crucial role in helping our community develop and grow in positive ways.
The Gallery Moderator (previously known as Gallery Director) and Message Network Admin (MN@) teams have become a much loved and appreciated role, with many volunteers proudly detailing their experience in applications to enter into successful careers with companies who all recognise the value of volunteering in such a vibrant and eclectic community. Did you know that some of our now full time Staff were once volunteers? fourteenthstar, Moonbeam13, Pachunka, aunjuli, y2jenn, damphyr, Tachy-on, dxd and Ikue all volunteered in various roles -- and we are all very proud of that fact!
Over the past few months, we've been taking a close look at the volunteer experience -- what's worked, what hasn't worked a

Updates!Team UpdatesUpdates!4 years ago in Personal More Like This
Things are super busy at the moment. As you know, we've been recruiting for 2 new positions into the CEA Team for a while. After weeks of interviews, tasks and presentations, we've sent out offers to 2 deviants who will soon be joining the team. I have to say that this round of recruitment attracted the most amazingly high standard of applicants, and it was not an easy task to make our final decisions! Over 200 people applied for the positions and it was really inspiring to speak with so many people who have such evident ambition and talent within our community.
During the recruitment process, we gave the final round of applicants a task to make a presentation to us about what they felt was an appropriate piece of community outreach that the CEA should undertake. I was really impressed by all the ideas and I'm really looking forward to expanding upon some of the ideas to make them part of our regular CEA projects.
Project Educate Interview: CedarseedToday on this fine New Years Eve, we'll be interviewing Majnouna for Project Educate! She's a former volunteer for deviantART and has her own website: Cedarseed.comProject Educate Interview: Cedarseed4 years ago in Personal More Like This
She's responsible for these INCREDIBLY detailed tutorials:
Tell us a little bit about yourself!
Not much to say, I'm a Lebanese creative, trained as a graphic designer and self-taught as an illustrator. My day job consists in making digital games, and I was apprenticed to a calligraphy master so I do a lot of that as well. My personal love is comics, and my published works so far are Malaak: Angel of Peace and Driving in Lebanon.
How did you get into your chosen media?
Chance or fate, depending how you look at it! I never even heard of graphic design until a career orientation day at school, where I instantly knew that's what I needed to do (originally I was looking into veterinary studies); the calligraph

Laughter is indeed the best medicine - however...
The Humorous photography gallery is so often misunderstood. It's not for creations of demotivational posters and similar things - it's for photography that by fluke or by planning has turned out to be quite amusing! The trend very much seems to be eggs - with funny faces or in unfortunate circumstances. Putting faces on fingers, food and other objects is quite popular.
And of course the poor little innocent easter chicks that get into all sorts of situations!
Sometimes attaching a funny title makes a photograph that initially wasn't funny into something that you burst into fits of giggles over. Titles and attached comments help to explain a photograph and indeed in the case of the humorous gallery - lighten the mood.
Humorous photography should be more about the child with the amused face at a serious wedding, or the giraffe that's sticking it's head onto a breakfas
