Edit: I forgot, but my friend here's having a contest: http://pound-key.deviantart.com/art/Watcher-Contest-food-and-character-369217918
it's about your favourite character with your favourite food. It can be your own character or one on T.V. so it sounds pretty fun, right?
Please take a look, there are some awesome peeps here
note: Faving this journal might help with your exposure but it's solely up to your fellow deviants ~
It takes me a while to put these together and it's a bit of a tedious process, so if you commented on my other journal to be featured, please take a look at everyone else's work too. After all, it's only fair that way and if you don't, it's just a little selfish and your conscience will bug you . So yah, share the love, guys!

trying to escape writers blockSo I read this article about how to creatively escape writers block, so here is the exercise:trying to escape writers block2 years ago in Personal More Like This
-Your two main characters have to change a flat tire, in the rain. (This exercise helps you to learn more about your characters through handling adversitywhich can be very telling!)
And here is the result
"What the hell was that?"
"It was a bloody good jolt, that's for certainI think you might've gone off the road for a minute."
"Of course I didn't go off the road, you pratI'm not that bad of a driver."
"That's a good laugh, Crow. I've got a damn prosthetic and I drive better than youwait, what the hell are you slowing down for?"
"I'm not slowing down! I haven't even taken my foot off the gas!"
"Well what does it look like we're doing? Sara, pull over, for Christ's sake, I think we've got a flat tire."
"Bollocks, we're fine."
"Look out your window: we're hardly even moving!"
"I can't see out because of the goddamn rain!"
"No need to pull over, then,

Permanent Project Policy Statement Hi All---Permanent Project Policy Statement8 months ago in Personal More Like This
I'm writing this with absolutely no intention of being unkind, rude, or angry----I'm not trying to stomp on anyone's creative dreams, or pick on anyone in particular. Truth is, I've been really busy lately, and I haven't had time to reply to each inquiry note I get.
So here's my blanket policy statement, and a request---Please read it before you contact me about a potential project:
Please stop writing me to ask if I'll draw your creator-owned project that you've written that you'd like me to draw for free. I appreciate that you believe in your work, and that you believe that this will benefit us both, but the cold truth is this: I do not work for free. Illustration is a job for me. I am a professional illustrator, and I have a family to support. Free work is something that I just can't do, and it's inappropriate to ask me to do so.
I'm going to leave this journal posted here for a wh

I've made it pretty clear how I feel about the rights of creators and how those rights are abused by big companies. Protect what you create and most of all understand it's value.

Emerging artists, we want you at Comic-Con 2012!Join us in Artists’ Alley!Emerging artists, we want you at Comic-Con 2012!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
DeviantART is once again heading to Comic-Con International: San Diego! This year, we’re offering six scholarships to emerging comic artists to attend San Diego Comic-Con 2012 as guests of deviantART.
Who should apply?
We're looking for artists who have always dreamt of going to Comic-Con and who want to make the most of the experience. Applicants must be serious about attending Comic-Con and must be willing and able to come to San Diego, California between July 12 through 15.
The chosen artists will spend one day at Comic-Con, where they will be able to show their portfolio in Artists' Alley. When not showcasing their work, scholarship recipients will be able to cruise the convention floor, attend panels, and introduce themselves to prominent artists in the industry, with a chance to pick their brains and gain artistic inspiration right from the source.
The six recipients will each receive:
jdmakescomics.comAfter way too long and way too many false starts, my website is finally up. It's in a bit of a rough state at the moment, but I intend to polish up that sucker once I get the breathing room to apply the elbow grease.jdmakescomics.com2 years ago in Personal More Like This
My plan is for it to be a one-stop-site for all of my future projects -- 5-6 issue minis of varying genres is the idea as of right this second -- and to give me a spot on the web of my own to get behind and advertise. First up is a comic :icondan-sch: and I have been working on for way too long and that has gone through as many revisions, if not more, as my attempts to get this site off the ground: San Hannibal.
I co-wrote this one with Dan and did all of the art and lettering. I've been wanting to get it out in the world for months now, so I hope everyone enjoys our efforts. Bookmark us, leave a comment if you can. And hell, enjoy the comics.
DEPARTMENT Ohttp://www.monkeypipestudios.com/DEPARTMENT O2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Comic creator Jamie Gambell has been kind enough to let me read an advance copy of his latest comic creation, Department O. Written by Gamble, Illustrated by Andrew Ross Maclean, and colored by Heather Breckel, the first issue dives head-long into a rocking supernatural-steampunk adventure.
Andrew Ross Maclean's artwork fits this world beautifully. It rides the sweet spot between Mike Mignola & Guy Davis's Hellboy/BPRD work, while bringing it's own madcap cartoony tone that pushes the visuals into the absurd, in the best possible way.
The preview I read was in black and white, however a color version of the cover is on Jamie Gambell's deviant art page: http://jamiegambell.deviantart.com/#/d4wn1e7
And if Breckel's work on The Hero Code is any indicicator, the colors on this book will be gorgeous.
As the story opens, you get the sense that you are playing catch-up, in a complex machine that began chugging into motion long before
