This is a self portrait submission for a group show I'm putting together called 'facecook', loosely based on portraits and expression of identity though the square format. It was good to break out the grey and beige spray cans that were collecting dust. This was fun to put together and it had to be nasty looking!
I was browsing deviantart one day, and discovered the wonderful art people do with the help of spray paint and stencils.
I got inspired ... and decided to try it.
This here is a self portrait (or three, really) with spray paint on canvas. White and black spray paint, nature coloured canvas.
I took pictures, played with them in Photoshop, printed them and then used a lot of time and energy on cutting paper ... and then I sprayed! ... half of my living room was covered in old newspapers, so that the spray paint wouldn't stick to anything else than the canvas. But it did anyway. Oh well.
I was thinking something along the lines of those little angels who sits on your shoulders and tell you to do, or not to do, stuff. As you can see, I don't always listen to them.
Keeping in mind that this is the first time I work with spray paint ... I rather like this one.
