"I give you the light of Eärendil, our most beloved star. May it be a light for you in dark places, when all other lights go out."
Edit: This is a painting from a reference photo I took from the web. It hasn't been painted over or traced. I use guidelines to help me measure important aspects of the face when sketching but that is it other than simple eye-balling.
This is my rendition of the picture on the back of my favourite album of all time - "Astro Creep: 2000" by White Zombie. The original picture was drawn by Rob Zombie, and I liked it so much I had to put it on my wall.
I originally started this around Christmas 1996 at which time I drew all of the main face, and I finished the piece by putting the ears on in June 1997 (I had to wait until I was in the right "mood").
Because it took so long to finish the picture, it sat around for months yellowing and now the paper has quite an 'old' feel to it. It's in a frame, but when I took it out to scan it I was afraid I was going to crack the paper (that's how old it looks now!) It actually adds to the feel of the picture when you see it in the flesh. It's mounted in a frame that is really 'chunky' and has pits and holes (a sort of wood-borer effect). The frame suits the picture, but I can't scan the frame as well (for obvious reasons).
Anyway, here it is for all to see; my favourite picture ever.
