This is my rendition of the picture on the back of my favourite album of all time - "Astro Creep: 2000" by White Zombie. The original picture was drawn by Rob Zombie, and I liked it so much I had to put it on my wall.
I originally started this around Christmas 1996 at which time I drew all of the main face, and I finished the piece by putting the ears on in June 1997 (I had to wait until I was in the right "mood").
Because it took so long to finish the picture, it sat around for months yellowing and now the paper has quite an 'old' feel to it. It's in a frame, but when I took it out to scan it I was afraid I was going to crack the paper (that's how old it looks now!) It actually adds to the feel of the picture when you see it in the flesh. It's mounted in a frame that is really 'chunky' and has pits and holes (a sort of wood-borer effect). The frame suits the picture, but I can't scan the frame as well (for obvious reasons).
Anyway, here it is for all to see; my favourite picture ever.
Love yourself—accept yourself—forgive yourself—and be good to yourself
Many are dissatisfied with themselves .. they see the mistakes that no one else think of ... they can not be themselves .. they are afraid to show their true colors .. they hide behind masks .. but the truth is that all are worth as much and will do just fine as is ..... no one is perfect and we are all in the same boat .. so play the role that is best .. yourself
Ahhhh, finally I'm done... I worked so hard on this WP, because I wanted to create a kind of creepy, spooky atmosphere and didn't quite know how to achieve this... I'm still not completely pleased, but before I start ruining the hard work I rather stop!
I loved creating the sketches for this, though I wasn't quite sure what demons like Amaimon and Mephisto would like to wear on Halloween. I didn't want to dress them in the usual witch-like dresses... and it had to be sorta sexy, too. xD
It happened I stumbled across a very old series I used to watch, when I was a teen... "Mummies alive". *___* Does anyone here know that series? Well, that's what inspired me to dress Mephy up like a Pharao-Mummy... it's creepy, it's got bandages and oh his neverending sexy slender legs can be seen... I'd kill to have those... xD
Amaimon's costume was trickier... I couldn't decide between Dr. Frankenstein and Fallen Angel... so I just merged them into one costume. ;D
He looks kinda pissy though... maybe cuz Mephy wants him to pose instead of playing "trick or treat" with him to get him some sugary stuff... poor Amaimon. ^^°
The background is a mixture of various brushes that I found here on DA:
Was inspired by Haradaya of Nippon Ichi for the colors, and my childhood for the background... This environment doesn't look all too Japanese, perhaps, but see it as a Nordic touch. In some clear nights, you can even see the Great Hakurei Border at the horizon...
