Actually I havn't really figured out a proper way to call this thing yet..
So anyway; Ta-daa! It's a leather helmet-hat kind of thing! This thing shall be on my head whilst I play my goblin character on Mythodea this year. Might be somewhat of a spoiler for some, but I was quite eager to put this online. Wanted a creative solution for keeping my dreadlocks out of the way.
A new mask I created as a special order for a client. The mask is made from vegetable-tanned cow leather, and is cut from a template of my own design, and hand-molded and hand-painted. The base colour is a shimmery metallic black, with hints of blue and pewter. The raised areas are highlighted with bluish-pewter metallic tones.
This piece has sold, but I'm always happy to take custom orders. I have a made-to-order entry for this mask in my Etsy shop (where you can find many other masks, as well!): [link]
Done... well, i cant say it was easy or smoothly work. It wasn't hard either, but i was suprised that paterns for chest plate worked for the first time. Whole project was very important to me.... an important theme. I am not quite happy of photosesion, we have almost no sun for few weeks, pictures was made on totaly gloomy day, and I were lucky to get those photos before start raining (now is raining constantly for over a 3 weeks and floods here and there, o i was lucky to have ANY pictures - armor goes to the client)
I thought the wig will looks better - i was wrong. but hope it looks quite ok for character - the main is still armor and cape. when i was designing the armor back in 2008 i've chosed one Drizzt picture as a main reference. www.google.com/search?hl=en&cl…
This is my version of a Venetian mask, in the form of a raven.
Unlike a true Venetian mask (which is made of lightweight leather that is embellished with plaster & gold leaf & is VERY delicate), this mask is made with my own unique technique involving heavy-weight leather that is deeply hand carved. This achieves the ~look~ of a Venetian mask but is durable enough to wear anywhere, indoors or out. Even safe to travel with (the perfect mask to tuck in your suitcase on your next trip to New Orleans for Mardi Gras!)
I draw all those little scrolls by hand, free-form, each time I make this mask. It's a lot of fun, frankly. ^_^
You can order this mask (and countless others) at my Etsy shop: [link]
A mask based on the bird form of one of the three Seasons sisters, Summer, from my Seasons stories. This is hand shaped and tooled from 8 oz leather with a green agate cabochon. It's painted with acrylics and tied with ribbon.
This is available for sale in my Etsy shop here: [link] Sold!
