A new mask I created as a special order for a client. The mask is made from vegetable-tanned cow leather, and is cut from a template of my own design, and hand-molded and hand-painted. The base colour is a shimmery metallic black, with hints of blue and pewter. The raised areas are highlighted with bluish-pewter metallic tones.
This piece has sold, but I'm always happy to take custom orders. I have a made-to-order entry for this mask in my Etsy shop (where you can find many other masks, as well!): [link]
He he! Yeah, carrying on with my obsession. Don't quite remember what the source was for this one otherwise.
Made from red clothing leather, gold coated suede and red dyed tooling leather. Entirely hand sewn and assembled (yes, my fingers are sore!) Featuring my very own Arc Reactor (!) and EL wire. Took just under 2 weeks, and will take a longer over-shoulder strap too.
COMISSION SLOTS ARE NOW OPEN!! PLEASE MESSAGE ME FOR MORE INFORMATION IF YOU WISH TO BUY ONE.
Okay...of all the many many masks I've made, this one here was my absolute favorite. I've always been most proud of my "Fighting Bettas" design and I'd always wanted to do that design in my favorite colors (silvery blue/green), so this was a very special mask for me.
The cool peaceful colors made the fish look less like fighters, more like pacifists. So I named it "Aequeor Tranquillium"..."peaceful oceans".
I have no idea where it is. I sent it out into the world...it was meant as a birthday gift for someone I admired (Jon Anderson , who has made music I have loved since I was a little kid), but I have no idea whether he got it or not. Sometimes I do stuff like that; I just send a special piece of art to a person I admire who has influenced my life and my art. Sometimes they get it, sometimes they don't. I hope it's not lost... But at any rate it's done and beautiful and swimming away out there somewhere.
I really wish Jim Henson was still alive. Of all the people I'd love to thank, he's at the top of my list. Jon Anderson was the next one.
