Similar Deviations
Since this has been out a while now I figured I'd put it up here as well - a loading screen for one of the early missions in Heart of the Swarm, set in underground zerg-infested caves on Char.

I nicked some of the base eggs from Sam Yang's work on the Zerg egg-room, their version of the Armory from Wings of Liberty.

A bit late putting this one up, the story's been out for a while now, BUT!

Check it out here
Just an Overlord
It was supposed to be an easy assignment: take a squad of recruits out to the ruins of Tarsonis, make camp at the abandoned Ghost Academy, and play war games for a few weeks to prep the recruits for combat. With Kerrigan out of the picture, the zerg are just mindless animals, hardly a threat to Dominion marines... right? As Meatbag Squadron is about to find out, even the supposedly most harmless zerg can be a terrifying enemy.

A wallpaper-sized version is up on the SC2 site, as well.

And now . . . since the infestor got a new look this is even less relevant . . . well, not really, but it's still not in SC2 so hey.

Still fun though!

Dark Swarm all the way...

Next one! (s)

Forgot these and drones so they're gonna be slipped in here before I get to the Hydra.
Fun little buggers.
About an hour and a half.

So the infestor sort of got me inspired, and with a bit of luck I'm hoping to go through the entire Zerg army... Should be interesting to see if I get there. I'm really happy with this sort of style, and it's good practice for me...
This is a lot more faithful (obviously) to the current SC2 zergling . . .

Bit under 3 hours, in the end, same as last time—SB Pro and PS.
(interesting to see how much I've improved in the last year...)

Next!

Okay, so after this I'm finished up the glitch in my tech tree, working steadily up it now.
Pretty happy with this, mostly because I like the linework + pose (not that it's that dramatic).
So enjoy!

I liked these last two since it's fun to make such mundane units cool-looking (and hopefully I succeeded).

SO! I know some of you've seen it already 'cause I got some comments about it earlier today, but here goes -
The first official piece I've done for Blizzard has been put up on the SC2 site to illustrate a story on the history of the Baneling.
A higher res version can be found there also.

Enjoy! :D

Edit: Aww, they changed the Widow Mine again.

Edit: I love the new Widow Mine for HotS! [link] Definitely reminds me of my idea of how the Bane Creeper attacks.

My Infested Planetary Fortress [link]

My Protoss concept [link]

Protoss Campaign concepts [link]

So I always liked the idea of the Seeker Missile from the Raven, sadly we don't see it utilized often. So I thought of similar mechanic with this unit, the Bane Creeper. It would use a close range ability that's energy based, that would inject bane acid into any enemy light, ground unit. There would then be a very short moment before the enemy unit (still able to move freely) would explode damaging or killing near by units. It would cause entertaining micro forcing the enemy to scramble to get rid of the infected unit before their surrounding units suffer. It would mostly be a early to mid game unit, most likely with little hp. Of course, the biggest question is why get this unit rather than a whole bunch of banelings? For one, it would be armored so Hellians wouldn't be so annoying to deal with early game. Verse Protoss, it could help reduce heavy Sentry and Zealot armies being able to out range one force field. Mainly, I would like to see this kind of micro early game and help macro Zergs against early aggression.

Tell me what you think : )

Next one in line, the Baneling!
woo!

Again, stuck pretty closely to the current model/art. The sacs took a bit to get looking quite the way I wanted; 'bout 2 1/2 hours in the end.
Enjoy.
