(Crappy photo with cell phone. Not sealed or best pic...yet. Too large for scanner) FIRST, let me say I'm sorry for not replying on time or commenting on your works lately. I've had a LOT of business lately and have not been able to draw much. Also, my wife's sister and one of our dogs died last week, one of our daughter's went off to college and we've never been SO BUSY. I hope to get back on here soon.
In the mean time, I've been working on this here and there over the past 2-3 weeks. It's Marlon Brando in a famous scene from The Godfather. Doing it for my parents 50th wedding anniversay on August 28th.
*** PLS NOTE: This is only 5.5 x 7 inches, so BOTH VIEWS are larger than the drawing
This is Bryan Cranston as "Walter White" on AMC's show BREAKING BAD.
SIZE: 5.5 x 7 inches PAPER: Bristol Smooth 300 series PENCILS: Staedtler 3B, 2B, B, HB, F, H TIME: about 10 hours
Keep in mind this drawing is only 5.4 x 7 inches, so details will get lost when viewing larger. VIEW ZOOMED DETAILS IN A LARGE HIGH RES PIC HERE: twitpic.com/6v1asw WHEN THERE - CLICK "VIEW FULL SIZE"
PS - his right pupil (our left) was not exactly rounded on both sides in the reference photo, and I drew it that way. Wishing I had corrected it now. Like someone once told me, if it looks strange in a photo, it will look even stranger in your drawing. Sometimes we need to take a little artistic license and change it to look more natural?
CHECK out what Vince Gilligan (creator of the show) sent me when he saw my BB drawings It Currently hangs at the Breaking Bad offices
NOTE: The UN-enlarged view is EXACT SIZE of the drawing
I found a photo of Ryan Gosling and George Clooney combined. Ryan is holding a folded TIME magazine over 1/2 of his face with Clooney on the other side. I have not seen the movie yet, but want to.
I hope everyone had a good Christmas and New Year! I've been SO busy with moving, work etc that this is the first drawing I've down in almost 2 months. Now that we are settled, and winter is setting in, I hope to be drawing a lot more!
SIZE: 6.5 x 8 inches PAPER: Bristol Smooth 300 series by Strathmore PENCILS: Staedtler Mars Lumograph 3B, 2B, B, HB, F, H TIME: about 10 hours
I've created a Google Doc with all the scans of the steps I took, so I don't have to SPAM everyone with all the WIP updates. The only problem is, you can't see the fine details very well, because they are pasted images, not attachments. GO HERE: [link]
To see a HIGH RES SCAN so you can see the scratch marks and details - go here: [link]
SIZE: 7 x 8 INCHES TIME: about 10-12 hours? PAPER: Strathmore Bristol Smooth 300 series PENCILS: Staedtler Mars Lumograph H, HB, F, B, 2B, 3B
PLEASE NOTE: The ENLARGED view is slightly larger than the actual drawing. See the high res scan link above for CLOSE UP details Speaking of which...the details in his eyes drove me nuts! I prolly spent over 4 hours total on the eyes!
PS - note I drew the entire head? I ALWAYS crop the scalp at least a little. It is so you get the most face in the space allowed. However, Rosebud Mag insisted that I drew the whole thing, and that they are also going to do some type of "watercolor effect" to the drawing? I will post that when I see it.
