Chapter One: A Glimpse of Things to Come
Seti woke with a start. He had heard a female screaming, and jumped up to find her. He lied back down when he realized the screaming had come from his nightmare. The voice was familiar, but he never saw the young girls face. All he could see was the Egyptian sun beating down on the sand as a girl fell to her knees and began screaming. It bothered him some nights, to see this poor girl in pain, and he knew nothing of what to do. Seti wished he could see her face.
He rolled over onto his back and looked above him at the ceiling. His accommodations now were much better than a year ago when he was twelve. Now he was thirteen, and the Royal temple painter. He had lived in the Palace since he was five years old. The Pharaoh had taken him away from his mother and father as punishment for a crime they had committed. Could his mother be the woman in his dream screaming? It would make sense; Seti couldn't remember what she looked like. Howev

Dont worry Cali, My dad told me as he hopped into the drivers seat of our minivan. You are going to love Monroeville! The people there are so nice, and friendly.
I sighed. We were leaving sunny, beautiful California, and we were moving to dull, rainy Monroeville. What kind of name is Monroeville anyway? In Monroeville it rained almost every day, and you could never see the sun there. Monroeville is a hundred times different from California.
A tear rolled down my cheek as we drove away from our house, and Megans house. Megan is my best friend, and I was devastated I had to leave her. She was in the window of her house, waving and crying. I had to look away so I wouldnt break down again.
Out of all the people in the world, I was most surprised my mother had agreed to moving. She absolutely hated the rain. Thats why she lived in California her whole life. Monroeville would be her own personal hell. My dad on the other

The trial was, as expected, just a way to completely humiliate me in front of my family. There was no need for it; they all knew that I was guilty of every single thing they suspected me of. Of course, Martha, my lawyer, just had to insist on making me sit through it while she argued with the prosecutor about whether I deserved ten or seven years for the job we did at Lake Ontario. I dont know how there was even a discussion over it, Id killed two people on that job, and in my opinion I deserved a lot more than ten.
My client, this man, She pointed at me. I smiled and waved to the jury like the good little boy she wanted me to be. Has been proven guilty of many, many things over the past year. But this does not mean that he should be prosecuted for something he did not due because he is convenient to blame. There is only evidence that his partner, Tom Curtis I cringed and her voice faded out from my mind. Why the hell

I awoke this morning, and sighed when i saw the sun shining brightly threw my window. I absolutely hated sunny days. My sister Renesmee did not have to go to school on sunny days, but i did. Renesmee was more a vampire than i was, so she would sparkle in the sunlight. I was-of course-more human than vampire, so i did not have to worry about going out in the sunlight.
I rolled out of bed-not thinking-and slammed face first onto the floor, with my blanket still wrapped around me. And-in record time-my mother, Bella, swung the door open.
"Are you alright?" She asked worridly. If my sister fell on the floor she wouldn't make this big of a deal about it.
"Leave me alone," I mumbled into my floor. I felt my mother's cold hand rub my back.

He found the mysterious scroll completely by accident. It was his first day back at the Kupre dig after having spent almost a month at his Cairo mansion recuperating from a badly infected leg wound. He was still hobbling around with a cane, but he felt almost as good as new. Unfortunately, Doctor Cedwicke Thompson didn't believe that he was anywhere close to well enough. His father, the powerful and ungodly rich Earl of Somersby, had tasked Ceddie with seeing to his health while in Egypt and Ceddie took the responsibility seriously. The handsome young physician was his best friend, but after three and a half weeks of being clucked over, he was quite fed up with him. He had hardly been at the site more than an hour before Ceddie started in on him about getting out of the heat.
"It's Egypt, Ced!" he protested. "There's nowhere that isn't in the heat!"

"Hercules, wake up...Hercules?"
The big man grunted and rolled over and tried very hard NOT to wake up.
This brought another grunt, much more ill-tempered, and Hercules considered opening his eyes if only to find out which one of his house slaves was going to get tossed off the balcony.
"Leave me be," he growled.
Something jabbed him in the ass.
He sat up with a snarl, ready to twist the offender's head off, but then he blinked his bleary eyes in surprise.
The Messenger God smiled at him, his quicksilver eyes sparkling and the breeze from the swing-fan stirring the fine argent strands of his hair. Hercules rubbed his head, trying to clear it. If Hermes was here something unusual was up.
The wing-footed God arched a silvery brow.
"Why, Hercules, it's barely afternoon and you're already drunk!"
"If you had a wife like Dejanira you'd

Mitchell peered through the microscope at the tiny Encyclia cochleata seed. He examined it carefully for any hint of contamination by mold spores, insect eggs, or pollen. His trained eye took stock of its form and looked for any defect which might affect its viability.
It was clean and perfect.
He picked up his thick glasses, put them on, and used padded tweezers to lift the seed off the slide. He placed it in a tiny glass vial set into a rack of one hundred similar vials, each one also containing an Encyclia cochleata seed. Ten more identical racks awaited filling with seeds, then they would all be scrupulously labeled with species, date of harvest, location of harvest, and the date of preservation.
His tweezers took up another seed from the dish and put it under the scope. Removing his glasses, he leaned over and began the next inspection.
Most people would have found the work tedious at best, but Mitchell lo
Apartment No. 203 -- part 1 The word his father used to describe their new neighbors was Obnoxious. His mother chose inconsiderate, trying to be a bit more conscientious. Finn, on the other hand, would say cool. The new neighbors were cool, and that was that. They blared their punk rock music at ear-shattering volume, and they had parties every weekend. On the rare occasion that Finn saw them, they were dressed like rock stars, and all three were ridiculously good-looking. The two women were in their early twenties, probably, (though Finn had always been bad at guessing age) One was a sultry-looking blonde with dark-lined eyes, hair down to her waist, always wearing hooker heels or combat boots, while her constant companion was a shorter girl, strawberry-red mohawked hair and a piece of metal pierced in every orifice. She always wore a leather jacket, and Finn assumed that the motorcycle parked in their apartment parking lot was hers. TApartment No. 203 -- part 16 years ago in General Fiction More Like This
Vivisection - 1 I bit my lip and turned up the volume on my mp3 player in a vain attempt to ignore the paper ball that had been thrown at the back of my head. I knew that more would come, but had learned to live with it. If you could call my pitiful existence living. It certainly didn't feel like it.Vivisection - 17 years ago in Horror More Like This
After school each day, I would die. Well, not literally, but I'd die inside. It sounds corny, but it's the only way I can describe the bitter emptiness of my soul. The empty shell that was my body, me, would enter the empty house that I lived in, with its empty cupboards and empty greetings that would occasionally await me. After the empty day, I try to add something to my empty life.
I don't know what caused me to start doing this in the first place. It can't have been a plea for attention, because I didn't want any contact with people. I hated them all. Yet, to leave them all behind and head off to a better place seemed impossible. So pathetic.
But now, ev

In the bustling downtown of the great northern city of Holdenskaldt, Tiberius Contral stood at the gilded iron gate of the Von Huygen manor and did some last minute primping before his interview. He was wearing a brand new outfita smart green jacket with elaborate buttons and a high collar, a white cravat for his neck, satin slacks, and leather bootsand it was stiff and itchy and made him feel about as comfortable as a dog in a hat. He combed his thick brown hair behind his ears with his fingers and then shook his head again so he would look elegantly disheveled, just as a busy professional wizard should. He hoped he looked naturally well-to-do and sophisticated, rather than like a gussied-up commoner, which was what he actually was.
He didnt like having to play dress-up, but he was meeting with Ehud Von Huygen, lord of all Holdenskaldt and Headmaster of the Ronian Academy of Wizardry, and it wouldnt do to waltz into his

"Charlie I'm going out for a walk." I called to him, while he sat watching TV in the living room. I needed to get some fresh air; this house was going to drive me insane. Maybe spending a whole summer here was a stupid idea
"OK!" He called. "Be careful!" I rolled my eyes, and grabbed my rain coat another thing I hated. This weather. I was used to the beautiful clear skies of Florida. I prayed it wasn't raining out as I walked out the door. I threw open the door, and was slapped in the face with a wall of rain. I groaned.
I threw my raincoat on, and ran outside, nearly slipping in the process. I walked out back, and slowly entered the dense forest. The rain seemed to slow slightly, put I was still already soaking wet. It was freezing, and wet. Two things I despised. I kept walking into the forest, trying to think things threw. I still hadn't applied to any colleges yet, and at this rate it looked like I was going to a community college
Acceptance Ch 1 Joscelin arched his back and gasped. Lips trailed down his neck, across his collarbone, teeth nipping at his chest before latching onto his nipple. Jos groaned and tightened his hold, forcing himself to shove the other male away and flip him onto his back. Jos straddled his narrow waist, trailing his hands across the tight abs and smooth pecs below him before leaning down, eyes trained on the other male's lips.
Moaning slightly, Jos relaxed against the other male, flicking his tongue against his mouth, urging the lips to part and let him inside. Slipping his tongue forward Jos took control of the kiss, stroking and tasting with his tongue, his hands massaging along the other male's sides, trailing lower and lower, one hand sliding down between the other male's-

It drove the other colors mad, being in each other's rooms. They coexisted just fine anywhere else, but as soon as they entered the suffocating presence of somebody else's overpowering hues, it was all a headache and a panic attack.
Pulling himself out of bed, Pink slowly shuffled over to his coral dresser and got himself a tank top and some white jeans. Even they had the slightest touch of his hue, everything in his dresser having looked like somebody stuck a red sock in his load of whites. Not that Pink minded - the color befit him.
