SpyroXCynder- Guide You HomeThe light mist from the waterfall sprayed out onto Cynder as the summer breeze blew. She sprawled out onto her back, pink wineskins out on the ground. She lay on the ledge of her home cooling off. After a hard day of repair at Warfang, Cynder was glad to have the evening off.SpyroXCynder- Guide You Home3 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
The black dragoness listened to the roar of the waterfall as she lay. She closed her eyes, wishing that she wouldn't have to go back to Warfang tomorrow. These days were simple, repair the city one day, practice elemental training with the Guardians the next, and then various other things that needed to be done throughout the areas of the dam and the villages.
Cynder was deep in thought, so she did not hear Spyro come up next to her. "Cynder?" A sweet, tender voice asked. Cynder opened her eyes and rolled onto her belly to face the purple dragon.

Upon a throne of ivory,
Dwelleth he at every hour,
His shadow falleth down to thee.
And his very shadow's crown
thou blindly wanderest along,
until thou seest its piercing end.
Thine eyes thou humbly keepest down,
although the urge is truly strong
thy field of vision to amend.
"Your majesty?" thou callst for him,
as thou drawest nearer to his throne.
The light beginneth just to dim
as earthquake in its dreadful tone,
a roaring sound of rumbling stone,
it covereth thy fearful moan.
Soon thou seest two skillful claws,
which keepeth each a wooden stick
with strings robustly tied around,
to which thine arms and legs are bound.
They languish, tighten, thereby cause
thy rotten limbs to punch and kick.
The King, he wanteth thou to dance,
to the somber war beat of his hands.
Submissively thou wilt obey
in spite of what the future brings.
Thou either beest his molding clay
or hangest by thy puppet strings.

Though thy teeth be sharp, and thy claws great, waste not thy strength on me,
for thy beauty doth pierce mine heart worse than any wound.
Do not waste thy breath upon me, for I burn already a passion far greater than I can bear.
Oh dragon, hold back not thine beauty from mine eyes any longer, spread thy wings for me, let me see thy grace, thy majesty, thy glory complete!
Though thy scales turn away the sword, they cannot turn away my love for thee.
Though thy wings block the sun, they cannot block mine thoughts so bright of thee.
Though thine eyes stare death, I . . .only have eyes . . . for thee.
Chapter OneGreen; there was a big, fuzzy wad of it, right in his face.Chapter One5 years ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
Draq snorted, the scent of earth strong in his nose. Why did his head hurt so much? Why couldn't he remember the answer to that question?
The fuzzy green slowly came into focus. Grass. Lots of it. As if he didn't have enough questions; Why was he lying face-down in the grass? Draq ignored the dizziness clouding his vision and pushed himself upright. The landscape tipped to the side, threateningly, as though it would send him rolling down the steep sides and back into unconsciousness. He groaned. Where was he?
As his vision cleared, he saw that he was on a hill, other hills sloping away on every side, and a long valley stretched out before him into the distance, framed on each side by two hills growing taller and sharper as they spread out. It was nothing like home. Into the emptiness, he called, "Hello?"
Any echo that might have resounded was swallowed by the depths of the grass. His head throbbed with the effort. And, to add

"Hiya! This is Melanie again! Human life is complicated. They have such different rules than faeries. Sometimes you can't realize that you did something wrong until you see angry faces surrounding you. It's not fair. Don't walk on the food, making funny faces is impolite, that doesn't belong to you, people feel uncomfortable when you walk around naked... Gimme a break!"
"Also, it's hard to live in a place where everything is made for someone ten times taller than you. You try drinking from a glass of sugarjuice when you're only half a foot tall. I could use your cereal bowl as a bathtub. ...sometimes I do. Hee hee!"
"Being small has many advantages though. You can see things that everyone else doesn't. You can hide from angry people more easily. And you can find shinies in the cracks where nobody looks, like the couchseat! But it also has some sour times too, like dealing with spiders. Spiders are big ol' ugly, hairy, bunch-o-g

I leaned against Mejorak, my drake. His copper eyes lifted from the immense hearth, and he gave me a slight nudge. I stroked his muzzle, the scales feeling like chainmail under my calloused hands. "Always," I replied. "Idiots, the lot of them. Dragonslayers? Pah. They'd just as soon try slaying the very gods themselves. Nonetheless, I didn't want to leave you to face them alone and perhaps one day have to fight them. Much easier to have a human negotiate with the humans."

Within the Dragon Temple, in the middle of the day, a young purple dragon, Spyro, was sitting at the end of a hallway, relaxing, as he stood a few feet away from his mentor, Ignitus. The great Fire Guardian himself was laying fully on the floor, resting his old bones.
Spyro smiled to his sleeping mentor and continued to look around at the temple, until he heard the faint footseps of a dragon coming nearby. As the purple dragon looked around for the source of the footsteps, he faced towards the other end of the hallway, tilting his head slightly as he saw a small dragonlike figure about to emerge.
Curious and wide awake, Ignitus turned his head and gazed his eyes to where Spyro was looking to.
Slowly appearing from one of the hallways, was a small, young dragoness just about Spyro's size with shiny gray-black scales that are said to almost gleam, along with a red scaley belly. She has six horns on her head: two short ones at the bottom of her head nex

An attempt to understand the "flaming" against writers of Mary Sue characters.
I tried to list the "anti-Mary Sue" arguments, like boring clichee, not realistic etc. as reasons for not liking this kind of characters and commented on them /judged them in order to try to explain this hostile attitudes towards Sues and Sue writers by it. Nothing more. The rest is my speculation and sure, I'm not a scientist to back it up with actual research. My essay is based only on personal experience and observations on the internet.
It seems that many people get really upset about "original characters" in fan fiction, which match the "Mary Sue"-type ( most beautiful, most popular, most intelligent , most gifted insert anything positive you like character in a story).
The question is; why do readers react with hostility towards characters of that kind and authors who write them ? What exactly is it that makes that character type so controversial ?
