I wanted to offer some quick resources for those who may be interested in the spiritual work I do with animal parts, since I've been talking about it again lately, and also because it's part of why I created :iconPaganRitualTools: (since the main reason I started making ritual tools and other art with animal parts in the '90's was due to spiritual, sacred reasons). There's really not that much info available on the subject; most of the people I know who have worked with animal parts in neopagan spirituality did so based on the work I've done, though some of the innovations they've made have been pretty fascinating. And other than a chapter in Patricia Telesco's and Rowan Hall's "Animal Spirit", and a few scattered articles online (like Juniper's "Dead Things on the Altar: http://nature.pagannewswirecollective.com/2011/07/24/dead-things-on-the-altar/ ), I've found very little published information on non-indigenous uses of animal

Introduction about making handmade booksINTRODUCTION ABOUT BASIC TOOLS TO MAKE HANDMADE BOOKSIntroduction about making handmade books1 year ago in Art Features More Like This
Today I'd like to share with you some basic tips if you're interested in making handmade books. I've learned how to do that a few terms ago, at the university. As an art restoring adept I've been through the old, traditional ways of making books and added some modern touches to simplify that. I'm going non-professional so far, without expensive equipment, so if you'd like to give books a try you don't have to invest that much
The first and obvious thing that's needed for our book is paper. At that stage you have to decide what kind of book you'd like to make - you need lined or squared paper for notebooks, journals, cookbooks and basically everything that's meant to write in. Sketchbooks and scrapbooks require nice smooth plain paper and photo albums work best with thick and durable paper. Of course those are basics, you can use decorated paper or one suitable for
My Minecraft Testificate InfestationIn Minecraft there are these squidward like villagers called Testificates. In a recent update they were given new abilities such as having babies to repopulating a town based on the number of houses there are. Since the requirement for a "house" is simply a room with a roof and a door, I decided to spend my time building a massive city for the Testificates to populate, using a generated village as a starting point. My Minecraft Testificate Infestation3 years ago in Personal More Like This
After building a number of houses, I began noticing the little children running wild and there becoming quite a LOT of villagers. I undertook a huge task of building a BIG open area underground with a couple doors and lights. Because the area was so big, the Testificates began to... um... OVER populate.
These little buggers reproduced the village so fast that I couldn't keep up and soon they were overflowing out of buildings. Mob attacks couldn't keep up with the rate they were repopulating, and the iron golems that kept spawning (for every 15 villager a new one spawns) made
How to be a better artist -- My opinions.Decided to make this journal out of boredom. Please be aware these are just my opinions. How to be a better artist -- My opinions.2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I've done several of these things before and I'm not afraid to admit this either.
1.) Don't say you can't draw or you're not good enough.
Practice, practice, practice. No one becomes an artist overnight. If so, that would be silly. If your first few drawings come out looking bad, don't give up. Just keep drawing. In time, it'll get easier and you'll get better at it. NEVER expect your first drawings to come out looking like a Van Gogh -- that's too high of an expectation. They WILL be bad, trust me. But in time, they will get better and better and improve the more you practice.
Drawing classes, tutorials, and references help a ton! Seriously, they do!
My art a few years ago was SO BAD. Seriously. I'm like, ashamed of it now. Going back and looking at it, I can definitely see the improvement.
Take a look for yourself! XD

Endangered Africa ContestContest has ended, judging is in process.Endangered Africa Contest3 years ago in Personal More Like This
It has been just over a year since our last contest ended, therefore it's high time we started our next one!
And this is also a chance to celebrate reaching 1,000 members! I never thought this group would get this big. A big thank you to everyone who has joined and helped make this group what it is today!
This contest will be run along very similar lines as our African Predator contest, with multiple winners for multiple categories, listed below.
What We Accept
First of all you need to be a member of AfricanValley in order to participate in this contest.
We accept animals that are of vulnerable, endangered or critically endangered status as decided by the IUCN red list of threatened species. This information can be found on their website, or by looking up said species on wikipedia (which is quicker and easier), as wiki's information is taken from the IUCN's list. You may be surprised to find a lot of animals
Internet Copyrights 101Since there was an app recently on Facebook which resulted in numerous copyright infringements and legal issues, I figured now would be a good time to refresh everyone on basic internet copyright rules. These rules are by no means complete, official, or set in stone, and there are always exceptions.Internet Copyrights 1013 years ago in Personal More Like This
Follow the TOS
This should be self explanatory, but please follow the Terms of Service agreements you signed for whatever website you're currently on. Not all websites have the same rules and restrictions in their TOS and you should treat each site individually and not expect that since you got away with something on one site means you'll get away with it on another. Most websites do not allow uploading of content that is not your own.
Ask permission first.
A lot of copyright infringement happens because people don't bother to take the time to ask the original creators if it's alright to repost. It usually doesn't take much effort to send an e-mail or note asking for pe

RespectI'd like to take the time to talk to you all about respectRespect2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I recently read a journal where the writer asked a question "What ever happened to artists respecting other artists" and I'd like to say, I do! I respect all artists who have a respect for art and other artists, if that makes sense.
People who trace, steal, and don't credit those who deserve credit for their own hard work makes them ignorant, it makes them disrespectful to the artist and the art themselves. If you have so much pride that you can't even link back to the base you TRACED over, then I don't have respect for you. I respect people who respect others and are able to show some humility.
Not everyone is perfect, not everyone is a great artist and if your new to the art field OF COURSE you are going to reference, and there is absolutely no shame in that, we all do it, it is how you learn and grow. I believe that if you reference from a picture completely free handed, then you should be able to post the work without cr
GossipIt has come to my attention that I was recently blogged about on some "Artist Confessions" forum. The person who wrote about me said I was a nice girl and all, but all the characters faces looks the same.Gossip2 years ago in Personal More Like This
and to be completely honest with you all, I agree. This has been something I've been struggling with for awhile now. Everytime I try new facial expressions they look derpy, so I just stick to the few basic ones I know look good. However, I don't really have much time to practice new expressions right now. I've been working so often and trying to finish the commissions I owe people as quickly as I can but still with quality. I don't have time to struggle with a different facial expressions as of late.
I do start college in September where most of you know I will be taking art and that will hopefully help me stray out of my comfort zone.
However, some of the comments people left in this blog about me were just down right mean and completely unnecessary, so I asked them to take it down.

Resting Up and Suggestions?Stressed OutResting Up and Suggestions?2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Sorry I haven't been around much lately. I think I need time away from the internet. Both to relax and to brush up on my artwork. I am genuinely sick of all the hate surrounding my namesake online, and when I say "genuinely," I mean it. The stress that the recent resurgence of trolling I've gotten has caused me to be quite ill. I know I shouldn't let what anonymous people on the internet say about me get to me, but it does. I need time to recuperate, to spruce and fix up SYAC, and to get back to a point where I genuinely enjoy drawing again. Right now there's no love or passion in my artwork, and it's mostly because of my defeated attitude: "Why bother, they'll just tear it apart anyway."
That whole "project positive" has been a complete bust too. I failed to live up to the idea, and in the process got really sick. I guess trying to force out a constant positive attitude like that was a mistake.
Still working, plus a surprise!
In the meantime, I have still be

when artists refuse to draw anthro art at all and/or get freaked out by it, even if it's just like catgirls that are human but with ears and tail. SURE, there's a lot of pretty disturbing anthro art out there. but then there's stuff like GoldenWolf, and DarkNatasha, and KhaosDog, and Tatchit...who just do completely awesome stuff. and seriously, did no one else grow up loving Loony Toons? that's anthro, too.
on the flip side, it also bothers me when anthro artists refuse to draw humans and/or ferals. i LOVE ferals and i love getting practice in humans. i'm not good at them, but i love being commissioned for them because i really need to practice. i don't understand why people say no. life, it's all about learning, guys! it's like pokemon! "i wanna be the very best, like no one ever was". gotta catch 'em all, get good at everything, nice and well-rounded. can't just be good at one thing, it's too easy to exploit a weakness that way. haven'
