Starfleet Command, San Francisco
The office overlooking San Francisco Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge was luxuriously furnished. Several oil paintings of nebulae, one of a black hole and one of the Starfleet Academy complex adorned the walls. Along one of the walls was a large couch and coffee table. Four deep-cushioned chairs facing a large desk on one side, while on the other side of the desk was a chair that looked curiously the the captain's chair of a Federation starship, though without many of the controls along the armrests. The desk itself was scrupulously neat nothing loose or extraneous on it at all, with one exception: A small glass bottle laid on it's side and supported by a wooden stand, with a small model of an old Constitution-class starship inside and a gold band on the neck with the letters JHR inscribed on it..

There will be a simple, quiet exit,

What Music Is"What is music?"What Music Is4 years ago in Urban & Spoken Word More Like This
A young boy asked me that today.
I bent down to his level, so our faces met eye to eye, and, grinning, I responded.
"Why do you care? Out of our world today, why is it you who cares?"
He looked thoughtfully back at me with his eyes, too full of wisdom for his age, and he said, "Because I want to make good music someday."
I liked his answer, so I told him I did. He smiled, seeming honestly pleased that I liked his opinion. He grabbed my hand as I stood up, pleading at me with his eyes, and when I looked into them, I knew he wanted to hear more.
"I will show you the things that proper music make." I said to him. And as I walked along down the street with this child's hand in mine, I thought of how trusting he was being. I didn't know what to make of it, but as he followed along the street with me, I began to point out the things with which proper music was made.
"Music," I said, pausing to think. He looked up at me, as he had noticed my pause because we had stopped walki

You Can't Get MarriedYou can't get married. No, I'm talking to you. And if you are married, it's going to be annulled. You may only live with your "spouse" as a citizen of the United States. You may not be carried on your co-habitant's insurance. You may not inherit any of your cohab's property when they die. You may not be allowed into the hospital room with them because you are not family. Any children you have go to your cohab's parents because they are their relatives, not you. And if you decide to go live somewhere else, you get what you came into the house with. You're a roommate. You're a booty call. And if you're being supported by your roommate and have sex with them you are trading sex for goods and services. In other words, you are a whore. You Can't Get Married4 years ago in Editorial More Like This

We departed the Enterprise point three two hours previously, and are proceeding en route to Kalvar 7 as per schedule. All crew are present and correct as rostered. Ensign Lovett is proving himself quite capable as a navigator, but displaying certain emotional inconsistencies that should be addressed by a competent person at some point in future. Aside from some inappropriate staring, the basis of which I cannot fathom from certain female ensigns, all is proceeding quite smoothly so far.

"...Jamie?" she said cautiously. I flinched and turned away, covering my chest and the breasts that were exposed only moments before she burst in. David, the one who had pulled my shirt open and yanked my bindings down, was gone. He had disappeared out the back door of the locker room.
"If...you tell anyone...I'll kill you," I said. I was shaking. She nodded, making her blonde hair bounce and sway. She quickly removed her jacket- something she never did- and wrapped it around me. I weakly slipped my arms through it, still trying to conceal my breasts, and before I could reach my hand there to do it myself, Andy had zipped the jacket up to my collarbone. I caught a glimpse of her wrists as she did so, and the fading, red scars that marked the skin there. She had confided in me once that she had cut herself

92. All That I Have The air was heavy, cool, and a little stale. The overhead lights buzzed slightly and sent a soft glare off the white semi-gloss walls, reflecting more brightly off the clear plastic game-cases resting on the racks that lined the walls. The room smelled dusty and faintly plasticky, that reassuring smell that whispered technology to the young men and women who frequented the game store. A beepy, jangly soundtrack filtered in from speakers in the ceiling, overlapped by the sound effects emanating from the small handheld game being played by the youth lounging behind the counter. The single customer in the store finally made a selection and carried her chosen box to the register. The clerk paused and set aside his game and took the case from her.92. My whole world collapsed around me in the blink of an eye. The sight of blood had never bothered me before. I was used to seeing and tasting it while hunting. But I had never seen so much of it in one place. It was everywhere, engulfing my senses so at first it was all I could see. Then I saw the bodies; no, remains. The forest floor was littered with what was left of my family and friends.
Then I heard the screams. Men in shiny metal armor were still tearing apart the last member of my clam. It was my father, Drake. He often took on the form of his spirit animal, the cape buffalo, but I had never seen him in his were-form. He was enormous, towering over the men and their horses. He reared up and slammed hooves the size of tree trunks into the ground, crushing the men in front of him. He then lowered his head and suddenly threw it up, throwing men and horses with his massi

Light had never been this nervous since he found a pregnancy test in Takadas purse a few weeks after he had a one night stand with her in college; luckily, it was a false. The church was beautifully decorated with flowers, candles, ornaments. Every pew was filled with friends and family. Lights mother sat in the front row. There were tears in her eyes, but she was smiling; her little boy was growing up so fast.
Beside him was his father and his best man, Matsuda. The altar was prepared and waiting for the bride-to-be to come down the aisle. Light took a shuddering breath. His heart was pounding so hard against his sternum that it might break off and fly out of his tuxedo. That would definitely scare the withering priest to death. Then they would have a wedding/funeral. Perhaps he could say his vows while they were burying the old geezer?
What was Light thinking? He was getting married! He couldnt have thoughts like this on his wedding day, right in front

Kamijo sat in a daze through the wake. He still couldn't get over the shock of his best friend's death. He hoped it was all just one bad dream that he would wake up from. But the longer he sat there staring at Jasmine's coffin and hearing murmured apologies and condolences, the more convinced he was that this was really happening. In some deep part of his mind he knew that Jasmine really was dead, but his heart didn't seem to be connected to his brain. Knowing that if it realized this truth it might break in two and possibly leave him incapacitated for the rest of his life.
Kamijo didn't remember walking up to the casket, but suddenly he was there staring at the peaceful form of Jasmine. He was wearing an elegant black and red dress, surrounded by hundreds of roses of every color imaginable. His eyes were lined by sparkling gems, and adorned on top of his head was an amazing headdress that consisted of red and black roses and a black and white pol
