Harley awoke to carnage. Blood ran in scarlet mini-rivers along the dirty floor. Her body and mind were numb. Unsure if the blood was her own, she dare not move. She let out a small whimper of pain and lay still.
Wherever she was, it smelt raw. It was the smell of the sawdust in a butcher's shop: chill and coppery. And there was a sound that sounded like dripping water. But Harley knew it couldn't be water, not with that smell. It was blood, dripping onto the floor. Her blood. Harley pushed herself up onto her elbows and looked around.
She was in a half destroyed church. The huge oak front door had been destroyed; completely slashed and shredded, like a giant claw had been taken to it, nothing remaining but one or two lolling pieces of wood, creaking inwards on the hinges. "What am I doing ?"
Harley managed to push herself onto her hands and knees, where she stayed for a moment, trying to stop herself

----Chapter 48: Return to the Sacred Grove
“Only the true ruler of the Twili can destroy the Mirror of Twilight,” Midna had once said.
Link had tried not to think about Midna’s disappearing image on the way back into Hyrule, but it was the only thing that continued to hammer inside his brain. The image of her beautiful figure vanishing into white dust … and her sad, small smile.
Her single tear had been enough to shatter the Mirror of Twilight completely. Zant’s magic had fractured it into shards, but as the true ruler of the Twili, Midna had broken it so that its glass had again become nothing more than the sand from which it had been birthed. There was no means of repairing an artifact now scattered invisibly in the sand and washed away by the tides of the wind.
“The Mirror of Twilight is our last potential link…” she had said, and Link knew that the only lasting portal between their worlds

The wind howled madly outside the castle walls. Rain poured in through any open windows and lightning cracked, lighting up the night sky. The beautiful land of Hyrule rarely had nights like these. Usually you could see the stars shining bright above the people's heads, a full moon resting neatly in the sky. Hyrule castle stood in the middle of the night's storm, taking the full beating of the cold rain.
Inside the castle, sat a blonde haired boy in a green tunic, leaning in a chair up against the grey stoned walls. He was playing on a small blue ocarina with the symbol of the Triforce on it. A warm fire blazed next to him, the smell of warm stew wafting throughout the castle. A door swung open and in walked a plump woman carrying another large cauldron full of stew.
"I thought I heard you down here, Link!" She laughed, placing the pot on a nearby table, giving him a warm, hearty smile. Link stopped playing and returned the smile.
"Good evening, Impa. Am I disturbing you?" He

A young boy with dirty blond hair woke up to a man's loud shouting. He climbed the ladder near his bed and poked his head out of the window.
"I need your help at the farm!...Where's Epona?" Link shot the man a questioning look and looked around the land surrounding the house.
"Good question, Fado...Have you seen Ilia?" The burly farmer adverted his eyes and shrugged his shoulders, causing Link to fix him with a more then piercing glance.
"Fado...?! Where is she?!" Link demanded, beginning to climb out of the window.
"I-I have no idea! Listen Link, just come by the farm once you find Epona, okay?!" The farmer made a wild dash back to the farm just as Link hopped out of the window.
"Damn goat farmer..." He muttered under his breath. He hopped down from his roof and began to walk towards the forest springs. Once he got there he f

----Chapter 6: Hero Chosen by the Gods
Link raced across the rickety bridge that led toward where the beginning of his nightmare had taken form. As he stepped off the last of the planks and onto solid ground, already he could feel the beckoning darkness that rose high and offered no escape. Uneager to relive the experience, his pace quickly cut from a gallop to a creep. Just looking over the twilight barrier made Link’s fur stand completely on end and his eyes burn.
He slinked forward, the orange highlights blinding him. Here, Midna leapt off his back and approached the wall of blackness. “The Faron Woods you know so well are now covered in the twilight,” said Midna, and it seemed to him that there was something new in her voice. Though, whatever Link may have detected at that moment, was gone with the next. “You may not be able to come back here. Are you still willing to go?”
It took Link minute to bark his positive response, and though he f

Canada groaned and rolled over, blindly smacking at his alarm clock. When the beeping continued, he grudgingly opened his blurry eyes so he could press the 'OFF' button. I thought I didn't set my alarm last night, he thought groggily. Confused that the beeping had not stopped, he glanced at the glowing red numbers to see that it was almost 3:30pm in the afternoon. Jolting upright in bed, he fumbled around for his glasses, dropping them on the floor before finally succeeding in putting them on along with a pair of sweatpants.
Still hearing the beeping, he got quickly out of bed and went over to the window. Blinking against the harsh sunlight as he tied the drapes apart, Canada looked out and saw a beautiful day. The sky was a bright blue with a speckling of fluffy white clouds and the trees were swaying gently to an invisible breeze as birds flew from one to t

He was hot.
Why was it so hot?
Blue opened his mouth to complain about it but realized that his throat felt like it was on fire, and decided it would be better to simply open his eyes and glare at whatever was making him feel so warm. His eyelids, however, felt like they weighed a ton, and Blue's resolve crumbled. He settled for making a discomfited noise and shifting. It worked- within a moment there was a sudden wash of cool across his face, and another against his chest.
Someone was speaking to him, but the voice sounded so far away. It sounded like
"Blue, can you hear me?"
Soft, cool fingertips on his cheeks jogged his memory.
"Red " He was surprised by how rough and cracked his voice was, and by the sudden flare of heat and pain in his throat.
"Ssh, Blue, don't try to talk you're pretty sick " Red's voice was worried, and Blue felt the corner of his lip twitch in a grin. He nodded, then coughed and winced.

At this exact moment one year ago, I stood against the King of Evil himself. I winced at the memories as I sat and stared at the ceiling from my bed. At the time I was only seventeen and yet still managed to kill him, be declared a war hero, become knighted, and earn a place at Hyrule Castle; though the feat was not without its negative aspects.LoZ: Hero's Blood, Chapter 14 years ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
My eyes instinctively moved to my right shoulder as I remembered, still thankful it wasn't my left. The Evil King nearly cut off my arm and it still didn't move quite right, however it still functions perfectly as a shield arm. I moved my left hand to it and flinched. The spot was still tender, and this wasn't surprising to me. The doctor did say it wouldn't heal anywhere near quickly, and the scar would be there my entire life.

Link ran one hand through the bangs of his hair, brushing it away from his eyes, leaning back against the stone wall behind him. It had been foolish, really, investigating the strange tunnel he had found in Kokori Forest alone. But his curiosity had won over all reason. After wandering along it for a time, he discovered the wooden-like walls around him were now stone, as if he had entered some unknown temple. Sighing, he shook his head a little, looking about him, blue eyes trying to see through the darkness.
A sudden gust of cool air made him shiver. He stood normally, only to have a sharp blast of air whirl around him, increasing so sharply he stumbled about a moment before thudding into the wall again. The air died down, and he gave a sigh of relief, before realizing something. He had no idea which way was out now. Frowning a little, Link took a cautious step away from the wall, and after finding no wind picked up again, starting in one direction, taking

Spyro, with Cynder by his side, pressed on through the ashes of the place he once called home. He recognised the big tree that himself and Sparx used to play at...before he threw himself and his brother into this war.

He also worried about his foster parents. Sparx was probably worried sick about them. "They can't be dead, can they? I don't think I could bare to lose more than what I already have lost..."
Thoughts of Ignitus ran through Spyro's head. "He didn't need to help me....why was I so pushy when I wanted to learn about my past? Why didn't I just let him go in that cave? Sure, he might of been killed by Cynder by then, but..."

Dreams he never wanted to have again in his life, but secretly enjoyed?
