To get into the spirit, we want you to show us your monster side! Draw your "Monstersona", yourself as you would exist in the Monster High universe, and get creative!
Would you be a sea monster, a sasquatch, or maybe you're something out of a mad scientist's lab?
Submit your character here and I'll do a special Halloween day feature of some of the best monstersonas.
Check out these Monstersonas!
I tried to feature them all, but I didn't tell everyone to comment here with submissions, so it's possible I missed some
Tips For Commission ArtistsHello! I thought of making this small guide, based from my personal experience, to give tips to artists, mostly beginners, to be more successful at selling commissions, since seeing from my previous journal many had difficulty with it. So here are some tips to help boosting your sales.Tips For Commission Artists9 months ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Have your commission info somewhere visible
Possibly, people won't even know you are taking commissions or if they are open if you don't put your commission info somewhere they can see. You can do this in a journal, that I mostly recommend, since it will be showing into your watcher's inboxes and most of your watchers probably rarely visit your profile page. You could still also use the commission widget, or donation poll to write your info. You can also link to your commission info in your signature or the artist's comment of new drawings you upload.
Keep it simple
Don't add too many unnecessary rules or in

COSPLAY FRIDAY: A Heart’s A Heavy Burden
Howl’s Moving Castle 1
Howl’s Moving Castle is best known as the 2004 animated fantasy film written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki.
While it is as beautifully animated as all of Studio Ghibli's other films this was one of the few times Miyazaki based a film on an existing work. The film is an adaptation of British author Diana Wynne Jones’ 1986 young-adult novel by the same name and the first book in the Ho

The other day I received an e-mail telling me my automatic subscription payment had been suspended. Thinking it was a glitch, I logged onto my dA account to find out I've been given an 18-month premium membership! I'm not sure who sent it, or whether it was a general dA thing, but whoever did send it, THANK YOU! You're on my permanent cool-dude list.
I do apologise for the static on my end, but I have been a VERY busy JJ. VERY busy indeed. One bit of good news I can share with you is that I'm officially a Creative Writing Masters student and starting my course at the end of the month Other bits of good news I hope to share with you in the upcoming months. The Street Photography of Chris Weeks
It was only after many long frustrating hours of trying to describe what’s so special about the photographs of cweeks...
That I finally realized I was trying to describe something that wasn’t there.
I finally realized that the magical something that sets cweeks’ works apart from others is that his camera disappears. There is no sense as you look at his photos of street scenes and other captures that you are looking through a lens, even the lens of a particularly talented photographer. There is a sense of simply walking through a town and seeing what you happen to see – without the

Living Rainbow Taking Flight
The vibrant digital paintings of alicexz are fiery, emotional, and incredibly memorable.
The colors of her creations (mostly portraits of popular TV and Film characters) are unusually vibrant, which is remarkable considering how layered they appear to be. It’s sort of like what manga characters might look like if painted by one of the Dutch Masters. And this artist exhibits just the right amount of quirkiness to leave us wanting to know more: she has a penchant for painting redheads. But, then of course, there’s a lot of red and golden fire burning through most her artworks.
Coming OutIt's true, I am Chinese and I was born this way.Coming Out3 years ago in Personal More Like This
At a young age I began to notice this difference. I was attracted to neither boys nor girls. In middle school, I liked math, and in college, I did my homework all night long.
Being Chinese is not a choice, it is genetic. There are risks to being Chinese because society cannot accept the union between a human and a textbook. I have Chinese friends who didn't need sex because they could foreplay instruments and get screwed by O Chem instead. Now, they don't have a social life and are shunned by others.
But fear not, life will get better. I grew up as a Chinese and I am proud of it (just look at my tumblr user name Maid-en-China ). There is the LGBTC (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Chinese) community to help you be comfortable with your Chinese orientation.

Cthulhu is Still Calling
Written By techgnotic
Having been thinking a lot about the origins of our globally held Dragon mythos in a recent article Reptilicus Infernicus, I couldn’t help but notice the Cthulhu legend was always lurking at the edges of my mind as I was researching the subject matter.
The Enemy at the Gates, the “Other”, forever lurking in the darkness and plotting an invasion most evil and an enslavement most hideous, is probably the original seminal “narrative” that was born when humans first acq
Help save 2D animation with 'Hullabaloo!'2D is a dying art in film. I don't want to see it go away forever. You don't either. So a group of Disney veterans have grouped together to create 'Hullabaloo'. A project currently set up as a short. But with your support & donations, they can make more shorts, expand it into a web-series, a TV show or even a full-length movie. Hullabaloo is set in a Steampunk universe, stars female protagonists and action galore.Help save 2D animation with 'Hullabaloo!'8 months ago in Personal More Like This
Right now, the donations are currently at over $40K after only starting a week ago. That's half way after 7 days! But they still need more. You can donate anything from $1 to $5000. The more you donate, the better the rewards. You gain access to previews, concept art, a copy of the script, animation lessons and if you pay the full $5K, you will be credited as an official producer!
There are two more shorts at the ready. But they require a lot more. $140K for their second short 'Curse of the Cheshire Cat', $160K for their full original orchestral soundtrack and $225K for t

Historically wrong (in a good way!)
So I follow this deviant, Gambargin, who is undertaking a really awesome project called the "Historically Wrong Sketch Series." Basically fed up with the way women in armor are depicted in most fantasy art, he has endeavored to draw women in historically inspired armor -- i.e. no "formed" breastplates or maille bikinis!
At any rate, his artistic skills blend beautifully with a passion for research, to delightful results!
Hacker Alert (Read, No Panic - ended)Hey guys; this is just a small warning - there's currently a hacker group going around on dART that steals your login info by using already hacked accounts. Simply, by use of coding, this group has changed the url path of several accounts (one of their tricks is by posting a comment on your works, claiming it has been stolen, followed by a link), so that when you go to visit their profile page, you are instead redirected to what seems to be the dART login page. But it's not! If you take a look at the url, you will see that it's in fact not a dART url at all. This what the fake login page looks like:Hacker Alert (Read, No Panic - ended)2 years ago in Personal More Like This
One of the victims is neomoti - she has been accused for being the hacker, but this girl is not at fault; the hacked account is still in their possession, so she has opened another instead to start over -> XxneomotixX; she explains it in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-tVxQuspZk (reuploaded)

Artists have always feared that they are unappreciated and that the march of progress comes only from business, science and their machines. 1984 was imagined by an artist projecting these exact fears. Our guest essayist suggests the computer will never be our master, but only the super high speed counting machine it was meant to be leaving humans with only one pure task— being creative.

Only half an hour ago... I saw the Hobbit..... :iconrlytearplz: Yeah, that was my expression. I am SUCH a Lord of the Rings fan!!!! Oh man... just.... just... I CAN'T EVEN!!! :iconiloveitplz:
Okay. Where do I even begin?! The movie was three hours of pure AWESOME!!! I especially love young Bilbo (played by Martin Freeman)! He's just got this adorable puppy dog face! And he's also very funny. And adorable. Aw man, I just wanna hug him! *clears throat* So the gist of the movie is that Gandalf the Grey recruits Bilbo to be the burgler for group of dwarves who are trying to reclaim their home from a giant fire-breathing dragon named Smaug!!! And even though the most you see of Smaug is his shadow, his tail, his FIRE, and his beautiful... orange... eye...... *gets distracted* Smaug is just freaking awesome, and I cannot W

Okay, on Sunday, I saw the movie Chasing Mavericks. It's a surfing movie, and it reminded me a LOT of Surfs Up (except in a few parts....). Let me just say that this movie is incredibly.... emotional. Gerard Butler (or Stoick as you may know him) was awesome in it!!! But it sounded like he was trying to do an American accent sometimes, and then he would unconsciously revert to his Scottish accent. But I love his accent. Now, there were two parts in the movie where I cried. Not the "tears streaming down my face" kind of crying, but the "I'm terrified and sad and my eyes are leaking salt water" kind of crying. The first part was in the middle when something incredibly sad happens out of nowhere, and the second part was the ending....
.... the freaking ending. I swear, it took me by freaking surprise. Beca

Well, while I'm here, I might as well take this time to tell you guys about this thing that's really pissing me off. My sister tried out for the school volleyball team, and she made it! Congrats, Mo! This other girl who sucks at volleyball (I won't say her name because it's a taboo) tried out, and she - not surprisingly - did NOT make the team!!! In fact, the only reason she made the team in middle school is because her mother (Crazy Tracy, or Mentally Ill Tracy as we call her) is freaking terrifying and she stalked the coach until he let her play.
But now that she didn't make the team, her mother CALLED THE COACH and asked if she could practice
