Sketchbook Pro 6So most of you know that I'm a Sketchbook Pro user.Sketchbook Pro 62 years ago in Personal More Like This
A few days back, Autodesk released Sketchbook Pro 6, and I think this is the version that's going to make a lot of people who have YET to experience Sketchbook Pro in full, or haven't really given the past versions a chance, switch over to making it their digital drawing software of choice; heck, even their PAINTING software of choice.
We still have the cleverly-designed user interface, that makes it easy on the eyes and mind when we're brainstorming and sketching. With the handful of new tools introduced, we still have a clutter-free drawing environment, and man, there's some awesome tools this time around. I'll go down the list:
The Brush Library
The main brush toolbar itself has a click-and-drag function, allowing you to store all your often-used brushes in each of the "lanes". You then can click the button on the upper-right and then a fu
Luxus and Luxrender Beginner's Guide - DAZ StudioLuxus and Luxrender Beginner's Guide - DAZ Studio2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Reality 2 might be the king of LuxRender plugins for DAZ Studio, and with Reality 3 on the horizon, that is not likely to change, but for those of us looking for something a little more flexible in the way it interfaces with LuxRender, the recently released Luxus is very a very attractive option. A number of LuxRender's features are not supported by Reality, but Luxus opens the options all the way out, and even has fields for entering newly released code to incorporate the latest LuxRender features.
The problem here is that configuring LuxRender's render engine and materials are complex tasks, and can be daunting to DS users that are used to the relative safety of the neat and simple interfac

Just deal with it...they told meHello guys, long time since I updated my deviant, from works to news and journals.Just deal with it...they told me1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Now going directly to the point of this journal in matter, I am going to try to clarify some of the reasons for the above recently mentioned and I am going to be as honest as possible. During the last 2 or 3 years I have been growing economically, and raising positions in big companies as a front end developer and web designer, and had to travel long distances to reach the office in a very uncomfortable crowded subway which left me with very little time for studying and painting. At the begging it felt great, it was good, I was ok with it, but eventually things turned up to be like anything I have ever expected. I started to feel more and more sick every month; 3 bronchitis, flu, Pharyngitis and pneumonia were some of the diseases I had all in just about 6 months.
Recently I assumed a great position in my new company and the situation went from bad to worse, as if my body was actually begging me to stop
Why Paint Missing Children?A little girl I knew was abducted. Why Paint Missing Children?9 months ago in Personal More Like This
I was very affected emotionally, and when I looked around my home town in the following days, I finally noticed all of the little fliers asking for help finding missing children. ( In America there are 1,500 missing child cases open every day. The fliers are often printed on the backs of coupons and are distributed as junk-mail.)
I just began saving the fliers, and after a year had a drawer full of them: Disposable mailers with tiny monochrome photos of missing children. It didn't seem right that these faces were so small and bland.
One night, out of nowhere, I was inspired to paint a full color portrait from one of the cards. As an artist, the question was this: How does a person paint a portrait of a missing child? I could not just approach it like an illustration. I could not just go about it as if it were a polite painting.
I began by putting away my brushes. They were too smooth. Too pretty. Too controllable. Instead, I began using palette knives

A word about the state of 2DAfter hearing about Disney gutting their 2D theatrical animation department, I think I've finally realised something. 2D isn't dying everywhere it's only dying in the North America's Theatrical movies. 2D is pretty much everywhere else in the world. Japan is still putting out several 2D TV shows and theatrical films, 2D is still big in TV animation (Even more bigger than CGI, since 2D is easier to achieve on a TV budget), and it's huge on the internet, serval shorts while made in adobe flash still use the frame by frame techniques of classic 2D animation. And it is possible for independent studios to make 2D animated films, recently the web series Dick Figures started a Kickstarter and managed to get enough money to produce a movie based on the series, in fact I think they're getting close to finishing it now. So in conclusion 2D is only dying when it comes to theatrical animation in North America, it's alive and well everywhere else and if we want to bring it back to North AmerA word about the state of 2D2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Political Journal: Anti-Bullying BulliesWARNING: Political opinions and positions lie herein! I'm just hoping to stimulate conversations if I can though.Political Journal: Anti-Bullying Bullies3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I do not honestly begin this with the intention of telling people what to think or state emphatically that my positions are unassailable. All I want to do is make mention of my understanding and support that with evidence.
If I veer from the rails correct me and I'll attempt to readjust.
If you dispute any points too, PLEASE state them below!
I want to talk about it.
Just to make it clear though, some of these positions will be objective.
Dan Savage (the man who shares the unfortunate distinction of being the chief editor of a local Seattle publication called The Stranger) recently gave a speech at a high school as part of his anti-gay-bullying series It Gets Better. In addition to encouraging homosexuals on their lifestyles he made a point of calling out what he saw as Christian hypocrisy...or to put it in his own words 'Bullshit'.
To paraphrase, he brought up the point th
How to Become a WriterNeed help on writing? Take a look what I found on "How to Become a Writer"How to Become a Writer2 years ago in Personal More Like This
(This is not my words)
1. Consider all of the options. Not everyone can create a blockbuster novel. Anyone with passion might be able to earn a living from writing. Copy-writing is probably the highest paid skill on the Internet. Article writing is in great demand for providing content for websites. Creative writers are in demand to bid for projects every day. So the first step in how to become a writer is to research all of the options.
2. Plan using logic and desire. Write the way you want, but decide whether or not you want to rely on the income from your writing. Not having a regular job will allow you to focus on your writing, but it's very unlikely that you'll be able to depend on it for at least a few years. Then you might get bored.
3. Think about what you want to write, instead of what you want to get from writing. You won't get anywhere if all you're after is money.
4. Be prepared to work odd hours -- y

The One True King of KingsIt’s amazing how a 60-year-old product of postwar nuclear paranoia can still be so important to people’s lives to this day. I have a lot to thank Godzilla for, so much to the point that, if I had a gun to my head, and had to declare a religion (ANY religion), I’d point at the Big Guy and say “That one.”The One True King of Kings2 months ago in Personal More Like This
That’s right. My god can beat up your god.
Anywho, it’s also amazing to see where Godzilla is now compared to…man, even 10 years ago. And ESPECIALLY 16 years ago. We’ve essentially seen this character tried to be taken down and twisted into something he’s not, and then rise from the beaten, bruised ashes only when a meek British director reminded everyone that we just need to step back and let him be Godzilla.
A favorite quote of mine, from the series, is the line from Godzilla and Mothra: Battle for the Earth (1992).
"This is beyond our present knowledge or understanding."

The panel was on Sunday @ 1:45pm in the Hall of the Moon. Even with the hall's large size, we filled the majority. On the panel was ata64, The4thaggie, Tohino, BeardedDoomGuy and myself. We started with a intro video showing some of the various works we have done. Afterwards, we talked a bit about what we do and how we do it. We left the majority of the time open for questions, which was good as there was a lot of them. Towards the end, the questions were cut (sadly) short so that we could show the Fallout video I have been working on nearly forever. Afterward, I got to talk to some of
3D Printing with Bees3D Printing with Bees7 months ago in Art Features More Like This
How awesome is this? Dewar's (the whiskey brand) created an ad campaign that used bees as a "3D printer" ...or as they called it "3-B printing." They created shells of the sculpture they wanted to create and let 80,000 bees loose inside of it. Over time, the bees created beautiful honeycomb sculptures.
Nice work Dewar's and the agencies behind the campaign, Sid Lee New York and The Ebeling Group!

“My paintings could probably be categorized into two groups,
especially if you are one of those people who like labeling things into neat packages.
I have a strong emotional side, sensitive and poetic, with all the adorning side-effects,
which enables me to lift paintings up to what has been referred to as visual poetry or poetic symbolism.
The other me is cool and collected, witty and sharp,
with a passion for philosophy, psychology and games…
That is rather the surrealistic and wacky me, and so are some of my paintings.”

Neo-Victorian Steam-powered Fantasy: SteampunkWelcome to the land that never was in an era that had never been looking forward to the future that never came.Neo-Victorian Steam-powered Fantasy: Steampunk9 months ago in Art Features More Like This
Welcome, to steampunk.
1. What is steampunk?
Steampunk is a retro-active subgenre of science fiction that incorporates elements of historical fiction, adventure, horror, speculative fiction, fantasy and alternative history. It exists as a hybrid genre that focuses on a re-imagining of the Industrial revolution when men and women create analog machines to achieve the fullest of human potential. Usually set in Victorian England during the mid- to late-1800’s or the American “Wild West” era, this genre incorporate the spirit of Jules Verne and H. G. Wells in their setting and general mood as well as the new-found relationship between man and his machine.
Steampunk has since become an aesthetic movement, sparking off subcultures that focus on visual art, comics, music, clothing, accessories and “custom mods” where modern-day m

Is Tolerance Tolerant? Its possible, I hope at least, to have a discussion with point and counter point without the need to become enemies. Is Tolerance Tolerant?3 years ago in Personal More Like This
How many times has someone silenced you with a simple offhanded reiteration of 'That wasn't very tolerant'?
Strange how tolerance sometimes becomes the byword of intolerance: namely censoring opposing positions without any due consideration.
Now not everyone uses 'tolerance' in this way. We all grew up learning tolerance was a good thing and that people should be accepted just the way they are. Its a good thing, definitionally, that you seek to act in a moral and friendly fashion and encourage that behavior in others by calling their attention to speaking out in anger or being unjust to others.
'Everyone is entitled to their opinions' is taken at face value as undeniable fact, yes? Of course. We're all well bred people who wouldn't dream of imposing ourselves on others.
Or would we?
This 'tolerance' and 'equality of opinion' stops dead in the mind of many for people w
