Transrealism THE NEW SCIENCE FICTION?
Transrealism was coined by writer, critic and mathematician Rudy Packer in his 1983 essay, “A Transrealist Manifesto,” as a description of a specific sort of science fiction that was emerging at that time.
This was the introduction of sci-fi elements into fic

Brother Against Brother - House of Cards meets Game of Thrones meets Jericho meets The Walking Dead (without the zombies). An increasingly tyrannical United States government, under a power-hungry, Machiavellian president (a Frank Underwood expy) goes too far and does something intolerable (Canceling elections? Arresting opposition? I dunno). A popular movement, from the left, right and center, calls for the President's impeachment. Things escalate, and a protest in Washington turns into a bloodbath. The United States is plunged into a new civil war, with many military and police defecting to the rebels' side. And of course, while the rebels are united against the government, they have very different views on what should emerge from the rubble.
The show would be very gray vs. gray morally, with sympathetic and utter bastard PoV characters on both sides. PoV characters can be leaders, foo

5 Tips On Fantasy ReligionsI'm not looking for a religious discussion. If someone starts one, I will rip your face off and block your comments.5 Tips On Fantasy Religions2 years ago in Personal More Like This
1. How involved a deity is affects religion. At least in fantasy, anyway. Now of course there are plenty of fantasy religions that don't bother to clear up whether a god actually exists, and the driving elements of the story or more about religion and power rather than spirituality. So considering whether god or gods actually really do exist at all in your story is a perfectly cromulent question. However, if a god does exist, and is constantly involved in the lives and well-being of its worshipers, enemies or non-believers might think twice before some serious smiting ensues. For that matter, followers of an attentive god might watch their mouths. (Look at the Greek Gods and what they did for slights!) A god may be protective, but that doesn't necessarily mean benevolent. In fact, a god or gods may have the att

MicroPasta/ CreepyPastas: The stories that I write aren’t real of course. The people in the stories aren’t based off anyone, and the point of view they’re written in aren’t mine. The point of my MicroPastas and CreepyPastas are to make you imagine a chilling and/or frightening situation, so if the character that is explaining an event and says something negative about a group of people or about a certain label, keep in mind that’s not how I, the writer, thinks. It’s called getting into different characters. Having an open mind. A writer must be able to understand different sets of views to be able to set a mood for a story.
Ex. If one of my characters were to say, “Short people are dangerous,” in a story that explains the character’s bad encounter with a shorty don’t comment saying you know a sweet short girl that goes to your school who
Portrait drawing and learning materialsSome time ago I got question about how I approach portrait and face drawing. I posted about it on Tumblr, but I thought why now share my thoughts here on DA alsoPortrait drawing and learning materials6 months ago in Personal More Like This
The first thing if You want to do portraits is to know anatomy. Start with learning what is under the skin and understand how it affects the face. When You got that covered You must know how face is structured. That will give You the knowledge how to light head. Head is a cube-like object. (yea! NOT sphere!) On face we have other little cube-like object (nose).
A great exercise is to find photos of a face and draw structure lines over it.
You see clearly now? The structure of a nose, where cheeks are, forehead etc.
After doing this You will be able to create the face from a memory using these helping lines.
Like here. This is Michael Hampton exercise:
You see how everything fits thanks to the structure lines?
Drawing a face requires TONS of practice. Find thousand photo references and practice.
...our destiny lies above us.In our history, the history of the human race... we've filled that time with such amazing things. But, it's how we got to this point that makes it so worthwhile. Setting aside what you believe in, for a moment, how did we get to where we are? How did we do things like go from Europe to the Americas? What did it take for the wonders of the Galápagos Islands to be found and told of? Exploration, my friends. Travel, journeys, explorers, engineers, risk-taking and definitely not without loss of life....our destiny lies above us.1 year ago in Personal More Like This

I'm not a foolish man, in the slightest. So, when you see or hear me ask the question, I already know the answer; "why has humanity stagnated so, since Neil Armstrong utter the words 'This is one small step for man'?" I know the answer. Oh, how I know the
A simple guide on: Commissioning an Artist. It's often not as simple as one wants it to be when both artist and client want it to be: Cost efficient, time efficient and quality efficient.A simple guide on: Commissioning an Artist.3 days ago in Personal More Like This
I've often spend my time discussing the best way to handle commissions with clients and artist friends that I came to the conclusion that clarity and understanding is key.
I will divide the guidelines I work with based on 3 commission types.
Book covers ( or illustrations)
Reading all 3 parts will give you the full scope as a lot of it applies to one another as well.
1. Reference board.
If you as a client have very specific characteristic features all set and done for your character it can be very useful for the artist if you'd make them a reference board of art and photos that portray these things.
The artist does not wish for a life story of your character ( unless specifica

The United States Congress is proposing two laws that address the problem of wide-scale unlicensed distribution on the Internet of motion pictures, songs, trademarked goods, and patented pharmaceuticals.
One of the proposals is called SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) and would direct search engines in the United States to block Internet sites outside the United States that are primarily engaged in distributing unlicensed content.Another proposal called PIPA (Protect IP Act) would block websites located in the United States as well. The Obama administration is putting a stop to these proposals. It wants the Internet companies and the content companies to get together and come up with more functional and less destructive solutions.

Guy Fawkes Day
Burns one man's vendetta on fires of drunk delight while Heaven's rainbows burn and sparkle in the sky.
The fascinated coo while boredom freezes cold and watches while his breath fades steaming into night.
The pennies for the guy jingle in their tin while he a traitor burns, his Cath'lic soul in Hell.
The animals run scared, not from fireworks, but from th'unholy sound of Guido's punishment.
He screams a silent scream that no-one else can hear, save God and pets and Satan's wailing hordes.

I was inspired to create this series by naikki while looking through her gallery of diverse artwork and reading through her journals which are focused on her favorite inspiring writers and thinkers. I felt certain there must be beautiful artwork in the form of portraits and tributes to these writers and their stories. I found most of naikki's choices of quotes to be inclusionary, redeeming and welcoming to any artist on their own path. Instead of just crediting naikki with the inspiration for this new series on depthRADIUS, I also invited her to provide a quote about Herman Hesse of her own to kick off this series.
Contemplations of the sharp-eyed mystic: when words become the palette to paint the journey
