I've been looking at a lot of minimal drawings for a while and I really love some of them. I especially love *IleanaHunter style. So I decided to have a go at something along these lines too, with her permission of course
So this is my version of a minimal style drawing. I love this reference picture, but have no idea where it came from But I can say it is not mine, I just drew it UPDATE: I found the ref - www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=318+…
Materials this time: A4 Mellotex, the drawing is about 8"x9" Graphite pencils - 2H, 2B, 4B, 6B Erasers Tortillion Time - About 8 hours or so
This is a drawing of the very beautiful Kelly Eden Her picture has been the reference for the first months project of our new group Reference -
I decided not to draw the whole image and just took a part of it to focus on, but the My Little Ponies on her corset were too cute to leave out, so there they are
Materials: A4 Mellotex Graphite (H, HB, B, 4B and 8B) Pink Faber Watercolour pencil unwatered Eraser Soft brush Time: I think around 20-22 hours
The whole thing seems to have a bit of a pink tint to it, i dont know why, I think its the work of my scanner
Thank you for looking
There are some WIPs here if anyone likes these things -
EDIT: I got some advice from someone who thought the pink coloured parts could do with a bit of brightening. I've played around a little bit again as its a wee bit brighter in real life. So, the pink now looks like it does on paper but the tint over everything, i dont know why its there and dont know how to get rid of it
September #Draw-Along is finally finished I made it just in time
So this image for the main part of my drawing is the poster for The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus and I've added a mirror frame and noose. If you've seen the movie you'll know why The reference can be found on the front page of the #Draw-Along group.
Materials this time: Graphite pencils 2H, 2B and 4B both wooden and mech Blue tac and Eraser Tissue Tortillion A3 Canson Bristol Board (most horrible paper ever!!!) Time: About 22-23 hours, something around there
NOTE: I know some of you lovely dA friends get a bit miffed about the Black&White Club rejecting art, so I thought I'd share the reason this one was declined The highlight on her nose is too white ('tis the paper and my scanner, it's just like that, I didn't do a thing) the highlights that look like glitter are distracting (um, they were put there on purpose) and the eyes are unapportioned (that's great to know, I though they looked about right). So there you have it Another one bites the dust
I recently watched Dorian Gray and Ben is just soooo handsome and charismatic .... I had to draw him, this one and I have another lined up too
I've been drawing this for ages, little bits here and little bits there, I think I lost the plot for a while.
Also, this started out as graphite, but is now a big mixture of graphite, carbon and pastel :$
Materials: Graphite Pencils - Wooden and Mechanical (HB to 8B, the 8B is now dead) Carbon Pencil 6B, also dead White Pastel Erasers (I found an eraser that gets rid of 8B pencil!!!!!!! Awesome) Hahnenuhle Nostalgie A4 paper (that is why the image is kinda grainey, my scanner is not friends with it yet, or maybe its the operator ) Time: Not sure about 6-7 hours or so
Also, the lovely *Ilojleen is drawing this same reference, once she has finished, I'll pop a link in here, her's is looking fantastic
NOTE: I don't really know for sure where the minimal type style drawings originated, but as I said in my last minimal drawing, *IleanaHunter is the person I admire most for this style, so credit goes to her from me. Hopefully a bit of me is still in here though
September Draw Along WIP - I'll add more here as I go along.
So about 4/5 hours so far. Sorry about the crappy photograph It's A3 and I didn't want to stitch the WIP's together but I will for the final drawing
WIP 1 and 2 - I think about 9-10 hours on it so far and I'm guessing about halfway there
WIP3 - This one is my third and final WIP. I think I have about another 8 hours or so to get this finished so hopefully in a couple of days Again, sorry about the really poor quality photo, the final will be scanned and much clearer
