"So yeah. Do you think she likes me?" asked the young Bostonite, who put his bat behind his head so it's resting on his shoulders. "Yo, hard hat dida ya hear me?" The short Texan looked up from his gun. He has grease all over his face and clothing; he then put his hand on his helmet and starting rubbing his head.
"What were ya'll saying boy?" He then got back to work.
"Geeeez. Your no better then that fat, bald, bastard."
"Boy watch yer mouth." Scout sighs.
"Anyway I was telling you about this girl from back home, who would always pick on me. So I asked you if you think she likes me "
"I don't know pardner, she might, and I mean woman are hard to understand. Now if ya'll are gonna help me then help. But if you're just gonna talk then go make yerself useful and go get the enemy Intel." Scout turns to leave
"I was just getting' to that hard hat," Scout turns back to engineer. "By the way---" engineer interrupted Scout.
"Scout look out behind ya!"
Just as scout looked behind him he s
Meet the Dream GirlsIt was a sleepy, uneventful morning in the BLU fort. Pyro was in the kitchen, cooking breakfast every morning as custom, humming some muffled melody to itself. Half of the crew was trickling into the dining room for Soldier's mandatory breakfast report time of 0800 sharp. He didn't mind that all of them were in their pajamas at least not for the moment. As long as they were in ship-shape half an hour later.Meet the Dream Girls4 years ago in Humor More Like This
Among the stragglers were Demoman (who was getting over a head splitting hangover), Heavy, Engineer, and Medic (who surprisingly rarely woke up earlier than he needed to). All were dressed in the standard sleep-wear black sweatpants and a loose, white tee-shirt with their team logo on the front and their symbols on the sleeves.
Soldier and Scout woke up early to take morning jogs while it was still cool out, which was that only reason Scout would ever wake up before noon. Sniper was always fully dressed aviators and all before breakfast because it apparen

Engineer was stirring something up in the pot bubbling quietly on his portable hotplate. It'd become a habit to get up early and take care of the kid. As irritating as it was, the routine was still useful to him even now.
Predictably, Scout's eyes hardened at the question. "I'm makin' sure you don't put no drugs in it."
Engineer just sighed. "Trust me, boy, you ain't got nothin' to worry about." He checked the pot, and shook his head with a sigh. "Still ain't ready yet Ah well."
Scout watched with alarm as Engineer grabbed the set of keys hanging on the opposite side of the wall, and let himself into the tiny cage. "Wh What are you doing?! Stay away from me!"
"Calm down," Engineer grunted. He held up a slender, glass thermometer. "I just wanna take your temperature, is all. Gotta make sure you're doin' alright." He sat next to the kid, and angled it towards his mouth.
"Fuck off." Scout pouted and pulled the blankets around hims
Breaking Point 6The following morning, Engineer went to check up on Scout, as always. The boy didn't even look at him as Engineer snapped on a pair of latex gloves and slid his hips on top of a bedpan. He pulled down the boy's boxers with an awkward, muttered apology, and left the cellar to give the poor kid some privacy. He retrieved it after a short while, washed it out, gave Scout a quick, modest sponge bath, and left again to retrieve Scout's breakfast.Breaking Point 64 years ago in Drama More Like This
The first few days were hard. Scout used to try to talk to him, then. He would sob and plead to be released. Try to appeal to the better side of Engineer's nature. Would cling desperately to his every visit, would hail the man as a savior, and eventually even broke down to the point where he'd tearfully admit everything Spy was doing to him, unaware that Engineer already knew for the most part.
Engineer, though, never spoke. He acted as if he didn't even listen. What else was he going to do? He couldn't save the kid. Not now, not ever. Removing him
Broken Brotherhood: TF2The Red-clad Scottish demolitions expert shoved his eyelander into the dirt for support, straining to hold up both of his hands on the hilt to support his body weight. His body lurched a bit and blood coughed out of his mouth, already dead to the world. His head lifted upwards, driven only by anger and will, and roll it's only eye towards the Blue-dressed rocketeer across the bridge. Similarly, the soldier was keeled over, the pickaxe stuck in the ground a few feet in front of him as he vomited a mixture of blood and puke on the ground beneath him, getting the disgusting concoction all over his uniform, but still, he refused to give up. His head, too, lifted up by a mixture of hate and spirit, driven to destroy the one person he thought of as a friend. Even though they were enemies, even though they tried to kill each other numerous times, even though it went against Soldier's ethical policies that traitors were the worst kind of scum in the world, he still found a friend in the blackBroken Brotherhood: TF25 years ago in Fan Fiction More Like This

Demo was laughing and laughing, so hard he could barely keep sitting on the bench. It was odd behavior for someone in a jail cell, but he'd been through worse, and besides, the two of them seemed to wind up in this kind of situation a lot, for various reasons.
Jane, after all, was hard to stop once he got going in a fight. The Soldier'd probably punched out more cops on a regular basis than was good for anyone- it was only by mercy of their contracts that they rarely spent more than a night behind bars. They were probably in for a hell of a scolding by their respective bosses later, though.
The BLU Soldier simply huffed, shrugging, and wiped his bloody knuckles on the sleeve of his jacket, leaving a dark purple stain as red met blue.
"Well, what the hell'd you expect?"
"Could've always gone someplace else."
"No way. It was the goddamn principle. I mean, what's wrong with you? I do not see a single goddamn reason that you can't dri
Last RED standing'What a warm welcome!' the Engineer thought, jumping to the side to avoid being blasted into pieces by a rocket. He had arrived at 2Fort just some moments ago and it was obvious to him that this was definitely not the best time to start a new assignment. Everyone ran around busy but somewhat disorganized, trying to protect the intelligence. 'Seems as if they don't have a tactic at all 'Last RED standing4 years ago in Drama More Like This
The shrill voice of the Announcer, echoing through the whole base, interrupted his thoughts: "Mission ends in sixty seconds!" A look at his display told him everything about the current situation: Little red and blue lights - each one representing a member of team RED or BLU faded whenever somebody died, just to light up again as soon as the man respawned. From all he could see, his team wasn't performing very well. The right side of the display was dark nearly all the time. Well, at least they hadn't lost their intel until now though they hadn't managed to capture the BLU briefcase as

He whispers it. He very seldom whispers. I don't know if anyone but me has ever heard him speak in such a quiet manner. But it's understandable. He's exhausted.
I hold him close to me. Under the bandaging, my chest hurts. I don't need stitches but I would've if the wound went much deeper. It probably wouldn't hurt, though but I don't want to. I'd have to answer questions then, and people wouldn't understand. They'd try to take him away.
It'd be easier if I could just holler for Medic. He'd fix it with no comment but rolled eyes. But Medic's home in Germany. The war's been long over.
I slide the helmet off Jane's head. He lets me do this. It's a good sign that he's truly calmed down.
He looks up at me, apologetic, worn out. His eyes he could always knock me out with those eyes. Like the brightest, bluest sky on the most perfect Fourth of July you ever imagined.
"Tav I hurt you again, didn't I? Goddamnit GodDAMNIT "

They all had, in their own way, he supposed. Secrets and shames they were running from, regretted actions they stood no chance of being able to undo.
Some of them had been less discreet about it than others. More than once, hed overheard their Engineer having a hushed, desperate conversation with his estranged wife on their unreliable telephone lines, or witnessed the Heavy angrily tearing down anti-Communist propaganda displayed prominently by their Soldier, who himself had never fully come to terms with feeling utterly rejected by the country he loved.
And some of them... some of them hadnt said anything at all, but it was what the failed to say that said the most like the way the Demoman, usually the most rambunctious member of the team, would suddenly become very quiet whenever Sniper began drunkenly complaining about his relationship with his parents.
Even the Scout, barely out of boyhood, used his antagonistic arrogance as a thin

They strode to their respective battle lines like men walking to a Death Row execution, each wondering in the backs of their minds how, after all they'd done together, they had gotten to this point.

"Christ, I don't even know how you talk me into these things... the least you could do is stop stepping on my goddamn feet."
#03 - Wishes
After Jane explained what he had meant by what he'd uttered as the shooting star had streaked across the sky, Tavish slung an arm warmly, if not a bit drunkenly, over his best friend's shoulders and said that Jane was a real soldier's far as HE was concerned.

"Ach, lad, if the only things you believe in are what ye can see with your own eyes, I feel sorry for ye."
#05 - Worry
Looking around the tiny, dark, windowless apartment, Tavish made sure that Jane knew that he could stay at his mansion anytime he wanted.

"Yes, yes. I am coming, hold on " the man grumbled, feeling his way over to the door in the dark. He swung it open, bleary-eyed and a little annoyed. Then, surprise crossed his face. " Engineer?"
The short, bald Texan grinned nervously, wringing his hat in his hands. "Yeah, it's me. Sorry did I wake ya?"
"Yes," came the passive, yet venomous response, "but it is no matter. Come in and sit down." The man's voice was now as pleasant and nonchalant as always. With a small smile, he stepped aside, and motioned the Texan inside.
Engineer's grin widened out of fear and general discomfort. "Uh Yeah. Thanks, Doc, but I don't plan on staying long."
"Nonsense, I inzist," the German pressed.
Engineer didn't know whether to take that as Medic just being overly friendly a subtle threat, but either way, he wasn't going to get anywhere by refusing. "Welp " A tiny gulp. "I I guess I could spare a few minutes "
