Girls and boys, as you probably read somewhere, the great Joe Kubert passed away this week. He was probably the last of the great cartoonists who was at the beginning of the industry, same as Kirby and Eisner. His influence can't be measured, nor the lives he made better and full of inspiration.

So, this week in The Line It is Drawn, we did a heartfelt homage to him. I went with Hawkman, Tor and Sgt. Rock, three of the characters he's most associated with. You can see the full gallery here:

Have a nice week, folks.

So, girls and boys, this is what happens when I draw cute stuff... this is a homage to the 20th anniversary of Jeff Smith's Bone, art and color by yours truly. As it turns out, it was selected as the cover of this year's ever-useful, ever-present Events Guide at the San Diego Comicon. 130 thousand of these babies were printed. That's a lot of Bones...

Girls and boys, out in the world this wednesday from Image Comics, Elephantmen 39, the conclusion of the "Killing Season" story arc. Here's the cover:

Story by Richard Starkings, art by yours truly. All 38 pages of it. This one made me suffer, but I have to say it's an issue I'm particularly proud of. Check it out if you have the chance.

Have a nice week, folks.

A bit rusty, but I'm trying to get some concepts done in these three weeks. Speed paintings or something.

Girls and boys, I spent the last week in a franctic search for a coloring style... well, I'm making it up as I go...

This is a page of the upcoming Elephantmen 30. Hip and Miki spend a night in. Oh, man. I'm quite masochistic, I totally enjoy drawing enviroments. And those little things like bottles and ice cubes. I like comics that take you to another world, like those of Ladronn (whose steps I'm following in this particular scene) or Juan Gimenez. Immersive, rich, believable stuff. That's what I'm trying to do from now on.

And yes, I'm a control freak. I love getting to control the final look. I've had excellent colorists so far, but, you know, it's not quite the same...

Oh, and here's an interview where Richard Starkings tells some secrets on the future of the series:

Hope you like it!

I haven't posted fanart before, but well, Hellboy is my favorite character, and it was fun doing something with minimal rendering for a change...

Some days I want to be a serious comic book artist, some days I don't... but I love what a brush and a couple of pens can do...
