Nevertell: III - Morning Stroll
The golden sun crept up on the city, bringing in a new day. The morning light shined through a young girl's window, illuminating her rather messy room. Andrea's eyes creakily opened with the incoming sunshine. With a moan, she rolled over in bed, reluctant to get up. As we all know, most children, and especially teenagers, greatly dislike waking up for school. Andrea was hardly an exception.
As she snuggled into her velvet blanket, her mind drifted to yesterday's events. She wished they didn't happen. Meeting those two strange siblings was something she'd rather forget. Especially the brother, she grimaced. The immature freak. She hoped him and his sister could just be another dream. Would that make it a dream within a dream? She wondered lazily, letting out a great yawn. In any case, she was going to forget them as quickly as possible. She just hoped that she never met them again.
Going with her plan of forgetting yesterday, Andrea stretc

"Oh no, Melloni, no. That is a very bad idea," Tin whimpered, biting the tips of his fingers with sweltering nervousness.
"Clock, we are stuck. We'll be diving from barrel to corner for hours till we find the kid. Our last aw man, I'm really saying this hope is you yourself and nobody to make one call. Surely you know a few people or somethin'," said Mellon almost apathetically, all his edginess expressed in his wingful points over to the tall glass phone booth settled near the central square fountain. "And dontcha wig out wheif ya get caught 'cause Z and I will give ya the sign to scram."
The clock freak's pallid complexion turned green and he trembled. "Y-you were going to say 'when', weren't you?"

Nevertell: I - Warm Welcome
"Did you hear? There are some newcomers to the city!"
"My, that hasn't happened in ages!"
"I know! I heard they came in a couple of days ago "
"Do you know who these newcomers are?"
"I'm not quite sure. I heard that there are two of them "
"Two of them? A married couple perhaps?"
The two middle-aged women continued to gossip. Nevertell City was a rather small community. Not to mention peaceful. Hardly any crimes or crisis occurred. And with peace came boredom, so the smallest of scandals shot across the city in a matter of days. Any sort of news no matter how small- would be spread to everyone by the end of the week.
There were many other gossipers where the two women were: a mansion of some politician. A party was being held and many other well-to-do figures of Nevertell City were there. It was a very luxurious place with grand chandeliers, an expensive feast, and porcelain knickknacks. All who were invited to the party were in

"Mush, Tammster, mush! I spy with my sexy wounded eyes a little something called the Opera, o' hooded one."
"Get off him, for Christ's sakes," Bella snapped quietly. "People are not only staring in fear."
Chimabell gave his brother a sour look followed by a childish whine, "My god, you are one jealous turkey! Surprised your eyes aren't glowing green already. Because, brother beloved, you do know that I could fetch you a Tammy of your own. All you have to do is ask your lord and master right here. Really, it's alright to speak up every once in a blue moon than get pissed about something you regret not saying."
The mayor spoke of Tammy like he was an item; like sucking the souls out of people and turning them into mindless slaves was but a factory hobby. It did not help that he was riding

Chapter 53 Vultures and Humans and Exploding Moonlight
His bleeding heart was aching as he licked his serrated teeth with his tongue, thirsty for some good and new vengeance. The blistering red eyes protruded from his shadowy being, giving him the appearance of a brutal monster than an ordinary freak. He stood up high above a sea of black, grinning into the redness of the opaque atmosphere above and giggling as well to show off something quite horrid. Laughing out loud now, something drippy and wet left his hands, building up even more like rivulets that begged to become waterfalls. The words 'A freak like you can't save anything!' were echoing like flying springs; those recognizable words haunted him. He just laughed more and more and more then he swung his hand towards his prey, his wretched smile staining the vermillion world with such evil. The hand struck and then- Zero woke up with a dire plea for mercy, forcing

Chimabell! For gods sake, answer me you little brat! screamed Campara, a foul-mouthed thirty-year-old woman with a long black dress and a vulture-like walk.
She forced open the metal door before her with a kick and glared down below at the gear-infested factory in the underground chamber. Sparks of ember glided across the smoky channel and she could see the many prisoners in white masks and chains pounding down on iron objects going down the industrial line.
Campara frustratingly flew down into the smoky, fiery unit and began scanning the entire occupied area until she finally found her little brother Chimabell sitting at a high level watching boxes get thrown into the furnace. He laughed cutely each time a box went in and got burned. Then his small attention was finally caught.
Ello, sister! Ooh. Are you mad at me?

Chapter 39 A human and a vampire in a cemetary of longing
Andante was so terribly lonely, playing his organ keys with such melancholy seclusion and allowing his frowning pipes to cry their brooding rhythm. In the darkness he played his music, facing the series of tall glass windows on the other side of the grand orchestra room and awaiting his master to break in. He waited and waited. He waited for a terribly long time. Ever since the human arrived, he has not been able to spend time with Count Merry-Go-Round but for only a few hours. Before, he never left his home; they would do nothing but speak to one another. The vampire would play on his piano keys and cry for his loved one. Her. She, that person whose loss broke his heart. She, whose existence once made Andante want to rip her apart.
The organ head began to grow smoky red pupils and small sharp teeth, grimacing as a growl began to rise. Then he slammed every key o

"You know what?! I'm going home! Straight home!"
"Have fun!" the weird boy replied without a tinge of annoyance.
Sophia hesitated and called up to him, "And I don't know the way!"
"I might get eaten by lions and tigers and bears!"
Already twenty minutes into the chilling journey and Sophia was on the verge of tears. It was dark, late, freezing, and frightening in the woods. God, she wanted to go home BAD; especially with the fog coming in. But what did Darkslaw do? NOTHING. He just hummed as he slinked off ahead of her, flashlight in hand. She could tell he was smiling from behind which ticked her off completely. She tripped over the fiftieth tree root and thought thrice over the suggestion of just turning around and heading back to the mansion in hopes that her grandparents aren't awake and freaking out. But no. One look back and she sees not

Chapter 49 Unfinished Waltz, a Nightmare, and the One Who Tried
Zero was standing outside in the soft shower of snow, looking over the acres of frozen ice now dulling into a grand mass of fog; it was all thanks to the raging storm just outside the barrier of their sanctuary. His face was downcast as he stood up high on the hilltop, sad thoughts plaguing him while he looked on over the darkness of the night and the fog of the tremendous lake. The thoughts were merciless and cruel, but so full of longing and a want for the danger to be over with finally; a want to go back home and live in the peace that he has been lacking for a while. But no. That one word, "no", was the answer to every beg Zero had. Where are we? he asked himself, his thoughts circulating. Where can we go? Where? I am so lost. He brought his head up, feeling a twister of disturbance and sadness spiral deep down in his heart; it made him feel rather sick, like he wanted

There were bright gems illuminating the dark, frosty chamber in specks of rose pink and forget-me-not violet, all collected together to encircle the lonely little cavern where the dispirited Mellon sat, gloomily licking his wounded hand with his long, dog-like tongue. Half of his body was covered by gem-light, showing off his doggish ears and eye and paw while the other half remained shrouded in a slab of darkness, silent and drooping in both fault and injury. You promised, she pleaded. You promised, she cried. He hated how much discomfort he felt with such words jammed into his mind. He never felt that way before. It hurt; badly.
"And you're just gonna mope around like this all night," Sasha mumbled loudly and sarcastically, hands on her hips as she slinked into the mine. Her ex-boyfriend made a fierce stare at the ground.

An hour has passed since their previous rest stop and then the posses piano vehicle finally came to a stop. This doesnt look like an Eccentric Avenue tme, dude, Mellon commented, staring ahead at the grandly grimy swamp ahead of them. Actually, Im not even too sure we should even BE here.
Darkchovi hopped off the vehicle and told everyone to get off of it and steer clear, allowing Butler to once again switch some gizmos around in the back of the strange rickshaw. It was an amazing sight, what everyone just saw. A tremendous balloon spewed out from the center of the car and inflated automatically, not changing the spacious seating within the vehicle but certainly makin

It was dastardly dark down in the abandoned subway station. The Dolls, soaking wet due to the storm up on the surface, scanned with their candle-lit rifles down the cold, must station. There was but a silent platform and the abandoned train itself, webby, rusty, and untouched. "Impossible," one of the officers muttered. One minute they are chasing their victims down a stormy lane, and the next they disappear into the underground subway. Their lord was not going to be pleased knowing that, but that didn't stop the Dolls from leaving.
"Are they gone?" Sophia's voice whispered shiveringly in the darkness of a rickety train cabin. Count Merry shushed her and gloomily walked over to the sliding doors of the cabin, poking his head out and carefully seeing down the long, abandoned hall. He let out a loud sigh and turned back around, gesturing Sophia and Zero to come off the dusty floo

Campara was adjusting her eye shades (that a certain someone with a metal tongue gave her) in the plaza of the carnival when she heard a familiar, anxious voice call out a few feet behind her. She made a deep sigh of both annoyance and wonder when she turned around to see Tin squeeze and slip through masses of freaks, great anxiety plastered all over his face. He slid on the cobblestone ground to where the mistress stood and he put his hand on her shoulder to support himself while he panted harshly out of exhaustion. "W-w-wait for me, will you please!?" She put on an irritated frown and crossed her arms when he crouched down to put his hands on his knees, still breathing strongly. For about forty minutes he has been chasing and falling behind her as she went off to check new things like an excited tourist. "G-goodness gracious, don't be so quick to lose me!"

Chapter 50 Kind Lights and Annoying Saviors
Sophia coughed fragilely into her hands with a powerful urge telling her to lie down, but she just kept on with her trek through the dark, root-infested forest. She tripped over fallen branches and her heart hammered during her run away; the world was freezing cold and the only source of lighting were but the moon gems stuck within the curly, thick trees dull, lifeless, barely helping the poor sick one out during such a dilemma. She felt something in her head pounding with her hand remained clutched around her dead flashlight, her memories of that nightmare haunting her in the frightening darkness. Tears fell down her face whilst she hopped over roots and tripped through black bushes of frost and leaves, fear overpowering her senses with bitterness. The woods were silent, their tree canopies so high and so covered that not a speck of snow from the storm above managed to

It was snowing gently now in the woods and the sprinkling sky rolled with small thunder, making everything that has happened twenty minutes ago seem like a distant memory. Everything was calm now and the vehicle Mellon drove made no sound as it slowly and carefully made its way through the snow. Everyone in the spacey back were laughing and frittering and chatting away. Sophia most of all.
"Like, at first I thought I was going to die but then Tin's awesome tongue went PSHOO and then it became, like, a tug-of-war thingy!" she blabbed on and on with excitement to the group of freaks as Mellon continued to drive up front. "And then I took out my flashlight and then the weirdo was like 'Ahhhh' and I was like 'YES!' and then we had to jump off the roof and I was like 'Nuh-uh!' but we did! It was soooo neat! Tremendously loud thunder shook the two-story restaurant yet Mellons laughing could still be heard from outside. Not only his, but Darkchovis as well. Sophia and Zero were sitting down at the bar table and Count Merry stood up in between them, looking at Darkchovi with a deadpan expression, mostly on the side of irritation.
Dude, come on, the bartender said, serving Zero and Sophia mugs of hot chocolate followed by Butler shyly serving up some whipped cream and a straw for the ax-handed freak. Youre telling me that Dolls chased you into the underground railroad and you came in contact with a ghost train? Dont make me laugh, pixies. Im too old for scary stories.

Chapter 48 The Blamed and the Forgiven
A wretched weakness corrupted Merry's flight for a reason he was unable to explain, so he gently floated through the rain and landed atop the icy, black stairwell that led high up to his towering castle. He never took the steps before because flying always made it so much faster and so much easier to get home rather than walk up over two-hundred treads. But there was something in his chest that got him to pause, landing softly upon a stair and allowing the rain to drench him from head to toe. Thunder rumbled as he rasped to himself "It is done." The vengeful vampire made a limp smile but then looked down at his white, wet hands as if he has personally shredded his victim limb from limb. There was the feeling of worms in his chest that he could not recognize. "It is good," he whispered, intensely in denial of the certain feeling he was gaining. "It is done and she is no longer there." Then he forced himself up t

Chapter 54 Villainy in the Theater District
"My child, welcome to the Theater District."
Sophia could only stare with wide, dazzling eyes at the beauty that stood before her, shimmering in snow and clean blue lights. With the carriage ceiling down and mechanical umbrellas high above their heads to shield them from the rain, the girl and the Meowsician looked from their self-driven vehicle at the magnificence that was called the Theater District, miles away from Kallavient Carnival and even farther from the Emptylands, now settling back in another part of Downtown Decembersville. As the carriage rolled forward, meeting itself with the icy tiled floors of the outside lanes, Sophia gazed at the differences in architectural design from the Neighborhood and other parts of the freakish city. All around her were tall and eccentrically-shaped buildings, yes, but even taller staircases and balloon lanterns as well. The residents chatt

Another rainstorm massacred the enchanted city but that did not stop its residents from crowding one on top of another in a Neighborhood district; a certain district where a grand row of townhouses got burned to a crisp along with the people inside. There were fits of rage and many of the citizens were bawling knowing that some of their friends and beloveds have become victim of Sophia Lilbette from Washington recent act of arson. The Dolls blocked away they freaks with their weapons, pushing them back and even attacking to make sure they don't manage to squeeze past them to try and save their neighbors; some were hopeful that they were still alive, you know.
High above the wails and madness of the crowds, Cheshira crouched over the railing of an overlooking tower and could see the burned up houses through the darkness of the rain. Even through the pitter-patter of water she could still see

Chapter 24 - Fear
"Agh! O-okay! Easy! Cool it! COOL IT, YOU-A CRACKER-BOX!!" the Emcee choked as Count Merry strangled him, though without the intention of hurting the freak but so much as forcing out information. Merry cruelly glared at his victim and his hands eased up, allowing the Emcee to speak coherently. "For-a the last time: I. Do. Not. Know. Sophia. What IS a Sophia anyways!? Nothing the Emcee knows about! Uh-uh!! So-a hands off the merchandise, Dracula! I do not-a know what-a little Sophia-thinga you-a blabbing on about!"
The adult vampire growled and pushed the Emcee against the entrance doorway of the casino, violently holding him up by the throat; his eyes were glowing and his fangs were glistening. Never had Sophia been inside such a beautiful, complex building. Seriously, she was completely amazed by the grand abandoned theater filled with contraptions and simplified elevators and candle-lanterns hanging by chains from the towering glass ceiling, black with paint probably to seal off sighting from above. Sure, the tremendous theater was dark and almost broken down and obviously ancient, but it was still so enchanting to look at. It was as if being inside of a Swiss Family Robinson tree-house plus the booths and the stairs and the corridors and the many decorations taking over the place. Simply awesome the Chiaroscuro Theater was. Yet, for an abandoned building, there were a good many residents walking around and eyeing the group entering their sanctuary. They all held candles and looked just as freaky as the other citizens were out in the main city.

Chapter 52 Underground Mutiny in an Arcane Cavern
There was a collection of muffled noises that escalated slowly into voices; then the voices became words and the clamor became clear to the deep deafness she was floating through. It was pitch black darkness she was trapped in her eyelids playing heavy boulders, her throat sticky with no use, her nerves frozen cold like floating empty shells bumping gently into each other. Never mind how limp she was, there was still the presence of an item or two beneath her body that felt like no mattress but more like a series of luxury pillows their exteriors hard with knitting but interiors soft with cotton. Her eyelids lifted automatically, showing her a world of blurriness that turned into an obscure, cave-ish, badly-lit universe of wet stone and silhouetted feet against the tiny torches of candles encircling the immense fissure, running in all directions near and far.

Sophia was surrounded by darkness and she shivered coldly in her small prison, knees to her chest as she cried slowly in anguish. She repeated the name "Zero" over and over, heart burning with such sorrow and frustration and pain. Not only was she distraught with the witness of her best friend's death and the guilt of her last words to him, but knowing that Mellon would do such a grim and horrendous thing to both of them was squeezing her like a constrictor's coils. "Zero, I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry, Zero, I'm so sorry " she sobbed quietly through fiery tears that fell down her pale face. There was regret and grief recycling through her soul for her dear Zero and a burning hatred for Melloni.
She was all alone in the darkness of the night and the coldness of the snow, trapped in a small, covered cage on the back of a carriage heading to God-knows-where; maybe to a death of her own. Yet all she could do was cry.
