About (kinda) stolen names and identitiesAlright, since i got about two notes of people asking me about this matter by now, i feel that this is something that should be briefly addressed.About (kinda) stolen names and identities1 year ago in Personal More Like This
To make it perfectly clear:
NO, i am NOT Culpeo Wolf, the person who was seen on Dr. Phil lately. I don't like wolves, i'm not a furry, i am not American.
But I am:
Culpeo Fox. The one who pretty much brought the word „Culpeo“ to the world wide web (aside from Wikipedia, that is) since most people had no idea this was an actual fox species back then, prompting dozens to actually ask me whether this word/name was made up by myself.
All these others: Culpeo Wolf, Culpeo Rat, TheDarkCulpeo, CulpeoFox1, CulpeoFoxElizabeth and whatever else their names are came after me. I would lie if said that it doesn't irk me in a way. No, i didn't patent the word „Culpeo“, for it is an actual species of fox, as mentioned above and people will choose their names how they feel. And yet...whenever i see another „Culpe

Many of us — especially writers — find ourselves buried beneath a growing pile of books we’ve been meaning to read but haven’t been able to find the time. More depressing is the even longer list of book titles we know we need to read. The pile gets higher, the list gets longer every day. There’s always another seminal classic we haven’t gotten around to. It

PE Dark Photomanip: Interview with `MarcelaBolivarPlease welcome MarcelaBolivar!PE Dark Photomanip: Interview with `MarcelaBolivar1 year ago in Art Features More Like This
For the past decade, Marcela Bolivar has been sharing her dreams and nightmares with us here on deviantArt through photomanipulation-based art. She hails from Colombia and has a very unique flair to her work. Her visions are unique to her.
Marcela recently granted me an interview, and I must say that it's been fun to get a peek inside her mind and her creative process!!
So, this is “dark photomanipulation week.” The phrase “dark photomanipulation” is often used interchangeably with horror/macabre photomanipulation, yet the two styles are very distinct. How would you classify your own work, and why?
My work has changed through these years but I like to think it has the same dreamy, feverish essence. It definitely tends towards dark themes but from an irrational or metaphorical view, making it seem to belong better with what you'd ca
Manip AcademyIntroducing a new project!Manip Academy1 year ago in Art Features More Like This
Manip Academy (thanks, cristii, for inspiration for the name) is a new photomanipulation project inspired by projecteducate. We all love to learn, and we learn best from one another. Here's our chance to share what we know.
Manip Academy is an education initiative designed to spread the knowledge and the love. It is a collaboration between CRPhotomanipulation and we-HEART-photomanip. We will share tips and tricks for photomanipulation success. It is difficult to write tutorials, but anyone can write a simple tip or describe how they achieved a specific effect.
This project will feature two weekly articles written by the community every week, on Mondays and Thursdays. This will be an ongoing project within our community, and we hope that many people will take advantage of the chance to sign up to submit one blog or even just a few sentences to help the community.

Why Copyright Law is a Matter of PerceptionWhy Copyright Law is a Matter of PerceptionWhy Copyright Law is a Matter of Perception3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Most people will argue that copyright is a law to protect artists and has nothing to do with perception, but this is just half the truth. This post will shed some light about common misconceptions*.
First off, this topic came up in a conversation about copyright, artwork licensing and a debate on how to solve issues with a client. Actually the essence of my thoughts are packed into the following post.
To begin with, I´d like to state that I´m an artist and have a sincere interest to protect my work as much as anyone else, but I don´t trust copyright or Creative Commons for that matter, the lines are too blurry and the jurisdiction is often very incomprehensible.
There is a German law that states:"The freedom of any person is untouchable", I´m sure every federation, regardless if Europe or r
Syn's Dithering TutorialWhat is dithering?Syn's Dithering Tutorial2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Dithering is a pixel art process used to blend blocks of colour together or help apply a texture to a pixelled surface. Within emoticons it is most commonly used when making pixelled backgrounds, however it can be used in a number of other areas, e.g. massive emote bases, pixel objects etc. In this tutorial, we will focus on how 2 colours can be blended with dithering.
To break dithering down into simple terms, it is achieved by simply taking the colours from the two blocks of colour and placing individual pixels of each on the opposite side. This creates a region where the two colours merge together to create a more blended colour transition instead of a clear line between the two.
Dithering can seem like a complex process, but it's really not. Once you get the basic idea and technique, it's just all about practice and over time you'll learn how to apply it to a number of different situations. There are many dithering styles which can be

"The painful thing is that when we buy into disapproval, we are practicing disapproval. When we buy into harshness, we are practicing harshness. The more we do it, the stronger these qualities become. How sad it is that we become so expert at causing harm to ourselves and others. The trick then is to practice gentleness and letting go. We can learn to meet whatever arises with curiosity and not make it such a big deal. Instead of struggling against the force of confusion, we could meet it and relax. When we do that, we gradually discover that clarity is always there." (Pg. 27)
"When we talk about hopelessness and death, we're talking about facing the facts. No escapism. We may still have addictions of all kinds, but we cease to believe in them as a gateway to happiness. So many

Brad Wright, longtime deviant in the dA community, steps into the shoes (space boots) of Giger and Moebius as a concept designer for the Alien Isolation videogame. The game reportedly marks a return to the terror of the original “Alien” film in which scaring the audience to death was the goal, rather than the uncorking escalating levels of defensive firepower that defined the sequels.

Mesoamerican SourcesIt has come to my attention that some of you would like to know what sources I use for my fashion pieces. Well aside from the fashion pieces, some of my art and my comic especially require me to do a ton of research. Since my research is pretty well organized now, I'll use that as a template to organize this list of sources. Keep in mind that the subsections for each culture overlap each other though. For example books on sexuality are just as much books about history, politics and warfare. Most of these I own in my own personal library (only 5 or so were borrowed from the library), but a few can be found online too. These will be divided by culture and specialized information. My sources continue to expand as I continue to research and learn new things. So I will be updating this as I go along. My books are either in spanish or english. Some I could only find in one of the languages. Thankfully I am fluent in both. Sources in bold are my personal faves. We would like to as much as possible shut out thoughts of our mortality, even though it is the one thing all human beings have common — the price of being alive is to know we will one day die. Skeletons are always there to remind us of this one grim universally equalizing reality, an iron

I have recently come across a most disturbing phenomenon in my studies of the Diabolic Infestation of the Soul. It seems there is a most frightening psychological conundrum when considering the concept of demonic possession even the most remote possibility of reality upon our earthly plane is the notion that just believing it may be true could very likely be the spark needed for the Demon to discover, seek out, and ultimately inhabit its next vessel of evil: You.
From the Exorcist through Paranormal Activity, generation after generation of “believers” seem to have come to the reali
