Creating a Comic: Where on Earth do I Start? You like stories. You wanna tell them.Creating a Comic: Where on Earth do I Start?4 years ago in Art Features More Like This
But it's more than that, isn't it?
You want to build them.
You want others to experience them.
We tell stories everyday in conversation, but how do we transform those into sequential art?
"Where on Earth Do I Start?"
Words, Words, and More Words!
In many ways, comics, that is, sequential art, resembles the art of film making. Every comic has it's own art design and "directing" style, right down to how the characters think and act. The art of comics has been closely linked to realms such as storyboarding and graphic design. Though the common lingo includes the term "novel" (as in graphic novel), the typical novelistic fashion of writing must be adapted for comics much in the same way it is reshaped for a screenplay. Comics don't only involve the thoughts and feelings of your character(s), but they also include specific actions to showcase these emotio

This is a informative article, outside of the normal DLD activities, to bring awareness to a pair of bills currently under much discussion and debate. These bills are called called SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) and PIP (Protect IP), presented to the House of Representatives and the senate (respectively) in the United States. Later in this article, we will also discuss how these bills have a world wide significance. At the end of the article are several links to the actual bill, news articles, and forum/journals related to this topic. Our aim here is to give to a brief overview, and to answer some questions concerning this debate.
SOPA itself is an attempt to stop online piracy both domestic and foreign by the United States Gov't. It employs a variety of tactics in order to achieve this, including scannin
RIP Leslie NeilsonHello everyone. Well, I been busy playing video games like all for the most part. However, I had heard one of the actors that some of you would probably know had passed away in November 28 (which was yesterday). And his name is Leslie Neilson. He been in movies like two Naked Gun movies, Surf Ninjas, and even Dracula: Dead and Loving It (which is my favorite movie lol). Plus he was so funny in those movies . Now apparently, he died in his sleep from pneumonia at a hospital somewhere at Fort Lauderdale, Florida. And he's only like 84 years old when he died. As for me, I was kinda at shock after I'd heard what happened to him. It kinda sucks though.RIP Leslie Neilson4 years ago in Personal More Like This
Well here's what I had to say, RIP Leslie Neilson. You were so funny as a comedic actor of all time.

EDIT: I ADDED NUMBER 3 IN CAUSE THAT WAS KIND OF AN IMPORTANT LESSON TOO. HAHA
Usually I am pretty quiet when it comes to the community and its dealings with drama . But I feel like I have to write my two cents about this topic.
A lot of people have been throwing around this post around about how art schools are terrible and are not worth it ya. I am sure you can find the article somewhere if you just google it . Though everyone is entitled to their own opinion I feel that I should talk about both sides of the coin when it comes to art school.
Now I have went to art school , and have done well for myself , I have worked internationally and worked for some big companies , and currently at the moment I actually teach at an art school as well.
SO THE ULTIMATE QUESTION: IS ART SCHOOL A WASTE OF TIME?
WELL THERE IS NO BLACK AND WHITE ANSWER
What I believe is that art school i
Eye For Detail Issue #2Hello again and welcome to issue #2 of Eye for Detail where I will be viewing reviewing and criticizing work. I hope you like what I've picked out for you all this time, I think all pieces here are great to look at and you should definitely take your time to check out some of the artists on here.Eye For Detail Issue #23 years ago in Art Features More Like This
It can be tough to choose a favourite of anything when there's so much to choose from that you like. This is no different. It was difficult to choose my favourite piece this issue, but I did decide.
I love this piece that Mac25 has created. It took 2 months and not a single second was wasted here. It's just brilliant. I've seen a lot of hair in my days as a deviant in just 7 months and there are so many that don't look realistic enough. This piece is not the case, the hair looks so realistic, it flows and each single hair is drawn. There's more too. The facial structure looks realistic, the lighting and shadows compliment the piece

Living Rainbow Taking Flight
The vibrant digital paintings of alicexz are fiery, emotional, and incredibly memorable.
The colors of her creations (mostly portraits of popular TV and Film characters) are unusually vibrant, which is remarkable considering how layered they appear to be. It’s sort of like what manga characters might look like if painted by one of the Dutch Masters. And this artist exhibits just the right amount of quirkiness to leave us wanting to know more: she has a penchant for painting redheads. But, then of course, there’s a lot of red and golden fire burning through most her artworks.
Leslie Neilson (1926-2010)Today is a sad day because as of November 28th, 2010. Actor Leslie Neilson has died at the age of 84. Some of you might remember Leslie in such films like the Airplane movies or even in the Scary Movie series among other things. As a Canadian, it's sad to lose a national symbol. As a lover of cinema, it is even worse as Neilson himself was a very great actor. Perhaps the films he was in weren't as great, but he was always the center of attention.Leslie Neilson (1926-2010)4 years ago in Personal More Like This
So I say, it's been a good run. Leslie. You've put a smile on my face many times and I am sad to see you go. At least you can brag that you lived a full life and hadn't dropped at the age of 50 like Bernie Mac or Micheal Jackson.
Off you go, Neilson. Up to that big airplane in the sky...
