Through The Lens #13 ~ Mastering CompositionArguably the most important challenge that faces every artist is that of mastering composition. Artists spend their entire life experimenting with different compositional tools in order to achieve desired effects. Throughout the academic history of art various books and theories have been written about principles and elements of design. The following list is not comprehensive and may vary from other lists that are out there, but I attempted to compile the most useful list of compositional ideas that I could with photographic examples of each of the ideas. Sometimes as artist we can spend so much time on technique and subject matter, that the basic composition of the piece we are trying to create gets overlooked. These powerful compositional tools not only help us to create more cohesive and complex art but they also help us to speak about art. Using the universal language of design, we can communicate with other artist in a seamless and direct way. My deviantART StoryConsidering that I have little time here, let's begin this little story. My deviantART Story11 months ago in Art Features More Like This
Well, it's no secret that I joined DeviantART to show many of my papercraft work and share experiences and models with other papercrafters.
Before joining deviantART, and before doing papercraft, I did some drawing, and a little clay sculpture, but never managed to improve a lot in these two arts. It was until I found papercraft models, I began to explore this art and I was completely in love.
The first models I assembly were a lot of work for me, was it a mental challenge to complete, It took me about 6 days to finish my first model. Still I didn't give up.
I began to see how I could improve the finish of the figures and fulfill the dream that I always had: Having a large collection of amazing collectible figures!
Shower pee Video embed codeHoi peeps!Shower pee Video embed code3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Firstly, it would appear the larger percentage of folk who answered my recent poll enjoy peeing in the shower.. Hope you clean your plugholes with bleach
I have been inundated with notes requesting the code for embedding video in your journals.
The dA code for embedding youtube videos is as follows -
< da:embed profile="" id="" / > (without the spaces)
Between the first "" you type the video source e.g. "youtube"
Between the second "" you will type the video id e.g. "d1rWvGSmOuo"
On all youtube videos there is an option to share, the id code is the last series of letters of the videos address. eg "http:/youtu.be/BtlUxU2elr8"
In the end your code should look like this < da:embed profile="youtube" id=" d1rWvGSmOuo " /> (without the spaces of course)

I'm really glad the DA has finally find time to open up a debate about it, considering we're the biggest art community online it's a very efficient way to get the word across! I was told that Sopa was brought up in october 2011 and obviously gradually went into a downward spiral from there...I actually recalled something that was kind of strange, back in 2009 or 2010, I remember watching a youtube video talking about 2012 disaster. The people in it stated that they found prove that lead them to believe that 2012 would not be a natural disaster apocalypse but would be an online crises that would end the "-internet-world" as we know it. The video stated that apparently major internet providers are planning to "sell" internet like cable

He was an artist you might not know.
But you’ve met his children…
It’s rare that a “new” iconic monster is born and becomes forever identifiable,—— no matter the variations, by generation after generation. So it was when George Romero created the ultimate “zombie” in his Night of the Living Dead in 1968. Zombie Apocalypse fans today may have never heard of George or seen the original “Night,” but the zombies they so love in fare like The Walking Dead owe their existence to Romero’s original vision.

You want to make plushies? Tips and resources listEdit: added a part about fabric selection before 'where do I start'!You want to make plushies? Tips and resources list2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Ever since I posted Wolf Link and Midna I've been getting an influx of messages asking me to teach, reveal my secrets, take people under my wing, and so on. The sad thing is I can't spend all that much time one on one with everybody asking me to teach them. So I've decided to put together this massive block of text, relating some of my personal experience in plush making and listing off all my resources at the bottom. This will cover the very basics of plush and pattern making so if you are completely new to plush making this is for you, if you're not and you're just looking for resources skip to the bottom. I hope this will be helpful to someone!
First off, the reality. The big secret. The key to becoming a good plush artist is...
I can already feel the glares and exasperation but hear me out first.
One thing I've noticed with a lot of the messages I got were that a lot of people were scared of screwing up.

The United States Congress is proposing two laws that address the problem of wide-scale unlicensed distribution on the Internet of motion pictures, songs, trademarked goods, and patented pharmaceuticals.
One of the proposals is called SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) and would direct search engines in the United States to block Internet sites outside the United States that are primarily engaged in distributing unlicensed content.Another proposal called PIPA (Protect IP Act) would block websites located in the United States as well. The Obama administration is putting a stop to these proposals. It wants the Internet companies and the content companies to get together and come up with more functional and less destructive solutions.

Each year he makes his migration south from the Aleutian Islands to a breeding area in the Pacific Ocean parallel to Central California, looking for a mate. Unlike other blue and fin whales, his more than 6000 miles a year round-trip swim is a solitary one. He does not travel along with the blues or the fins, because he is neither. He is most probably either a hybrid blue

Hints and Tips for GREAT Papercraft (again)I often get asked "How did I make ________ (insert Paperpoké model)?". I would have to say that it is pretty much practice and patience. I've been papercrafting for about 5 years, now - more so in the last 12 months than at any other point in time. And I really believe that you learn from making mistakes.Hints and Tips for GREAT Papercraft (again)6 years ago in Personal More Like This
I often rebuild models 2-3 times, just so the are just right for publishing on our website. It's relatively easy to make a template from a model, but it's not so easy to make a good template that others can follow with ease, and that doesn't waste too much paper.
But making a good model is not simply about the work that papercrafter designers do, you also need the correct tools to create a good papercraft. This is a fact that is often overlooked, but is actually crucial. You really only need a few things to get great results:
1. Use decent paper - (NOT regular 80gsm printer paper) find some that is about 120gsm in
