Contest for Inkscape Website Re-designNOTE: Rules have changed and only a mockup is now required, and the contest dealine has been extended to October 31, 2005.
Hey there fellow Inkscapers!
Many of us have seen Inkscape evolve from back in the days of Sodi Podi into the powerful program that we currently know it as. Unfortunately the website has not quite followed along at the same pace. Which brings us to the next official inkscapers contest, a makeover for the website!
The developers decided that we need to make the contest a little more open and give people more time. We're now only requiring mockups for the website, done in Inkscape, no actual "code".
The goal is to show off what inkscape can do when put to use in the area of Web Design.
Upload a mockup image of your submission to your gallery or scraps on DeviantART and post a link below.
Any images that you create for it need to be done 100% in Inkscape. We will require any original SVG files to use in case somet
Inkscape 0.91 About Screen Contest!UPDATE: Please make sure your SVG is posted online as well by the deadline. If you put in the time and effort to enter the contest it would be a sad thing to have your entry get disqualified over. There are entries which currently do not have the SVG posted.Inkscape 0.91 About Screen Contest!6 months ago in Personal More Like This
It's about that time again as we near the release of 0.91! The Inkscape team and community is winding down development and preparing to release Inkscape 0.91. Given that we will be releasing a new version of Inkscape, we need to have a new About Screen done.
Our goal is to show off what the new version of Inkscape can do in an artistic manner.
We don't have a particular theme, but since our goal was for refactoring code and internals maybe that could inspire.
You should use a current nightly build or a pre-release build.
The contest will run from September 1, 2014 - October 1, 2014.
The canvas dimensions must be 750x625 px / 600x500 p

Mypaint 1.1 : A guide through the new featuresAt the very end of 2012, the code of the famous free and open-source digital-painting program Mypaint 1.1 was released. If you still using Mypaint 1.0 , you might be interested to see what happened into this one year of change. For reading an excellent review about it , please read the very cool and full article wrote by Alexandre Prokoudine on Libre Graphic World , he also made a cool video.Mypaint 1.1 : A guide through the new features2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Here I will focus on writing a review for Mypaint 1.0 user, to let them know what changed and how they will benefit from it.
On Canvas Notifications
Now Mypaint is a bit more talkative when you press '+' or '-' on the keyboard to zoom with the 'Control+Space' shortcut. It was difficult back to Mypaint 1.0 days to have an idea of the actual zoom level. For the future development , this box system was made to be reusable ; so Mypaint might have better and better visual feedbacks on the next versions. The notifications are activated by defaults , and concern for the moment only

[Giveaway details at the bottom]
So, I have been seeing a lot of these guides, but let's be honest. They are either incredibly, incredibly long-term or simply don't work at all. All of these have points like "comment on things, be yourself, share your awesome", but let's be honest. That doesn't work.
No, I am here to show you how to break the lotus-eater machine behind short-term dA fame. I'll teach you to exploit the systems so dA will have a reason to fix them.
Yeah, I am writing this completely out of my own selfish desire to get dA's popularity system either broken and bended over a snooker table or fixed. So use these exploits while they still work. And I will be using these as means to spread the message. Because the algorithms dA use are borked and easily exploitable.
100-points giveaway "contests".
This one is the easiest one to pull of, and has a relatively low cost-per-watch ratio. 100 point

1. Post-work is not a dirty word
A lot of people have this idea in their heads that editing an image in Photoshop after you render it, or combining different things you've rendered separately together is somehow deceitful and wrong, but it's not.
Post-work just makes your 3D even better! It's a lot faster to fix a small lighting bug in Photoshop than edit it painstakingly in your 3D program, and often the results are just as good!
2. Pre-made models are not cheating (and cheating is OK)
There seems to be this rift between people that create their own models, and people that use premade stock, such as Daz, Poser, etc, and this idea th

Spider Medicine represents creativity. It's 8 legs represent the 4 winds of change and the 4 directions on the medicine wheel. It's body is the shape of an 8, which represents infinite possibilities.
Spider reminds us to look beyond the web of illusion of the physical world and beyond the horizon to the other dimensions.
