Helpful Tip of the Day 03Noticing mistakes:Helpful Tip of the Day 031 year ago in Personal More Like This
>> Zoom in and out.
When you paint detail in one section too long, you loose sight of the entire drawing.
Zoom out and walk away from your desk, take a look at the drawing from afar or walk away and come back.
This way your brain will notice mistakes.
>> Flip the image.
When flipping the image, this allows your mind to view the drawing differently, any mistakes will stand out like a sore thumb.
The eyes might not be level etc.
Its a great trick,
If you are drawing traditionally, hold the paper up to a window and stare at the blank side.
>> Blocking down form zoomed out.
This is a more advanced thing to do that took me several years to get used to. I paint zoomed out to shape the form and colour placement, ( which I also fix halfway through with curves)
Then once you are happy with the form, zoom in and add details, even then I only zoom in about 30-40%
Its all about preferences/ eye sight and size of canvas.

Helpful Tip of the Day 02Don't draw with the intent of "uploading"Helpful Tip of the Day 021 year ago in Personal More Like This
This will make you rush, I used to draw everything and upload them on the day in hopes to be seen or to get popular but it honestly does not work. It will only make you rush and not think things through.
Draw for yourself as well as the viewers. If you feel there is something wrong with the drawing don't post it, It will only get you down. (Unless its is paid work, then fill your portfolio!)
When you draw personal work, make it your own, it will be a mystery to the viewer, "why did ______ draw this, what went through their head? etc
Like my Elven nature or Ice Queen which seem to be the most successful in my gallery, is ones I drew for fun. I also took tip one into consideration drawing those.
(For the month of Ramadan I will post random tips that I struggle with to show you are not alone)

FAQ What does "yuumei" mean?FAQ6 years ago in Personal More Like This
Yuumei (幽冥 or 幽明) means light and darkness, strange and deep, hades, and semidarkness. Not to be confused with yuumei (有名) which means famous... (In my defense, I picked this name when I was 12 and didn't realize it also meant famous...)
What projects are you working on right now?
A complete list of all past, present, and future projects can be found here http://yuumei.deviantart.com/journal/Current-and-Future-Projects-286619795
Why didn't you reply to my comment/note?
I'm terribly sorry but due to the enormous amount of notes and comments I receive, it's simply impossible to read and reply to most of them. I tried to reply to all the notes but it eventually just got to be too much and took time away from drawing. If you have very important news to tell me (such as reports of art theft, requests to help none-profit organization, or business offers, etc) please e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org

A Pocket Artist's Guide on How To Draw A common struggle an artist stumbles upon on his way to a triumphant drawing style is when he is just beginning to draw. That is something I, a 14-year old writer learned after a year of practicing illustration, a field that is quite new for someone who uses a pen to write prose, poems, and stories, and not to draw.A Pocket Artist's Guide on How To Draw2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Probably like some of you here, I started drawing after seeing characters on the television and tried to imitate them. At first, I found any drawing I made so wonderful, brilliant, great, etcetera, etcetera… [Oh well..] until a passerby badmouthed my works. At first it was hard to believe that my highly treasured works were actually that bad.
But when I looked again on my drawings, I realized that there is a lot more I can do to make things better than they were. Yet my interpretation of getting better was quite different. I bought lots of books on anatomy, perspectiv

How long have you been drawing/ When and why you begin to draw?
Im drawing since I was little (since kindergarten time I think) because it brings me a lot of fun, and become my passion.
I drew a lot of animals and disney (but mostly animals like Lion King, or Dalmatians). I drew a tones of it and I flooded my teachers desks with gift pictures. I started to draw m&a when I was 13-14 when Ive get my first computer and felt in love in sonic the hedgehog games series. I drew hunderets of pages of sonic doujinshi, and that was the beginning of my adventure with drawing comics (and single pictures).
What is your favourite part of the process - sketching, linearting, colouring, adding last touches, maybe designing or thinking about the picture?
I love to doodle. I have few layers of paper under my mouse and keyboard, and Im scribbling there everyth

Then only to realize you only have total control of the brush but when you are moving it really slow?. But when you do quick strokes the pressure drops a lot of paint making you redraw tons of stuff?
Did you ever thought that painter its hard to handle with new tablet? Too much pressure? If it has more pressure why i cant control more easier the beggining of the stroke which is more crucial?.

Can I use your artwork for my blogs/LJ/etc?
For recreational non-profit use, by all means, be my guest. Credit would be lovely, but not mandatory.
LEGASP. You've got an art thief at so and so page!
I'm glad you've taken time to inform me, but I don't really care so much if my own artwork gets stolen (it's frequent anyways XD). The best route is just to quietly report it. Unless they're using it for profit, then that's a whole other issue..
Can I hire you for projects?
If time permits and the offer is fair, perhaps.
What Programs do you generally use to CG?
Adobe Photoshop 7, Open Canvas 4, Sai.
How do you do lineart? They look so clean.
I just draw how everyone else does. They're not clean at all, especially at full view. By drawing on a large canvas, and then reducing its size, the im

Im always hesitant on tutorials because I'm a very irky person and I don't like when things are used wrongly (meaning, I dont like when people just use tutorials to replicate a style instead of improving their own)... Canvas sizes - inches and dpi and pixelsThis is a sort of guide on canvas sizes, inches, dpi and pixel x pixels.Canvas sizes - inches and dpi and pixels2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
when it came to canvas sizes, I always kind of assumed that inches belonged with dpi and pixels were just pixels and that everyone knew that; but i read a whole bunch of comments on a tumblr blog where someone asked about canvas sizes, and SO MANY people were replying with things such as, "4000x4000 px at 300 dpi" or "2000x2000 px at 200dpi".
and I guess not everyone quite understands what dpi's really used for xD.
DPI = Dots per Inch. It means how many dots will be printed per inch.
DPI is actually used for printing purposes. It shows the printer how much pixels to print per inch, literally. A common printer (at home or even at a lot of printing stores) at best prints at 150dpi most of the time actually; there are some super duper great printers that can print REALLY fine that can go up to ...apparently a lot more xD; #dpi, so that's why everyone usually suggests saving your project at 300dpi; most printers are f
Timing fucking matters.Time does a lot of things, it makes you older, it gets you to places, it never stops going forward. However you control when and how you use it!Timing fucking matters.2 months ago in Personal More Like This
Everyone makes choices on a daily bases, most of them are actually done with your auto-pilot function out of habit.
Most people usually sit in the same spot on the couch, chooses what to wear based on previously made combinations and so on, unless they consciously become aware of their action and might decide it's time for a change. It can be a small thing that makes people aware of their options
You can count that pretty much every person out there works like this and YOU often depend on THEIR choices.
My point of this journal is saying: Use this in your advantage!
Time can be compared to a diet. Eating to much bad stuff will make you unhealthy and feel bad, while eating healthy things will keep you going and feel good. So time can either make you feel stuck in one place, maybe even going backwards (ageing already does that for you) or
