Merry Christmas and a Happy New YearHello fellow friends, watchers and everyone else who stumbles upon this...Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year1 year ago in Art Features More Like This
Today is the 4th Advent, in not even 6 (for some people 7) days is Christmas Eve. Because I won't be at home from Christmas until the 29th or even 30th of December I decided to put up a nice Feature of Christmas Art. Today I had my Mum, her boyfriend and his father over for dinner. We had fried trout filets, boiled potatoes and cucumber sald and a nice apple-vanilla-cinnamon junket as Dessert. I wanted to do something for them - they always support me so much and the father of my mum's boyfriend invites us for dinner so often and he just won't let me pay when we go to a restaurant. So yeah - this is the only chance I have to invite all of them for dinner...and it was so nice even though a lot of work - I guess I will do it againI think somewhere around next year - maybe in April before Easter Sunday or something like that...maybe earlier..I don't know yet ^^ I'm

Apophysis is a freestanding and freeware flame fractal generator originally created by Mark Townsend. According to Damien M. Jones and L. Kerry Mitchell in The Fractal Art Manifesto http://www.fractalus.com/info/manifesto.htm "Generating fractals can be an artistic endeavor, a mathematical pursuit, or just a soothing diversion." Whatever your reasons for wanting to create fractal art, using Apophysis will get you started. It may look intimidating when you first open it, but once you jump in and start using Apophysis, you will find that you can create beautiful fractal art almost right way.
Here are a few tips and tricks we have compiled to help every fractal artist from beginner to advanced users. A very big thank you to everyone who contributed to this article. After each one you will find the name and/or link to the source of the information.

A very important messageHi everyone! How are you all doing? It's been awhile since I updated my journal and there is a particular issue I want to discuss...A very important message1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Art theft. It seems lately, I've noticed, that it's getting worse and worse. Or at least for me anyway... So I wanted to dig deep into the meaning of art theft and explain in detail what it means to us artists trying to make a living, or for any under-appreciated artist.
What is Art Theft?
This is my personal answer to this question. Art theft is the action of a person(s), in which they deliberately copy, reproduce, edit, publish, transmit, upload, etc, in any way, without artist written consent (written consent is far more legit than spoken words, as written can be a binding contract, which can be later used as evidence). Art theft is the action of right-clicking & saving, uploading (without permission). It can also be art theft when deliberately copied, such as painting the exact photograph (if said photograph is NOT a stock photo), and used without per

A lot I have to worry about. The people who will supposedly come to help mom want the house modified/cleaned as I've said and dad wanted me to do a lot of the work they would do first off before they get here. It was rough but I got a lot done. The rush to get mom home right now. *Nicely* timed right as I'm starting my new class unsure of what it will require and how it will go. *sighs*
I'm still writing and it's pretty enjoyable. I've perfected a lot of procrastination especially through Kongregate. I would link some of what I've wasted time on but I'd rather not affect others with the same fate. Stomach is going decently better lately. I can't even remember what I had for dinner tonight. I think something along the lines of the usual. We're going to need to puree for mom for all her meals. Turn her every three hours since people will be watching. Other stuff. Reposition her. No cathet

Warning: long journal is long!
I've been talking with fellow deviants this morning, and a lot of thoughts came to my mind. A lot of things I think it could be nice to talk about, 2011 is almost gone and I could do my part sharing with you my resolutions for the new year, deviantART related clearly
I remember that when I started fractaling three years ago that I got comments, faves, watches, support since the very first days I decided to publish my early practicing flames. I remember getting features, joining active groups (at that time the best ones were #FractalDreams and ~ImagersFractalDDs ) participating to many contests. I wonder... is it still like this? How does the new-come fractal artist feel when he/she first tries to join deviantART fractal community?
Maybe it's just my impression, but I think this place has become less welcoming than it used to be, despite
Generous donatorsI've had a lot on my plate the last weeks, so I had to give up two of the groups was an admin in, so I can focus more onto the two groups I'm founder for, :#fractalhousewives: and :#spectrum-of-art: Since SoA is the biggest one, with most members, it's above 3500 members I have to focus onto it first. So, I've gotten three new admins :iconyaayplz: and now I want to try to make it a supergroup. So I put up a donation pool.Generous donators1 year ago in Personal More Like This
These who donate more than 50 points will get a journal feature. But all donations are highly valued, and I'll collect them all and make a big feature later
Here are the donors! Give them all your love!

My TreeMy TreeMy Tree10 months ago in Personal More Like This
I've had a good bit of time to reflect on this from earlier this evening. Let me lay out the situation.
When I was born, my parents planted a pine tree in the backyard for me. It was a little thing. A pitiful thing. Really, truly, it was planted in the wrong place. In a garden area to the side of the backyard with not much room to grow. But there it was.
It was my tree. When I was young I liked to sit next to it and read. Nothing big enough for shade but it was my tree. I grew up. I watered it every day, even if it was just from an old sand bucket. Whenever I could. For years straight.
There came a time when it got too big for its little place and too top-heavy. It got crushed under a particular snowfall one year. It bent. It nearly broke. It couldn't support itself. But it was still growing out. Sideways, slantways...whatever could get it a bit of light through the heavy cover of the fruitless mulberry that towered above. It's often sickly. It doesn't even have pines for a lon
APOPHYSISWe are going to have special features (from time to time)about the different software programs that we all use to make our fractal image art. This first one centers around the very popular program APOPHYSIS.APOPHYSIS1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Apophysis is an open source fractal flame editor and renderer for Microsoft Windows.
Apophysis has many features for creating and editing fractal flames, including an editor which allows one to directly edit the transforms by manipulating triangles, a mutations window, which applies random edits to the triangles, an adjust window, which allows the adjustment of coloring and location of the image, and even a scripting language with direct access to most of the components of the fractal, which allows for effects such as the animations seen in Electric Sheep, which are also fractal flames. Users can export fractal flames to other fractal flame rendering programs, such as FLAM3.Scott Draves invented Fractal Flames and published an open source implementation written in C in t

your careful mask of
cool detachment,
mild amusement,
cheerful greetings,

stoicism,

grieving sorrow,

Apophysis F.A.Q.We noticed there was a constant income of recurring questions about Apophysis on the group's homepage, so I collected the most common ones and `XyrusWorx kindly answered them for usApophysis F.A.Q.3 years ago in Personal More Like This.
Getting started
Where do I get Apophysis? Is it expensive?
Apophysis is free, open-source software. That means, it does not cost you a cent. In addition, everyone is able to change the software using
the available source code. This is also why there are different
versions of Apophysis:
Apophysis 2.x
The "official" or "main" version of Apophysis. You can download it from Apophysis.org
Apophysis 2.08 3D
The original Apophysis 3D hack. You can download it from Sourceforge.net (where you can also get newer beta versions of Apophysis 2.x)
Apophysis 7x
A popular version of Apophysis including all 3D features, better support for Windows Vista and Windows 7 and a
How to win at deviantART: The categories gameThe categories game refers to the switching or misplacement of deviations into less competitive or algorithm preferred submission categories in order to gain a ranking advantage in dA's popularity algorithm, generally as a means of appearing more frequently on front page and subsequently gaining greater exposure. How to win at deviantART: The categories game1 year ago in Editorials More Like This
The categories game arises from the inherent category biases under dA's "fair exposure" policy. The goal of the policy is to "maximize the display of the most popular deviations in a variety of topics with Fair Exposure, the community is exposed to a varied cross-section of deviantART. " What this boils down to is that certain categories have inherent ranking advantages and others inherent ranking disadvantages on front page. For more information on dA's fair exposure policy and how it leads to the categories game, consult my last journal on "How to win at deviantART: Exposed: http://roseonthegrey.deviantart.com/journal/How-to-win-at-deviantART-Exposed-289765235"

Regarding CopyrightsIn light of all the problems people are having with other sites taking our fractals and using them as they see fit...i have put together some information...Regarding Copyrights1 year ago in Personal More Like This
The best advice in this post is: If you need legal counsel, then seek it. Don't get it from the internet or this post. Hire professionals who do it for a living, and for the love of god, don't defend yourself in court.
you all know i am not very technical so this is gonna be pretty rough at best but this is what i do if i find my art somewhere i don't want it.......
the first thing i do is contact the person displaying it and advise them all my images are copyright protected and please remove it....
then i wait a few days...
if the image is still there then i send the site an email with this form.....keeping things professional at this point is a must...and just sending an email asking them to remove the image will not work......here is the form i use

Around the block and back to dAI've been on other art sharing sites. But in the end I always come back to dA.Around the block and back to dA1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Why? I don't really think dA offers anything special in terms of browsing features, options, or other amenities. Its forums are just like any other forums. Frankly its journal and news system has become a machine for spewing out drama.
But there's something special about its people.
Somehow dA has managed to bring together people from all around the world who share a common appreciation for art; people who show their appreciation for art either by faving, watching and supporting other artists or by contributing their own artworks and striving towards improving their art.
People here don't have a concept of a "repost." To us, it's simply art theft. If you didn't make it from scratch from your own two hands, don't even attempt to put your name on it and pass it off as your creation here.
People here don't obsess over front page. We don't give thank you speeches for getting on front page as if it's some life ch
