RELIGIOUS TOLERANCE- An Introduction
Why can’t Christians just exercise their own faith, and leave alone those people who have other beliefs? After all, isn’t it judgmental and unloving to criticize someone else’s religious beliefs?
RELIGIOUS TOLERANCE- The Age of Tolerance
Because we live in an age of tolerance where almost anything goes, openly questioning or criticizing other people’s belief systems can quickly get you labelled as judgmental, narrow-minded, bigoted, hateful, and even ignorant. And with regard to Christianity, Matthew 7:1 is often quoted (or should I say “misquoted”) to discourage Christians from putting other religious teachings and practices to the test.
RELIGIOUS TOLERANCE- Do Not Judge?
This assertion, however, is simply false, as the Bible clearly speaks out not against passing judgme

Pay the PayPal FeesHave you seen someone take commissions with the following in their terms: you must pay the PayPal fee (calculate it at a site like http://www.ppcalc.com)?Pay the PayPal Fees3 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Every time I run across someone with those terms, I tell them this is against PayPal's terms of service. Some respond 'oh, okay' and remove it, others argue with me and say it's not against their terms. One person has said they will refuse to work on the commission unless I do pay the fees.
I contacted PayPal directly regarding this to get final word on whether this is a violation or not.
Here is my question:
When I am shopping online, I often see people have a rule that if you pay with PayPal, you have to calculate the "paypal fee" and add that on top of the price of the product or service. Some people will refuse to ship or work if they do not receive the "full amount" (without the paypal fee added in).
Is it against the paypal terms of service for these people to do this? What should I tell them

In 2014, DeviantArt turned 14 years old. Fourteen years is a long time, some of you reading this may be younger than that. I've gathered some historical information with the help of Moonbeam13 and some members of the Community Relations team to help enlighten those of you who have joined in recent years and missed out on a chunk of DeviantArt's life.
I hope you enjoy taking a step back in time!
Please note: it is extremely difficult to track down some events in DeviantArt's history (in particular, the first few years) and that some dates are only approximate.

Well if you're an American citizen, you're protected under that infamous law known as the DMCA, or the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. If you right click your ripped image and select properties, youll be able to see the address where the image is hosted. If its photobucket or some other easily accessible site then you have it easy and you know where to go to find a support email address. If your image is hosted on a dot com, youll need to do a WhoIs search and the name server that is listed will usually give away the company that is physically hosting the site. You can then get in contact with most sites through a webmaster or support email if you take a quick look around their site.
So now you know where your image is, what company is hosting it, and how to get a hold of them, then you scratch your head and ask

Having been thinking a lot about the origins of our globally held Dragon mythos in a recent article Reptilicus Infernicus, I couldn’t help but notice the Cthulhu legend was always lurking at the edges of my mind as I was researching the subject matter.
The Enemy at the Gates, the “Other”, forever lurking in the darkness and plotting an invasion most evil and an enslavement most hideous, is probably the original seminal “narrative” that was born when humans first acq

The recently announced changes to the core mythos of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the backlash from fans over the ending to Mass Effect 3 have ignited an incredible discussion about the rapidly evolving “collaborative” relationship between producers and consumers of videogames, movies, and similar “products.” Now it’s exploded beyond the secure borders of top news publications, gamin

Arizona. EDIT: vetoed!EDIT: the bill has been vetoed! THANK LOGIC!Arizona. EDIT: vetoed!1 year ago in Personal More Like This
recently, Arizona has become quite dickish when it starts trying to pass laws.
long story short, the bill allows business owners & employees to refuse service to, mainly, LGBTQ if their religious beliefs dont agree with LGBTQ.
now, for those of you who arent up to date with American goverment/live outside the US, theres one big thing that America seems to forget: America has a SEPARATION OF CHURCH & STATE.
in otherwords; you can hang crosses, menorahs & any type of religious attire around your neck, house & anything you own. but religion cannot be taught in schools & other state owned places.
does this apply to business owners & places of retail & restaurants? in some cases, those buildings are state owned. Religion & Business are supposed to be SEPARATED when it comes to that, right?
so why are Arizona legislatures thinking that this is a good idea? protecting one's beliefs because someone else doesnt agree w
On Bisexuality [With a side rant about polyamory]On Tumblr, someone posted a video about a man explaining how bisexuals have to deal with people doubting them and I agree with all his points. I have dated at least one bisexual man - I have seen him get hard over both men and women. I also have a friend who is bisexual and while he is in a relationship with a woman, he expresses interest in men freely. I have another friend named Cai who likes all genders and they are in an open relationship - have been with men, women, etc - and they frequently have to deal with people thinking they only like women because for awhile their main lover was a woman.
I get really defensive over people saying bisexuality isn't valid - I've heard it from other gay men and it just makes me furious. I'm not trying to get bi-ally points or anything, it genuinely ruins my goddamn day because on one level, it's so presumptuous to think you know how another person's love works and on an
4 Kinds of StorytellingHere's an old journal from 2010 about storytelling. So for you old timers, feel free to skip.4 Kinds of Storytelling2 years ago in Personal More Like This
In full disclosure, I slightly edited this journal to make it a little more balanced (while also fixing a ton of typos).
I feel like the word "storytelling" gets thrown around a lot in our industry. Yet when I look out there at some comics, I don't always see a lot of evidence for it.
It feels like people in comics pros--myself included--often use the word only because we feel like we're supposed to. Over the years enough professionals have been accused of being poor storytellers to the degree that everyone is now afraid of being a pinup artist as opposed to a bona fide storyteller. But it's not enough just to claim you're a storyteller.

Please Read. It is about all of you.My wonderful lovely wife, who I believe I adore as much as my hero Kevin Smith adores his Jen, got me a copy of Kevin Smith's book, Tough Shit. I am just finished with chapter 1 and I am hooked, absorbed, in love even. Sorry Kev, I hope that isn't too weird for you. Hero worship and all is the stuff of strangeness at its very heart anyways. I have read George Carlin's book, and Dennis Leary's and now I get to read Kevin Smith's. I enjoy seeing into the minds of my heroes. Already I am taking to heart what Kevin has to say, and with that, I think it is also important to add: Fuck the world, it is can be a shitty, hateful, kick you in the genitals place. However, here, in dAland I have found some very special people to DERP with and I want you all to know that I think highly of each and everyone of you.
