As I slogged into the house after
braving a ravenous winter storm,
the only thing I expected was to dry off
and warm up by the fire,
and proceed to put myself to bed.
What I did find was so much more.
As I walked into the family room,
my breath stuck in my throat.
Everything was beautiful
My parents must have just
come home from the tree farm,
because the fresh scent
of an evergreen pine
wafted throught the room
like the smell of homemade
It was pleasantly decorated
with some cheerful lights
and family ornaments.
A few expertly wrapped
presents lay under the tree,
and I could harly resist
the temptation to bend down
and check which one's were
As I moved on, I stopped
in front of the fireplace, and
was mesmerized by the dancing
flames, the smoke drifting
lazily up the chimney.
The word implanted itself
in the front of my brain.
What a perfect word to
describe what i was

Even when those who claim no religion as their own,
Open their mouths, minds and hearts in hope for another;
Each little spark that rises from the heart of someone
In the hope of a Devine Intervention to save a life,
Each is collected until a Heavenly fire burns
And angels get the call;
Someone needs help.
I've never really believed the verse that says
When two or more are gathered in His name
God will be there and listen...
But this morning many gathered,
Some in His name,
And sent their sparks of hope skyward.
I owe my life not to the fact that I failed at failing,
But to those who never lost their spark of hope.
And to you, one day, I will be able to say thank you;
Meaning the words instead of uttering them like a mantra.
Your sparks ignited a fire in Heaven,
And God listened.
