Interview for Chaotic212Chaotic212 asked the following:
1. When you're concepting a world for a story you're working on, what are a few of the things you think about?
For my own story, I have gone so far as to plot out everything from climatological maps to topographic maps, population charts, precipitation averages, roads and highways, as well as boarders. All these things create elements for interesting story telling. This is talking about making a new planet form scratch, so there are many things involved. I even know which plants grow in what part of the country and industries that are intrinsic to certain areas.
I do all this because i love to research and I love maps. I enjoy the slight difference between certain places and incorporate that into my own work to make it more rich and convincing. How boring would it be if we only had one type of tree or all the buildings looked the same? Creating a world is a very in depth process that is story telling in and of itself.
