"You're way too young to fall apart...
The house was empty. Quiet. Dark.
Just how I liked it.
But I trusted Tom on his word, he'd be back. I know he would be. He doesn't seem like the kind of guy to let you into his heart then forget you... He seems different. In a good, kind way. Not the bad, bitchy, douche bag way. If he was like that, I wouldn't even have gotten near him, much less kissed him.
Hell, did I really kiss him? A boy? I've never even kissed a girl! But a boy? My God... I've changed too much just by meeting him.
I sighed deeply and sat down in front of the couch yeah, you heard me. In front of it. I stared down at the floor for the longest time. What was I thinking when I asked him over? What the hell was I even letting run through my damn mind. Ugh... But what if I was right, what I thought of last night? What if he is cheating on someone, with me? Of all people in Germany, Europe, the WORLD. Me? Why me? Am I that special? Am I reall

"You're way too young to fall apart...
I was still laying on my bed sobbing, holding my right arm as tight as I could so the bleeding would stop.
My face was stained with tears and the usual black eyeliner I wear was running down as well. I felt horrible. Tattered. Torn. Smashed.
My head pounded as I sat up, still clutching my upper right arm. I looked over at the mirror across my room, seeing the fist-sized bruise that now made up my entire left cheek. I then looked down under my hand, on my arm. The same, deep, long wound was dragged into my skin. Just enough I could faintly see the muscle of my bicep. I hate my life. So fucking much. Why didn't he just get it over with and kill me? No. Instead, he makes me suffer. That stupid lying bitch makes me suffer like... Like... Like a kicked kitten.
Actually, I was kicked. Not a kitten, but I was kicked. My right side actually was pulsing and cringing itself with pain, along my ribcage. How did I not

Following is a short list of ideas and premise used in this story. Please read it before starting on the story. It will make more sense.
Sesshoumaru and Kureha had studied together since they were children.
Kureha's mother and Inu no Taishou had an alliance against a foreign youkai invasion, and since then their kin kept their alliance.
Kureha was entrusted to Sesshoumaru's mother while she received lessons from sages gathered at Sesshoumaru's mother's palace.
They met every few years, and Kureha stayed about half a year each time.
Kureha's Orochi (Great Serpent) clan and Sesshoumaru's Inu Daiyoukai have different customs and social structure.
Youkai do not have convention of marriage.
In my universe, Inupop was an absent father. He did not live with Sessmom, and he visited Sessmom and Sesshoumaru from time to time, occasionally giving Sesshoumaru lessons when he was around. (as seen in Y

It was near daybreak.
The blue torch flames that lit up Shirakume's palace faded as the darkness of the night began to yield to the approaching light.
Two of Kureha's apparitions were moving through the palace, carrying large caskets belonging to their mistress.
They glided through the long outdoor passageway between the wings of the palace, then entered into the dimly lit hallway of the next building.
Suddenly, they both halted.
Sesshoumaru stood in their way. &

Sesshoumaru stood silently while two female servants dressed him in his suite.
They seemed to be new, about his age or slightly younger.
They were both attractive, and seemed too sheltered to be serving their position.
It was evident that they were nervous, and they were not adept at what they were doing.
Their delicate hands were suitable for handling the fine fabric, though they were neither assertive nor efficient. They were having difficulty with fastening his kariginu* properly.
He was irritated by their ineptitude. However, it was pointless to make them even more nervous by showing

Hakage sat in front of Sesshoumaru with her back as straight and rigid as one of stone pillars.
"...You...require my assistance?" She did not hide her astonishment.
"You understand what that means." Sesshoumaru watched her intently.
"I cannot let you inside of the Matriarch's chamber. You must stay at the guest's palace this evening." Hakage answered decisively.
She was afraid to anger him, however, it was not something she could allow herself to do. Even if they tried, Kuchinagimaru's presence would surely escalate such attempt into a disastrous situation. She was not confident about escaping the astute Lord of the Orochi's notice, even with Sesshoumaru's effort. Still, she felt sympathetic to his wish.

Since it has been a while, I'd like to remind you a few things:
Shirakume:</b> is Sesshoumaru's mother's name that I came up with for this story.
New characters from the previous chapter:
Kosame and Hakage: are Kureha's two handmaidens. Hakage has some awareness about Kureha's relationship to Sesshoumaru.
Kuchinagimaru: is Kureha's mate selected by the Orochi clan. He will lead the Orochi males under Kureha after her enthronement.
Inu no Taishou's plan against Ryukotsusei proceeded despite Sesshoumaru's opposition and Kureha's plea. Kureha returned to her stronghold with the scroll that Sesshoumaru had handed to her. Now Shirakume (Sessmom) expects Sesshoumaru to play a role. Meanwhile...

Sesshoumaru and Teiroushin were led to one of the rooms where guests waited before being announced, on the same floor as the meeting hall.
It was an elegant room.
The Orochi, incorporated natural elements into their architecture. This created a feeling of being out in nature, even inside of a room. The constant sound of waterfalls echoed softly throughout their interior spaces. The waiting rooms walls were hung with vines with delicate white blossoms, which covered the surface of the bare rock, and draped over the moss on the floor. The moss emitted a subtle light, and brighter torches secured on the pillars above lit their high ceiling. There was a large folding scree

Sesshoumaru followed Kuchinagimaru to a field in an opening in the forest, not too far from the hall where the celebration was taking place. The hall was built on the highest point of the Yamata island, and its large roof floated above, like an enormous ship riding on the edge of a high wave. From where they stood, they could still hear the faint sound of music and the crowd in the night breeze.
The two had been silent since Sesshoumaru agreed to come with Kuchinagimaru.
"I would give you a 'lesson' or two, if what you wish is a match."
In a testy tone, Sesshoumaru spoke to the back of the Lord of the Orochi. He was well aware that ever since they first met, his attitude had been inappropriate toward this male, the highest authority of the Orochi clan next to the Matriarch. Nevertheless, Se

This story directly continues from the previous story, "An Emergence 2".
I wanted to adopt the "two swords issue" into my Sesshoumaru centric narrative. I decided to play with the concept that Sesshoumaru's mother was a hidden mastermind who plotted challenges for Sesshoumaru. (particulary around forcing Sesshoumaru to discard Tenseiga.)
I'm using an idea from the Inuyasha movie 3, that Inupop's injury from a battle with Ryukotsusei added to his cause of his death when he went to rescue Izayoi while still being injured from the battle.
Anyway, the story will gradually get to that part as the conversation between Sessmom and Teiroushin continues.

The Sound of SilenceOn long drives, I like the sound of tires moving over pavementThe Sound of Silence5 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
It's like a soft humming, barely distinguishable if you've got the radio blasting,
or if the people around you are talking up a storm
I especially love the low whistle while passing over a bridge,
it breaks the monotonous humming for a few seconds
In silence, I can hear things so much better
Like now as I am sitting here at my desk:
I hear my computer,
it hums too, but in a different way than wheels over roads
It's a constant humming, unwavering
I hear my hand,
brushing across the paper as I write
It's a somewhat jerky sound, random and fluctuate in volume
depending on my speed (or lack thereof) as I form these words
I hear birds,
greeting one another just outside my open window
Their chirps and calls repetitive
(I wonder what they are trying to tell me over and over)
I hear my clock,
the continuous "click" as the minutes pass by,
giving the silence it's very own heartbeat
Right now I'm screaming inside, but no one can hear

ii. When you saw your reflection in the looking glass, you began to see someone else.
You couldn't recognize the face in the mirror. you reached out to touch who you thought you were, and your hand slipped through the surface like a hand submerging into water. And that was the last you saw of your face (or at least, what you thought was your face)
iii. So now, you became a faceless creature. You saw without eyes, hearing only static and white noise. You walked on abandoned sidewalks, tripping over broken glass and getting tangled up in withered weeds. It is there where you completely lost yourself. Kureha fell silent, and gazed upon Sesshoumaru's countenance half lit by the lamp in front of her.
His pale face appeared like a lacquered noh mask* to her, concealing so much of his emotion behind its restrained, flawless surface. His stern words revealed his impulse to push her away, yet there he was right in front of her, giving dispassionate counsel as she required from him. Whatever feelings he kept to himself, were not for her to know at this time.
She too, sought to maintain the distance from the one she once knew intimately, and play through her role in this private performance as the Orochi Matriarch. Nevertheless, in her heart Kureha recalled the silence she shared with him not long ago, when words were replaced by the touch of lips, and
The Things I Never Told YouI'll start with this, a simple wishThe Things I Never Told You5 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
My long-awaited dream to fly
When you told me forever, I almost believed you
And I nearly let my hidden wings unfold
But then I thought maybe you didn't mean forever, not really
Maybe you were just exaggerating
So I tucked them away, hiding them deep within myself again
Flying would prove to be very lonesome, if I had no one to join me
The second was my inner desire to become lost,
To somehow lose myself in search of uncovering who I wanted to be
But to merely pretend, and fall into the masquerade of life was too effortless
Instead I sought to be free, to find what made me different and never change
That's where we clashed unpleasantly
You always knew where you were going; you always had a plan
I only drifted aimlessly, hoping that with a hint of serendipity sooner or later
I would unearth what I was looking for
Losing myself would be rather impossible, if I had nobody to find me again
The final was the most significant, but also the most strange

Rin's adventures were many, and what few of them are known are told elsewhere. Her name was not spoken often, but when it was spoken, it was with reverence. She did many mighty deeds, but asked nothing for them in return, not even thanks. There was the time that she obliterated an entire youkai army, single-handedly, in just one night. And then there was the time that she saved a large coastal settlement from an onrushing tsunami...
It was a terrible and beautiful sight: A slender woman standing alone on a high promontory over the seacoast, her hair blowing in the wind, a naked sword outstretched in each hand. Bakusaiga, the soul-sword of Sesshomaru, blazing with red and green tongues of supernal fire; Tenseiga, the sword of life, its mystical lighting cleaving the heavens and dancing along its blade; and above her head, a great whirling vortex of human and youkai energy, as her spirit and her guardian's danced and sparked toget

One evening, not too long after she began her journeys as her own mistress, Rin came over a small rise to discover the remains of a small village, its humble homes nothing but burning embers.
"Rin-sama," Jaken said hastily, "This is of no concern to you. There is nothing to be done here. We will find another road. Let us leave this sadness behind us."
Rin did not move an inch; she stood still as a stone, her face slowly growing pale. "It was just like this in my own village... the day my parents were killed." Her left hand sought out the hilt of Bakusaiga, and she grasped it so hard that her knuckles turned white. "Bandits," she said through clenched teeth. "I hate them. I hate them more than anything else."
"Rin." Sesshomaru's voice entered her thoughts; he could sense her anger, and his words came gently. "I hear only the weeping of children, and I smell only blood and death."
Without really looking where she was going, Rin ha

"Who are you?" I asked, using the outstretched hand he offered.

As the years passed, Rin grew into a stunningly beautiful young woman: slender, graceful, and nearly as tall as Sesshomaru. Her hair was as long as Sesshomaru's, but black as the night, as dark as his was white. Despite the dour moods of her youkai guardians, she never lost the joy and grace that she had had as a child. Not a day passed that she did not pick flowers for her hair; from time to time she would sneak one or two into Jaken's staff or even his hat, much to his loud objections. And if she found any that were especially lovely, she would weave a garland for Sesshomaru. She never offered them to him directly, but would hang them on Aun's left side, the side at which Sesshomaru walked, without saying a word to anyone; and although Sesshomaru never acknowledged her gifts, he never walked far from the great beast's side when his garland was there.

Glas Clann Tribe, Ancient Oak Forest
Offaly County, Ireland approx. 5000 BC
Nothing could have woken the village faster than the high pitched scream that Saorla, a respected mother of the Glas Clann tribe, let out that morning.
It rang throughout the village, leaving a haunted echo that seemed to rummage through each hut to wake the inhabitants.
"Goodness!" Started Aonghas, who bolted upright from his pillow in alarm "what is it this time?"
Early morning light poured in through the entrance flap of his hut. As he sat, blinking through the hazy darkness, a cool breeze rustled its way in and filled the room, making Aonghas shiver under his blanket. He had never really been much of a morning person, even though morning always seemed to enjoy bursting into his hut each day to greet him.

His name is Raffaelo, and he is completely unimportant for your life. To be honest, he has nothing to do with you.
