PE: How to Animate in GimpHow to Animate in GimpPE: How to Animate in Gimp2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Gimp is a free photo editing software that you can download at gimp.org. You can use it for a lot of different things like photo manipulations, drawing, pixel art, etc. Today though, we will be covering the topic of animation!
Note that this tutorial will only show the basics of Gimp animation. How to make the frames, how to save it and the such. So let's get started!
Start by making the subject. I just used a random black ball, but the subject can be as simple or as complex as you want, depending on what you're making. Make sure you switch over to the layers tab.
Tip: If you do not already have the layers tab there by default, go to any of the tabs and press that little arrow that the green arrow is pointing at. After you click tab press: Add tab> Layers. After that, the layer tab like in the picture should show up.

Drawing tips - tutorialHello watchersDrawing tips - tutorial2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Some people ask me how I learned to draw and what tips I can give them! So I wrote a tutorial and hope it will help! Here are my tips for you to become a better drawer!
First of all a good drawing stands with good materials. Good paper (no copy paper) and good pencils. If you're not sure, the expensive ones are mostly pretty good! For graphite I use Staedtler Mars Lumograph and for colour Faber-Castell "Polycromos".You need to use different numbers of pencils: 4H for very light areas and 6B for the dark areas. A big contrast in a drawing makes a better drawing! You can't make a good drawing with one HB pencil. You need a 6B or 4B to create more depth in the drawing.Choose a good picture. The greatest drawer in the world can't make a good drawing from a bad picture. A high-resolution image is necessary to see all the details! Next to the high-resolution, it has to be an interesting picture. The result could be a beautiful drawing, however a boring image wouldn't attract a
The YTP Tutorial SequelGreetings, everyone! I must say I had quite an experience at Bronycon. I couldn't be happier that I went, mainly because of the panels I attended, among them "Comics 101," "Critiquing 101," "How to Write a Better Script" and (my favorite) "Psychology for Your OC." Like my favorite Pony would, I took notes on each of these panels so I wouldn't forget what the speakers said. After listening to the advice and knowledge of so many talented people, I felt refreshed and enlightened, like a whole new artist! The YTP Tutorial Sequel2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Throughout the con, I was thinking about how to apply what I learned to my artistry, and I ended up connecting much of what I heard to YouTube Poop. Incredibly, at the last panel I went to, all 3 of the panelists were familiar with YouTube Poop (one of them was even a YTPMV creator called SgtScrubnoob). It was after that panel that I decided, once Skellington's Revenge and the Q&A Panel were out of the way, to start mapping out a sequel to my old YouTube Poop T

If I could DD - featureMy small contribution for the community project "If I could DD". I'm taking the opportunity to collect some nice features without the stress that comes with the CV position. If I could DD - feature3 months ago in Personal More Like This
My category of choice is (unsurprisingly) Photo-Manipulation (although I was considering Space Art and Scifi for a moment).
Since I am not a real CV I took the liberty to ignore the lack of stock credits or description in some of the deviations, and some others already have a lot of favorits, but so what. Other than that they should all be eligible (I think). Enjoy the features!

1. Hello! For the beginning, could you tell us something about yourself?
Hi there! I am Ulla Thynell, a 30-something illustrator living in Helsinki (Finland) with my spouse and our little daughter. I've always been passionate about imagination and stories, both the written and visual variety.
2. When did you read Tolkien's books for the first time, and what impression did they leave in you?
I read The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings first in the mid-90's when I was aroud 12 years old. I was an omnivorous bookw
