FAQHere I've compiled a list of the questions I get asked the most often ^_^
1) How long have you been making miniatures?
I started out in July of 2008 with a book by Sue Heaser called Making Doll's House Miniatures with Polymer Clay. It's a fantastic book with very easy to follow tutorials on everything from miniature potatoes to Tiffany style lamps. I was amazed at how such simple clay techniques could produce incredibly realistic results. From there I started using pictures of real food as a reference and it's spiraled into an obsession ever since!
2) Where do you purchase your plates and other miniature accessories?
Luckily there's a local miniatures shop called Little Enchantments (http://www.littleenchantments.com) that has anything doll sized you could possibly ask for. I've also bought dishes and all sorts of cutlery from Ebay.
3) Do you make the plates or just the food?
I only make the food ^_^ The only n

DOLL FAQ. [updated 05/18/2015]Ok, so I decided to put up a Doll FAQ just like anyone else. Because my doll family is growing faster than I thought it would. Am I allowed to use your photo's?
NO. If you want to use my photo for a specific purpose. LET ME KNOW. I might re-consider if you tell me personally and give me a proper reason.
Can I use your characters (dolls) for my own story/RPG.
No, my dolls are my own vision and characters. I put in a lot of effort into them and their story and such. But you're allowed to ask me. As long as I know about it I'm more okay with it. I w
'You thought I was helpful!' Reverse Feature!Yeah okay, so I was searching myself on DA, just to see what came up. Lots of people who found my tutorials and resources helpful, is what! This is really cool, it makes me happy to know that a lot of the things I've done in the past few years have helped inspire and influence people to try something new, try something hard, to really push themselves forward! Whether it be practicing perspective, color theory, or just trying something new with my brush set, this journal is a selection of the stuff that really popped out at me, and to say thanks! Please take any questions related to buying from specific companies to the company websites, they all have Q&A boards for that specific purpose, from now on I wont be responding to such questions as I am not a company rep.
Please bare in mind that this FAQ is intended to answer questions that I get asked regularly about my own dolls. While I have been in the hobby for a few years now I can't claim to know everything there is to know about BJDs, especially when it comes to companies I have little to no personal interest in. If you do have general questions about BJDs rather than ones specific to my photography or my dolls please do a search over on DOA ( http://www.denofangels.com/forums/index.php ) first. I will attempt to answer any questions I can but please understand I never intended this as a question and answer about the hobby or doll buying in general.
If the below doesn't answer your question then please feel

Featured Prints Artist: Stanley Lau
Stanley Lau a.k.a. Artgerm is a busy child as an illustrator, designer, concept artist and art director. Born and bred in Hong Kong, he soaked up his creativity and interest in arts early on and trained his artistic skills and knowledge ever since in a never-ending process. Filled with creative juices to the top of his head, Stanley is active all day with various projects at his Imaginary Friends Studios designing art and concepts for computer and card games companies, animation houses or comic publishers. He is also founder of his own advertising & design agency and a t-shirt label, and when Stanley is not working on any of these, he can be found playing video games across many platforms or the occasional karaoke session. We are proud to feature Artgerm as our Prints Artist of the Month in a very interesting interview.

Much Ado about ScorchHey Scorch fans! *claps hands together* …I~M CRU~EL… for not updating or never even mentioning what's happened to Scorch. But you know what I love about you guys, is that you're STILL talking about it after all these years.Much Ado about Scorch2 years ago in Personal More Like This
As some of you may know, back in 2004, when I started going to college, I began drawing early concepts for Scorch. Halloween of 2007 those fun little ideas first materialized as an experimental webcomic that I put on SmackJeeves and DrunkDuck. What started as a fun project, to my surprise and joy, ended up growing a pretty diehard audience and some loyal fans. As Scorch was really starting to take off, I thought it might be time to take it seriously and submit it to a publishing company.
Unfortunately, personal life tragedy struck before anything came of this. After getting my heart broken a few times all production stopped and I kind of went on an existential trip down the rabbit hole. It was a several years long 'tragic' adventure, which somehow… I managed to surv

My Digital Art Workstation PC Starter GuideHey everyone! Sorry for the long-time-no-show-anything. I got a real studio job back in like January and it's been eating up pretty much all of my time.My Digital Art Workstation PC Starter Guide1 year ago in Personal More Like This
However, over on my Tumblr today I wrote a quick (but long) article about the kinds of parts you should choose to build a full workstation computer to do digital art and general productivity on! All on a budget of about $450 to $600 for just the computer system itself.
Go check it out if you're thinking about building one soon! I know you can build a system for cheaper than this, but the idea was not to pick parts that were bottom-of-the-barrel. The idea was to pick quality, upper-level parts that will allow you to start doing work right away with plenty of room to upgrade to add even more performance over time (more memory, an SSD, a video card, etc.)
Hope it helps at least one of you out there!

I got the definitive word last week that Disney won't be picking up a second season of Motorcity. I want to thank you guys for doing such an amazing job on this series. Everyone on the crew stepped up to an unbelievable degree. I feel like we did exactly what we set out to do - push the quality of television animation and deliver a show that's never been seen before. You guys are the greatest, most talented crew I've had the pleasure to work with. It's my sincere goal to continue to stretch the boundaries of animation with every one of you on many projects in the future!
Thank you so much for your incredibly hard work and passion. It shows in every frame.
Titmouse will always be making new shows that are more fun and fresh that those who only care about ratings and money. still few episodes left. enjoy! Motorcity forever.

Have you ever studied Art or are you self taught?
I'd start with the part that there is no such thing as pure self taught. What it actually is, it's learning by observing what the others know. People who brag the most about being self-taught and what not also love to demean taking any lessons, or - good heavens! - even taking a look at a tutorial. All while having no idea what a difference it makes when you learn the basics, the proper, raw basics, that you can later use and develop whatever way you want. A naive way of thinking, though I suppose that everyone has that phase at some point. From personal experience, I can tell you that it's one big waste of time.
I graduated from a faculty of graphic design of technology and computer science uni last Spring, top grade with a honorary distinction. While it mostly didn't have much to do with what you can see in my dA gallery, it gave

A MYSTERIOUS SIDE
As artists, we tend to draw our characters with a beautiful and perfectly apparent face. And sometimes we forget about how cool and inspiring characters can be when we can't see their whole face. Remember how Sheik from Zelda, Amon from Legend of Korra, Master Chief from Halo, Kakashi from Naruto were (and still are) thrilling characters! And how, in every movie, a masked ball scenery can become so magical to us, viewers.
Let the imagination of your viewers define the mysterious side of your character.
What can I draw?
One or several characters with its face hidden or partially hidden.
It is allowed to use your own characters and canon characters (fanart).

The ploughed dirt has taken monstrous shapes as if the hand of a tormented sculptor wanted to impress his agony on this land.
The traces of my footsteps are long gone, probably blown away by the blizzard. And the snow... the snow is a dirty white. It doesn't even have that feel, the one I remember from childhood. It crumbles in my hands, like sand. The sky is also grey and if it weren't for distant trees you would not be able to place the horizon in the picture.
Everything is frozen. The trees have frozen, birds on branches frozen too, looking quiet and at peace.
I have to move now. I remember I was going somewhere... North... I think. I'm in no hurry, but I've seen all I can from this point. My hands are a bit cold, but it's bearable. Chest feels warm enough and the walk will get my heart pumping again.
It's going to be a hard winter. Hard for the land... hard for the trees... h
