Also, PCBC is over, sadly. I, and many others, loved it so.
I have to agree with the crit I've recieved from the judges, there are so many things that I need to improve on and their constant feedback is always appreciated!
I can safetly say that there has been major improvements in my grammar and some anatomy, thought they can still be pushed further.
Though, I was kind of sad that MikeMoroney couldn't fully finish his entry. This was the last round so I was kind of hoping they'd extend it again for him, but alas.
But yes, it was fun.
See you in IPL!
But for now, back to contracts and comissions!
So I visited PIXAR today! It was awesome! 8DSo I visited PIXAR today!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
We spent about two hours there with one of their story artists, Adrian Molina. *u* Although the first 30 minutes we just all sat and talked and ate delicious burritos underneath a gorgeous painting from Toy Story 3.
Then he looked at my portfolio, which he liked quite a bit. He said I was twice as good as he was at my age, but I ought to loosen up my figures. Then he looked at my sketchbook, which he was super impressed with. He said I should just make my portfolio look more like my sketchbook, and I'd be a shoe-in at CalARTs. xD So that was super cool! He's super nice and says to email him with his portfolios or any art or questions and he'll give me suggestions. c:
After lunch he showed us a little bit of the studio (although we weren't allowed anywhere with actual work going on, which was too bad). But I got to see TONS of concept work for Brave, which looks pretty cool! I can't really disclose any info about it obviously, but it definitely looks a little better a

Phew. That lighting is hard. I think I will reserve it for more important shots.
Anyway, the first scene I've done of Fire Tiger vs Acid Panther. If anyone's curious.
I won't upload any more scenes, as I'd like the film to be at least a bit of a surprise.
Oh wait, I just realized there are a couple of frames cut off the end. Oh well, not missing much.
Unstable Cannibal Zombie Bunny NunsI recently learned that the stereotypical "Japanese Fan Girl" is not some sort of mythical sasquatch of popular culture. I know they exist because my work somehow attracted the attention of one.Unstable Cannibal Zombie Bunny Nuns2 years ago in Personal More Like This
She showed up online one day and started posting weird fan-art and (thanks to google translate) weirder messages.
It was amusing, if a little creepy. Especially when someone found a few pictures she had drawn of a decidedly underage version of myself being violated by tentacles.
I let that slide because, hey; she was a Japanese Fan-girl. They're innately odd.
But then it turned out she was actively following me around the internet, frequenting the same sites and forums as me. Specifically B3TA; a place where you really shouldn't go unless you speak English, have a tough skin and an understanding of serrated British humour.
Fan-girl did not, and was subsequently torn to shreds.
Despite everyone's advice, however (including mine and most of the B3TAns) she kept going back. As such, I don't have m

An interview with VianaArts!Hello Europe! An interview with VianaArts!2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
We are pleased to announce the start of an all-new europeans project - member interviews! In this interview series, we will interview prominent members of our group. To kick this project off, we met up with Samuel Silva, better known on deviantART as VianaArts, for an in-depth interview. To those unfamiliar with Sam's art - he's currently taking the Internet by storm with his drawing Redhead Girl, which alone has received over 1 million views over the past couple weeks.
Europeans: Hi there Sam! Thanks for taking time out of your day to do an interview with us today.

The Server is our homeYesterday I was asked to review the server logs after another malicious attack on our server. When I was asked to do so I could not, because the girls and I were in the middle of our first recording session of the year. When the session was over I was exhausted after spending nearly eight hours solid on the computer, and needed to go do something else. By the time I returned home from my outing I was to tired to get the server logs. The Server is our home2 months ago in Personal More Like This
In order to get the logs to look over user activity in order to spot any malicious looking activity I need to shut the server down, back the whole thing up, then go through each log top to bottom. This can take a couple of hours. Even if I do spot malicious looking activity I can not be sure the person I'm reading is actually the one committing crimes. A server log is circumstantial evidence only.
Today I checked to see if the server was up, and it is not. I have left it off to sleep until I can get to it, possibly

I.L. Jackson's Guide to Ship Classes
As anyone who has glanced at my gallery knows, I am a star ship fan(atic). I love designing my own starships and I know others do too. But, I've noticed that a lot of artists do not have a good idea of ship classes, what they do (traditionally) and their uses, particularly in a fleet. So, here is a guide to ship classes as they have been used traditionally and how they would likely be used in a sci-fi setting.
This is the one a LOT of people get wrong. A Capital ship is an anchor ship for a fleet, meaning that fleets are built around the capabilities of the capital ships. Just about every other ship in the fleet has some job relating to the capital ships, whether it be defending or tending or supplying that ship.
Capital ships tend to be the largest warships in the fleet. Capital ships also virtually NEVER operate alone. A great example
Prometheus concept art...I worked on "Prometheus" as a concept artist, and now that the movie is out I can show some of the images.Prometheus concept art...2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I will eventually post stuff here on DA, but I felt the format of my blog lent itself better to an overview of the process, and to acknowledge some of the others involved. So I decided to begin with that out of consideration to the talented people I feel privileged to have worked with!
Feel free to have a look: http://steveburg.blogspot.com/
There is an "Art of" book, which I just got - and it's quite nice! But it contains only a fraction of the art generated for the project by myself and the other artists on the team.
I worked with a small group here in the US that included Steven Messing, David Levy, Ben Procter, Carlos Huante, Neville Page & Daniel Simon. And there are other artists who worked over in the UK when the film went into full production. So you can imagine quite a lot of artwork was generated!
Procrastination is a terrible illness. You can catch it at any time...anywhere. Today I suffered from Procrastination. I tried all kinds of medicines such as videos, music, reading comments...nothing. ATalkHappy Easter everyone! I feel like... I just want to talk today. Because I think there's things I've learned and feel and think that sometimes I just want to say.ATalk2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Let's start with stories.
What I find great about any form of storytelling is how honest it is. There is no other form of shared knowledge that can teach us how to live our lives better. None. That being said, we see stories in everything. We look at a tree with a fence grown into it, and think of when the fence must have been built, who may have built it, etc. We see a couple arguing on the street and ponder as to what could have gotten them to this point. We hear a snapping twig in the woods, and plan our escape route from whatever magnificent beast lurks in the brush! As human beings, we LOVE stories. But why?
We love stories because they teach us how to live. Think about any good movie, book, or other story. It should have moved you in some way. Some stories teach us how to deal with the intense hardship

I will have to completely reorganise my breakfast schedule because of some overzealous admin. Usually I wake up, prepare nomnoms, settle in front of the computer and search for some morning drama. butthurtbrigade was one of my favourite places to acquire my morning dose of concentrated baawws. Now when it is gone I will be forced to actively search for the dramas elsewhere and I don't like that.
My breakfast should look like this:
And now for a few days will look like this. Which is mostly inconvenient and you should care because...umm...yes, because yes.
Free adviceSomeone recently asked me for some advice about going to art college and becoming an illustrator. Here's what I said. Maybe someone here will find this interesting too...Free advice2 years ago in Personal More Like This
1) It's a tough life as an artist. You need more than just good drawing abilities to get by. I know a lot of people who are WAY better than me but can't make it as artists. You need to be personable and likable. Work on your people skills and be sincere. People can tell when it's fake.
2) Learn a broad range of skills. Don't just focus on illustration, but also learn the fundamentals of design, sculpture, painting, storyboarding, etc... those skill will help you more than you can possibly imagine.
3) Be yourself. Find your own style and really refine it.
4) Don't waste your education. Don't go out and party and drink when you should be studying and doing homework. They give you that homework for a reason!
5) Always try to be the best. Challenge yourself to make your assignments the best in your class. Always try to be

100 Design Theme ListFinished this up over my vacation, and now it's going live after much rearranging and editing of the official list.100 Design Theme List3 years ago in Personal More Like This
100 design themes.
Words consist of adjectives that describe both physical and personality traits, others are color combinations, and a few are simple open ended names/titles. For each of these, the challenge is to design a character, creature, race, costume design, or whatever else strikes your fancy. Work in order, pick and choose, the idea is to have fun and expand your creature design work.

About the MInecrafters/Youtubers Life Statusokay, i've been getting attack becuz of this pic people are saying that Notch and EZ are no longer together/married ... i'm going to say this here and only ONCE!!!About the MInecrafters/Youtubers Life Status7 months ago in Personal More Like This
I'm using their minecraft skins NOT the owners themselves, like Sky and Dawn, they are no longer together, but at the time i made the comic layout they were, but i did tweak it and they just freinds/ex in the comic, but i did not remove the characters... so, if any status of the real people chance, like no longer friends with so-and-so, they're Minecraft OC will NOT reflect!!!
so... yes, in my Minecraft:The Awakening, Notch is still married to EZ (their MC skins)... THIS IS A FAN MADE COMIC!!! I don't go to people who ship Ant and CaptainSparlkez and tell them off... so plz drop it and stop sending me notes! >:E
if you tell me again they or them (or whatever) no longer together or what ever, i'll send you back here...
thank you for understanding ^_^
Traumas and LoveI have reached a point in my life where I no longer feel a need to talk about my personal life on the Internet other than funny little stories, both because from there very start people would misinterpret what I was getting at which made it feel kinda pointless, and also because I'm now more calm and at ease with myself.Traumas and Love10 months ago in Personal More Like This
But one thing I have never shared with you is why I joke about things. Obviously humor is very important to me, but I'm rarely completely honest about why I think some serious subjects are okay to joke about.
I deal with my own traumas that way.
I'm very much a Chandler ("Friends"). I don't do deep emotional moments. I make silly comics to get it out, and they are my equivalent of "You don't have to comment, just listen" and "It's okay, you don't have to feel awkward about this with me just because I've been through shit. We can joke about it"
Of course I've been an idiot, because how are people supposed to know it when I don't want to talk about it to random people on
The Extinction of the Gentlemen.Hokage report,The Extinction of the Gentlemen.2 years ago in Personal More Like This
"I was riding a public utility bus. All seats were occupied, when a group of commuters entered the bus. Most of them were girls. As the bus started to travel the road, the girls are standing, holding tight among the bars. Thus, I stood up, offering my seat to one of them. The girl happily accepted. I was hoping that the guys sitting would do the same ..but none followed, it frustrated me"
Is it really that hard to be a gentleman in the 21st century, that a mere survival of such a knight is slim? Let me define a gentleman, well a gentleman is gentle + man (what? Can't think of any definition right now heh) ..Gentle means that he is proper, conservative, ethical, morale, and simply a nice guy altogether. As the age of romanticism grew, and the rights of women became equal to men, the guys in general, saw the girls as a subject of beauty, of a fragile vase, shining under the sun. Chivalry on that moment is the code of conduct of knights. With Chivalry, they are to
