The Shadow of Fire: Chapter 2The Ranger
Somewhere in modern day Afghanistan, a lone Chinook helicopter belonging to the U.S. Army flew over the barren desert plain below it. Unlike the usual harsh weather patterns that occur in this particular area of Afghanistan, the Chinook was not in danger of being buffed by the strong winds that often cause sand storms, a very dangerous event that could cause a helicopter to jam and crash. It was good fortune that the weather was calm, as the passengers of the Chinook, a mixture of twenty Army Rangers and a few Navy SEALs, were definitely in no mood for further hardships at the moment after a solid week of heavy fighting against the Taliban and their Al Qaeda foes.
A slight bit of turbulence hit the Chinook causing one of the Rangers on board the helicopter, Lieutenant David J. Drake, a twenty-five year old Caucasian with black hair to let out a silent groan and slowly open his eyes to the rough metal innards of the Chinook's. As he awoke, his M4 rifle bumped

Medieval era Romania circa 1400s, a dozen knights, wearing full body plate armor adorned with silver crosses on their shoulders and flowing red capes on their backs that had an image of a dragon skewered by a sword on them, made their way through the murky swamp around them. Each of the knights carried a lance that shone brilliant silver each time what little light breached the heavy vegetation touched them. All the knights were riding atop various colored war horses and were heading towards a large cave opening that lay in front of them in this dismal swamp. The perfect habitat for the particular prey these knights were hunting that day. The lead knight brought up his right hand and signaled for the group to stop, which they did in a line several dozen feet away from the large cave opening. He reached with his right hand to his helms visor and lifted it up revealing a man of around 25 years of age with brown eyes and light brown hair.
This lead knight took a deep b

The members of the expedition stared up at the Gold Dragon with disbelief etched on their faces. They skittered back nervously, never taking their eyes off her huge form. To them she must have looked like a dangerous and savage monster that could end their lives in one swift strike. Li took a step forward, moving slowly as not to startle them some more. She parted her jaws to speak, to reassure them that she had no intention of harming them but Joe had regained his composure and spoke up before she could.
"I don't believe it! The whole time...the whole time we have been traveling along with a..." his throat closed around the word " ..a dragon!" Joe turned sharply to his brother and gabbed him by the arm.
It's your fault Jon! You constantly keep leading me straight towards stinking dragons!"
"What? Me? How was I to know Li was a dragon disguised as a human?" Jon spat back "I didn't even know such a thing was even possible. Heck, I'm still having tr

The tremors ceased. The ground settled, it no longer heaved and quivered. The billowing clouds of dust overflowed the immense pile of rubble where once had stood the Royal Palace of Rabat. Long after the quakes stopped, the dust continued to whirl and roll and surge. An eerie silence fell over the square, the silence of the grave. Four lone human figures, looking small and forlorn amidst the destruction; edged closer to the pit where the two fighting dragons had crashed into the ground. Bewildered and overwhelmed, Jerome, Jon, Joe and Eva stared at the disaster in front of them.
"T..there's no way any of them, dragon or not, could have survive something like that, Is there?." Joe said, his voice cracked. He moistened dry lips.
As if in an answer to Joe's statement, the tons of dirt, bricks and stones began to shift and rumble as if a giant hand was pushing up the mound of debris. Something broke the surface, a huge claw tore away at the

The Gold dragon lowered her head and curved her neck around to enclose Jerome within the circle of her neck and body. Unable to trust his voice, he gazed up at her and gently touched his fingers to her long nose. And for a moment the two just stood there. "I am here, dear one." Jerome said. With those words Li released all fears, forgot her resolve, forgot her determination to remain cautious and wary, forgot everything. There were just the two of them now and whatever truth they might find together. "This is impossible." Jerome breathed, his hand brushing lightly down Li's faceplate, along her jaw. "But I love you Miss Samurai, beyond sense and beyond reason, our forms and whatever might stand between us be dammed." Li's only response was a deep thrumming noise in the back of her throat that sent shivers down Jerome's spine. The couple was shaken out of their daydream by the rasping sound of someone clearing his throat.
"Get a lair you two." Joe said as he

London was alive in the spring. Temperatures creeped back up and the capital was bathed in glorious warm morning sunshine. Morning traffic on the good old Bridge Street was crawling forth at a sluggish pace. The driver of a classy red Bentley gripped the wheel with both hands and sighed. "Another day at the office for Arthur" he said to himself. He had been staring at the rear end of the car in front of him for five minutes now. Arthur glanced at his watch, twenty past six, with any luck he wouldn't be late at work for a change. The car in front of him abruptly jerked to a stop, Arthur had just the presence of mind left to hit the brakes. He was painfully thrown forward in his seat.
"Oh, bugger, what gives?" He was about to lower the window to give that driver a piece of his mind when he noticed something odd in the sky. Streaks of sharply defined bright orange light snaked across the skyline, clearly visible just past the London Eye. It looked a bit like the

King Izmir took another miserable swig of his cup of sake, so far his evening in the fortress Garradoun had been anything but pleasant. Even the extravagant dinner which was now being held in the main hall did little to lift his spirits. After all these years with the Order he still wasn't able to master his chopsticks. He had barely managed to bring a piece of salmon to his mouth by skewering it on one of his sticks. A quick glance to his left and right, where the other high-ranking members of the Order were seated, taught him, much to his further embarrassment, that they had no such trouble.
Across the table, General Feng was keeping a close eye on him. The youth frowned at him and Izmir returned the cold and hostile stare. Izmir broke the impromptu staring contest by skewering another small steamed dumpling with a thin crêpe paper-like wrapper on his chopstick. He plopped the bite-sized portion in his mouth and almost gagged. He

The rain was drifting down slowly and a chilly breeze swept the deserted street on this late October evening. 17-year old Thomas was just on his way home after anything long day at school, grey, listless and worn-out teachers filling your head with trivial facts and knowledge you'd probably never use again in your life, and tomorrow would bring no difference.A small sigh escaped his lips as he stuffed his hands in his pockets and continued on his way home to a probably intoxicated father and an overbearing mother.
Thomas muttered, deciding to take a shortcut trough the woods next to the railroad, at least the trees would provide some shelter. Darkness was falling quickly this ti

Dragons are the very epitome of evil. These ungodly serpents have proven to be nothing more than the harbingers of doom and misery upon mankind. Some of these spawns of Satan might try and deceive you with smooth words and miracles into thinking they are our friends and have no intention to harm us. Walk by faith and not by sight, for the unclean serpents will only try to lull us into a false sense of security and make us all their prey when our guard is down. The Chinese and other people might tell you a different story, that the appearance of these dragons all over the world is a sign of good fortune and that they will guard and protect this world. Ha! Pay no heed to these Asian superstitions. Cast out those old serpents, cast them out. Raise your voice and let them hear that this nation belongs to us humans! Humans first! Humanity First!

19-year old Bobby just came home from another lousy day at school, luckly between skipping classes he had plenty of time to pick up girls and make fun of the nerds that stalked the hallway and flush school projects down the toilet before their eyes.
Bobby was a celebirty at school, with his unparalleled sense of fashion and a hairdo that required two tubes of gel, he was allways in the centre of attention, everyone knew it and everyone saw it but when it came to brains he found himself at the shallow end of the gene pool so he simply bullied some nerd to do his homework, especially that one scrawny kid, Thomas, such a good sport. Bobby's parents weren't at home so he had the place for himself, shoving a pizza in the oven and turning on some heavy metal music, putting the volume to the maximum while preforming some air guitar riffs.
Suddenly the windows in his room revibrated as he heard a loud whooshing sound outside, Bobby even heard it over the music, h
