On my profile page, I feature a new deviation every day (or two or three). The piece is usually something that caught my eye. Could be an amazing digital painting, a fun stamp, a quick photograph that made me smile, perhaps a piece for a weekly theme, whatever. However, it moved me enough to share it with my visitors. Below is a list of the artists which I featured during November 2012. I am showcasing different pieces from their gallery in the hope of showing them a bit more love. If you would like to see the original piece I featured of each of these artists, please visit

My result: I am Severus Snape. Yes. No cheating. http://www.helloquizzy.com/results/the-remarkably-thorough-harry-potter-character-test/?var_Extroversion=36&var_Weirdness=39&fromCGI=1&var_Maturity=66&var_Arrogance=47&var_Impulsivity=23
By Salazar, I am so deeply proud but now... it explains a lot about my miserable life
Maybe I shouldn't have answered that way because loving Severus Snape shows already a specific spirit, but bearing similarities with the character... is worrisome.
Made me laugh the end of the description : "Your polar opposites are Fred and George Weasley". Oh, that is true.
What's your result? WHO ARE YOU?

Tolkien Illustrator’s First Aid Kit: Elves
Tolkien’s texts are notable for their abundance of characters, many of them mentioned perhaps only once, other playing very important parts in the stories. However, it is often very difficult to find any description of how those characters look, and this is what we, artists and illustrators, are usually most concerned with.
So here it is – Tolkien Illustrator’s First Aid Kit – a list of all those characters, whose physical appearance is mentioned in the texts, including The Silmarillion and The History of the Middle-earth.
To start with, the Elves. As we know, during the march from Cuiviënén t

The properties are:
Lets see what can we do with these new fancy stuffs!
What does these attributes do?
1) content--> it is used to insert generated content in your HTML (Journal body for DA). Don't worry, don't worry! I'll tell you what is this "generated" content!
2) counter-increment --> it is used to insert numbers (or counters) to sections or sub-sections. I'll explain what "sections" and "sub-sections" are don't worry again!
3) counter-reset --> it is used to reset the counters
All these 3 properties are generally interlinked and are used together. But the "content" property can be used alone and has some cool usage.

How to make a viking dressI used to be a part of one history reenactment group some time ago. Such groups basically reconstruct elements of daily life of people from a selected time period; my group was interested in early Middle Ages, from the 8th to the 11th century, from the Eastern and Northern Europe. Personally, I used to reconstruct a viking woman from today's Sweden areas. Most of you will be shocked, but vikings were not half-naked barbarians with horned helmets. They had no horned helmets. Really. How to make a viking dress3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Anyway, my favourite part of reenactment has always been all the suit making. Buing materials, planning, cutting, sewing (hand sewing!), embroidering. Then, wearing. Generally, viking clothes are very easy to make, though I admit that the materials aren't the cheapest, if you want to make it as much accurate historically as you can.
Our goal: a simple dress, no emboirdery. This is actually my first viking dress I've ever made.
I've prepared a simple tut
Brothers Grimm - contest #2This contest has ended. The winners announement can be found here.Brothers Grimm - contest #24 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
To be more specific, it is about their tales, but there is no objection to draw the brothers themselves. The tales you may find at grimmstories.com, if you do not have the book, of course. Pick the one you like and illustrate it or - if you are a writter or poet - you may write your version or just something that would be in a noticeable relation with one of the stories. Remember, it must fit the group rules.
No new deviation is required. Though, a new one would be much more welcomed. There will not be any separated contest folder, so please just submit your entries into the correct folders, as usual, and post a link to your deviation in a comment under this announcement. Then I will edit this entry and your piece will be featured here, so everybody could see how awesome things you can do.

Literary Compass - Vol. 7WelcomeLiterary Compass - Vol. 72 years ago in Literature Features More Like This
If one is looking for Literature, you don't need to go far on deviantART. There is a large community of writers and a plethora of work to peruse. Featuring genres such as fantasy, mystery, horror, and romance, one would be hard-pressed to find an area not covered. However, due to the nature of the site, shorter works tend to get more focus. It's easier to quickly read a poem or a short story, and thus many of the feature articles on dA showcase those works. However, there are many novelists and serial writers among the mix, oftentimes fighting an uphill battle to have their works seen and appreciated.
With that in mind, I have started an article to spotlight some of those artists and their literary-worlds. The works covered in this feature will exclusively be long-form fiction such as novels, trilogies, etc., or fiction serials.
Editor's Note: Some people feel it is questionable when a writer who publishes an article series features their own work. Mir

It is not difficult and it does not cost a fortune. All you need is a strong will to create, any other problems can be solved
You may find some of the advice written here ridiculous but this is how i began so i'm speaking from experience
- intro over -
If you are a complete beginner i would highly recommend using cheaper metals such as copper, aluminum, anodized aluminum or lacquered copper. You will ruin some to substantial quantity of wire while learning. Don't let that bring you down; it is normal and everyone who makes jewelry has gone through that phase So, unless you are wealthy, get the cheapest wire possible and experiment. Learn how it behaves. If you bend it 3 times will it break? What pressure is the best to hold it tightly without marring it with pliers? I learned on the cheapest wire available so i did not have to think THAT much about the money i was ruining with my failed attempts. You can get these in most craft or

How to take crafting commissionsTaking crafting commissionsHow to take crafting commissions1 year ago in Art Features More Like This
Accepting commissions is very different from opening a store in a lot of ways, so I decided to write a separate article for it. However, a lot of what I explained in the article "Introduction to setting up your store" also applies to taking commissions, so make sure to read that article too!
Note: I’m writing this with crafting commissions in mind, since that’s my area of expertise. I imagine that some things could also apply to other kind of commissions, but I make no promises
What is a commission?
A commission is when a client pays you to create a specific craft with their idea or instructions.
How is a commission different from sales in my store?
When you sell something in your store, people are buying your work. When you accept a commission, people are hiring you to do
