Rarity Character ReviewAt times it seems as if the character of Rarity in "Friendship is Magic" is unfairly treated. Some accuse her of being self-obsessed and shallow, whilst others contend that she is their least favourite pony. And sure, Rarity may not be the most adorable of ponies, but this does not mean that she doesn't have an appeal entirely of her own. Fans are rightly divided when it comes to Rarity, but few could deny the maturity and elegance that she conveys at every opportunity.Rarity Character Review4 years ago in Reviews & Guides More Like This
Her obsession with fashion and looking appealing can be both blatant and subtle. At times, such as in "A Bird in the Hoof" Rarity is seen leaving the party whilst demanding that other ponies remain away from her, as to prevent her dress from getting touched by their dirty hooves. Similarly, in "Dragonshy" Rarity packs an extra scarf, presumably because, regardless of the situation, she wishes to look good. These are just two examples of Rarity at her most extreme, but they are by no means the only situations where Rarit
Words are LouderBirds chirped happily in the trees that morning, as they did the morning before, and the morning before that, and every other morning since the day after Winter Wrap-up. They swooped from their nests upon the branches to collect their morning meals. The early bird, after all, does indeed get the worm. But, as Celestia's sun crept across the early reaches of the daytime sky, many ponies still slept.Words are Louder5 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
However, in a modest house near the centre of the sleepy little town, one pony defied convention, as she did every weekday morning. The blonde mare made her way down the stairs cautiously, the early morning sunlight nearly blinding her through her descent from her bedroom. She had just enough time to grab a quick bite to eat before heading off to work for the morning, and if she was anything, she was punctual.
Digging into the refrigerator, only her bubbly flank would be visible to any pony standing in the hall. She lived alone, so she made no effort to stifle the clanking of bowls, or the p
The Magic TouchThe afternoon was warm, the sky cloudless, the wind light. It was a perfect summer's day, and the cicadas were singing. In the shade of an oak tree on a hilltop, three ponies sat on a large blue-and-white gingham picnic-blanket, a game of Monopony between them. A basket nearby held the remnants of a fine lunch. The Magic Touch4 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
Overhead, a pair of winged unicorns flew through the clear skies. Behind then a brilliant red hawk-like bird followed, trailing glowing motes. As they passed over the hilltop, the smaller of the two flying ponies pointed with a hoof, then the fliers began to spiral downwards toward the tree.
The light thumps of the landing ponies startled the picnickers. "Incomin' royalty!" one of them yelled, and all three were quickly on their feet, then in a deep bow.
"Applejack! Rarity! Fluttershy! Fancy meeting you here!"
The three looked up, all smiling. "Your Majesty! Majesties, that is..." Rarity dipped her horn to Princess Celestia, then again to Princess Luna. "Such a surpri
The Girl of His DreamsSpike cherished moments like these. It was well into the night, the only light coming from the stars above and from inside Carousel Boutique. Normally, there would be no reason for Spike to be at Rarity's shop at this time. In fact, there would be little reason for him to be awake at all. He was, after all, a baby dragon (a fact that his friend Twilight always had to bring up whenever he passed out) and as such required an early bedtime. But the little guy fought his body's cries for rest as he pushed a wagon full of gems into the shop. The Girl of His Dreams4 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
"Here it is, milady the last wagon." Spike said, and bowed to the beautiful white unicorn before him. This knockout was Rarity, fashionista extraordinaire and Spike's secret crush.
"Thank you so much for all of your help today, Spike." said Rarity as she stared intently at a dress doll, assessing it's garb. "It seems I've taken on another order that's too much for me to handle. I'll have to work all night to get it right."

"Rainbow Dash?" Fluttershy's voice was as loud as she could make it as she looked for her friend in the rainbow-maned Pegasus pony's cloud-home but she was nowhere to be found! "...Rainbow? Oh dear!" She flumped onto a cloud and sighed. "Where are you? You promised you'd come and make a rainstorm for me! Oh, now what will happen to the poor little tadpoles?"
After weeks of cloud-free summer weather, the pools in Froggy Bottom Swamp were almost completely dried up and the eggs that the poor little frogs who lived there had laid had just hatched! Oh, what was she going to do without Rainbow's help? She didn't know anything about changing the weather!
Maybe she'd just wait here a little while and if Rainbow didn't come back she'd go and start collecting all the tadpoles to move them somewhere safe. Oh, that would take all day! But she'd have no other choice the rest of the

"Excuse me, Princess?"
"Just one moment!" Thunk. Somewhat dazed, Luna pulled her face away from the desk. "Come in!" she said, her horn and muzzle throbbing slightly.
Through the door trotted - oh, what a surprise! Yet another pony levitating a stack of papers about twice the size of the last. "Princess," he said, oblivious to the piercingly-annoyed glare in Luna's eyes, "The request to change the Equestrian national tree from the Holly Oak to the Bay Willow has been withdrawn, so the reinstatement paperwork needs to be filled out."
This late at night? "Alright," replied Luna, already readying her quill, "I think I can-"
"And," he interrupted, "The budget cuts for the School for Gifted Unicorns need to be finalized."
That again?! "Of course." Luna nodded, keeping her voice
Rainbow Colored Falling StarsLuna sat within her room staring out across Equestria. Ponyville lay at the base of Canterlot and stretched out far before the Everfree forest consumed all that was in sight save a few skyscrapers from Manehattan that peeked over the trees at the very edge of the horizon. She enjoyed her view of Equestria but it wasn't what she really loved to look at. Luna turned her head up towards her beautiful night sky that was adorned by brightly shining stars burning brightly from millions of miles away just for her. The stars however were the only things out tonight as Equestria had fallen silently into the night as it did whenever Luna would raise the moon.Rainbow Colored Falling Stars4 years ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
The normal chirping of the crickets and the dancing of the lightning bugs were absent tonight and it all seemed especially lonely.
Even after her sisters constant reassurance and kind words she still felt saddened.

A loud roar of laughter echoed throughout the lands of Equestria on one fateful afternoon. Following the laughter dark clouds began to form out of the blue eventually covering the once clear and beautiful daylight skies. In the closest proximity of these peculiar actions lay a quiet village. Decorating the location were only fences, small fields of crops, and basically-built homes of formed rooftops of straw. It was quite a small place, with more earth pony in

Luna stepped onto the podium and cast her huge cheerful green eyes across the assembled guests.
"Thank you all so much for coming!" she began. "I know the party's only just started, but I thought I'd like to get all the formalities out of the way first, if I may." She turned to the old silver-maned butler standing beside her and looked at him with mock exasperation. "Apparently it's compulsory that every royal engagement have a formal component to it!"
The butler nodded once, his serene expression unchanged.
Luna turned back and continued. "I'm so sorry that it's taken me so long to formally thank the Elements of Harmony for their courageous efforts on my behalf. You all risked your lives to undo the great evil that my jealousy and selfishness had wrought and prevented a titanic disaster from befalling our beloved Equestria. So let

It was the four week mark. Today, Dash was to meet the doctor who had done his best to grant her a second chance at flight. It fit in her schedule well; the Wonderbolt auditions were tomorrow.
Doctor Heartfeld was making his rounds. Though it was never necessarily busy at the Ponyville hospital, there was always work to be done. Caramel was in almost weekly with a new bump or scrape to have looked at from his clumsy work on the Apple farmland, and there was never a shortage of schoolchildren filing through with everything from scuffed knees to 'cooties'. Today, however, the most notable patient he had ever treated was on his clock.
Doctor Heartfeld entered the small exam room, the same worn look as a month before. "Ms. Dash! It's good to see you again. So, are you ready to begin your rehabilitation?"
Dash sat on the bed-like exam table. She had always hated the paper sheets on those things. "Actually, Doc," Dash b

Hello, my name is Pinkamina Dian Pi, and I suggest you pick up a much happier story. Perhaps one in which good things happen to little fillies who do everything right, and the sun always shines. If it sounds as though you would like such a story, then please close whatever form of media you are reading this on, and go to the "Normal" section of Equestria Daily, where such stories are stored. This is not a happy story, this is the story of three little fillies, and the terrible events that were to befall them.
They were not sisters, they were in no way biologically related. The only thing that tied them together was the cruel hoof of fate. A phrase which here means "Really, really bad luck". Their names were Applebloom, Scootaloo and Sweetie Bell. As far as my research -much of which was pulled from the remains of various 'accidental' fires- can trace, it all began a few weeks after Applebloom was born. Her sister, Applejack, who grew to

The Ponyville House for Girls was not a very nice place, as orphanages often aren't. It was run by Mrs.Watcher, a dour unicorn who wore her glasses on pearls around her neck and her mane in a bun, as all dour mares seem to. It wasn't that she was cruel pony, she just simply didn't see much of a point in being nice. Nice didn't get little fillies to bed on time.
Scootaloo arrived, perhaps it was on a Thursday, as bad things always happen on Thursdays. Mrs. Watcher opened the door to find a rather scorched looking Creme Cake standing on the doorstep with a basket. Mrs. Watcher had done this many times before. She took the filly without a word, put the basket in the orphan basket closet, and set Scootaloo down with the other young ponies. Same as always. Mrs.Watcher liked things to be the same, she didn't see much of a point in change. She thought it was a nasty habit. She noticed several odd occurrences that were very much not the same on that particular day,

Sweetie Belle was always a welcome sight, especially when Scootaloo was harping about some absurdly dangerous idea to try out. She just knew she'd rather live without her Cutie Mark than spend three months in traction from trying to get it.Endless Gifts: A CMC fic4 years ago in General Fiction More Like This
"Hi, Sweetie Belle!" Apple Bloom chimed, interrupting Scootaloo in the middle of the word 'freefalling.' The little yellow earth filly trotted over to her friend, greeting her with a smile.
"Oh, h-hey guys," the unicorn said nervously, forcing a smile. She tiptoed into the clubhouse as if walking around broken glass. "What's the plan for today?"
"Base jumping!" Scootaloo bounced up and down excitedly, flapping her tiny wings with gusto.
Sweetie Belle's eyes widened. "That sounds...okay." Silence filled the room as Sweetie pawed at th

"I got your back Sarge" Carmine screamed over the intense battle of the bullets whistling through the tightened air.
The battle waged between a group of two different species that had devilish aims of brutally exterminating one another, the humans and the locusts. The battle echoed around the llima sinkhole, llima used to be a city that stood proudly around Jacinto, the city which the humans were most proud of as it was one of the last cities that became the only hope for humanity; also it was described as being one of the most beautiful cities in Sera. Unfortunately for Jacinto, Delta squad had discovered what had been rocking the very soil of earth; a giant riftworm. The Locusts planned on using the giant abomination to sink the cities around Jacinto so that Jacinto itself would crumble with the same fate as the minor cities. Losing Jacinto would have put a huge void in the humans' plan to win the war.

The campfire crackled quietly, flames casting eerie shadows on Moxi and Catcher's forest surroundings as they finished setting up their tent. "So what exactly is Sugarcube Acres?" Moxi spoke up, tugging the final rope into place in erecting their shabby little tent.
"It used to be Ponyville and Sweet Apple Acres," Dreamcatcher replied, slumping down to warm his hooves by the fire, "but after the Sugarcube order was founded, the town slowly became more temple and less town, eventually everypony had either joined the order or moved on to another place. Sweet Apple Acres grew around the temple, and by the time it was complete, the apple orchards were so thick and widespread that they formed a natural barrier for the city. Applejack, the owner of Sweet Apple Acres, and Pinkie Pie, founder of the Sugarcube Order, both saw the partnership beneficial, and so when they finally achieved full control of the area, they renamed it for both."

Trixie groaned and stretched as she woke up. Her legs felt like lead. Opening her eyes revealed a familiar ceiling. It was the middle of the night, a half moon providing only just enough light to see by. Trixie wondered if she could go more than a week without passing out anytime soon. She glanced up as if to see her own forehead, and focused for a moment. Sure enough, a pale blue light emanated from her horn.
"Hah hah!" she shouted in excitement. A murmur caught her attention. She looked over and found Fluttershy asleep on her stool, just like a week ago. Trixie smiled and chuckled. She gazed on at Fluttershy for a moment, before a small part of her reminded her of her situation. Her smile turned into a deep frown. She forced herself out of bed on the far side from Fluttershy.
"I've taken enough from you." Trixie whispered. Her horn continued to glow as she enveloped Fluttershy in a magical aura. She gently lifted Fluttershy from her seat and pulled back the covers. She slid

"But Twilight!" Spike moaned, tugging at her shoulder. "You said you'd read me a bedtime ghost story! That was an hour ago!"
Twilight rolled her eyes and slammed shut the archaeology textbook she'd been studying. "Fine Spike, fine!" she huffed, trotting over to the pesky dragon and opening the tattered book he had been clutching in his paws. "But if you get scared again, I'm not staying up all night making it better!"
Spike frowned. "But Twilight, that WAS a scary story! I mean, it was a VERY hungry caterpillar! The book even had HOLES in it!" He trembled again, eyes darting round the room as if a caterpillar would lurch out of the shadows at him.

Later that day Rarity, Applejack, Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy, dressed in the new gowns that Rarity had designed especially for the Spring Moon Festival, were waiting in the Town Square in the clear and mild spring air for Twilight to arrive with their transportation.
"I thought we were going by air balloon," said Pinkie Pie with some disappointment. The truth was, she loved flying in it every opportunity she could get.

Fluttershy panted heavily as she lay on the cloud. Her wings were sore and her energy was low. She wasn't sure how much longer she could keep this up, it was exhausting her.
"Are you finished already? We've barely gotten any flying in today!" Rainbow sighed, hovering over the tired Fluttershy.
"I'm sorry " Fluttershy squeaked as she shakily got up onto all four hooves again.
"You're never going to keep your grades up if you don't get into better shape." Rainbow said flying down and forcing her on to her feet, spreading her wings and getting her into a flight stance, much to Fluttershy's dismay. "Okay, give me another speed lap around the loops. And GO." Rainbow yelled out before blowing on a whistle.
