OLD SCHOOL CRAFT MISSION 3 - STAGE 3

since Nemesis i'm just a huge fan of this series :la:
and to build this model was just pure fun
the really cool thing
meanwhile there psn released a collection for the PSP :dummy:

oh man, you can't imagine how i'm exited to get this :aww:

about the model:
the model is based on three parts
the center and the two wings
the wings are also based on three parts which have to combined
it was not easy and some pieces are very small
but meanwhile i have a feeling for this tiny pieces :D

sadly, i have to say
this model has been released only for a short time
and is not avaiable anymore
so i can't give you the link, even if i knew some other one :worry: sry

thanks a lot to :icondjp822: for inform me about the free sheets now :)

OLD SCHOOL CRAFT MISSION 3 - STAGE 2

honestly, i never played Starfox ^^;
but as :iconedsfox: asked me about to build the Arwing i came up with the idea to start this mission

i hope you like it :)

about the model:
this model is just bad ass and if you don't have any experience with papercraft, this will break your neck

the edges are just sharp and the pieces horrible tiny
(remind me a lot to the Amaterasu model)

the window is made out of foil, what was also new for me
and not really easy, because i choose a very hard one
the instruction was also one point, execpt the images i had no other references how to build this (i can't read hieroglyphics :D )

the wings are moveable from floating to rushing
(ore whatever this is called ingame :D )
and it took me a second attempt to get this system working

but it was fun, and the model looks really cool :)
if you wanna download it,

you can do this here
but be warned, you will get no mercy from this model ;)

This is a collection of renders of my finished model of the R-9 Arrowhead spaceship from Irem's classic shooter, R-TYPE. I didn't want to clutter or spam deviantART with multiple images so I decided to shove them all into one image.

I originally chose the R-9 for an assessment task requiring a vehicle modelled in 3d. It was my first time modelling something from scratch without using any tutorials. After submitting a rushed version of the ship by itself, I wanted to redo the texture and model the Force and Bits. I got rather lazy and spent most of my mid-year break working on it on and off.

My R-9 Arrowhead model and textures are based on many reference images I gathered from the internet. These included images of models from R-Type Tactics, Shooting Game Historia and R-Type Final wallpapers. Every depiction varied slightly. From these, I selected the shape and details I preferred or had the patience to recreate. I may later add more detail, such as weathering. To be honest, I prefer the current nice, shiny and clean look.

The entire model consists of 10643 triangles in total. The ship is 3864 triangles, the Force sphere is 1984, each of its four parts are 764 each, and the Bits are 868 each. I got a bit lazy here and there, and lost track of how much time it took me to model and texture everything. The modelling was done in Autodesk Maya and the texturing in Adobe Photoshop.

Here is an updated version of the model and texture composed upon a space backdrop: [link]

I recently had took the opportunity to fix up the model a little and redo the texture somewhat. More changes may be made later.

Since this was originally meant to be a wallpaper for personal use, I just threw in a random image from Google images for the background. I'm too lazy and don't have time to make my own space background. When I decided to post the image here, I did some research using TinEye and found that the background's original artist seems to be here: [link]

The model is almost finished now, but there's still like 30% detail left to do.

Cheers

Well, I'm finally done my project.

My second compilation of the ships from the R-Type universe. The little notes scattered around explain the back story to the video game, so people that don't know will get the idea behind the whole thing.

Don't forget to check out the gallery for descriptions of every ship shown in this picture: [link]

Hierarcy tree: [link]

Spent +2 months working on this. There are 102 different ships in this picture.

Now, fear my fleet!

Thanks to :iconburning-liquid: and :iconthe-danzor: for the lovely planets.
