~*~ Chapter 1 ~*~
Her father had told her not to stare, but you can’t just stamp out a child’s curiosity so easily. Away from his sight, she watched large cardboard boxes dance by over denim-clad legs from her bedroom window. The men all seemed to be from the moving company, but her father had sent her away from the front yard before she got a chance to spot the occupants that would be her new neighbors. She wondered if there would be children her age to play with. She hoped they would not be old grumps like Mr. Takeda down the street, or worse yet, cheek-pinchers like his wife. Rubbing her once-abused cheek at the thought, the girl resumed her watch. Maybe she could glean some information from the type of belongings this new person had. She took careful note of the objects the three men were carrying. Two bookshelves had gone by with boxes to fill them judging from the names on the boxes, there was a pretty wooden desk, several boxes of n

Sesshoumaru stared disdainfully around at the group of children surrounding him and looked back up at his father dubiously. He couldn't believe that he was supposed to mingle with these... lesser beings.
He glared petulantly at his sire as he made a shooing motion at him. "Go on, Sesshoumaru, go and make some friends." 'Kami knows he needs some friends, the little terror. Though why I thought one of these summer play groups was a bright idea, I'll never know. My homicidal son will never want to do something as beneath him as speak to someone who's human.'
Sesshoumaru's thoughts were echoing his father's quite nicely, even as he eyed his own half-demon brother already playing with a bunch of other kids. He looked around idly there were demons, half, and humans, even ones with spiritual powers, here in this group, but not even any o

A gilded figure watched in silence as a dejected, weary young woman made her way from the dusty, small structure, too tired and heartsore to even slide the doors closed.
This was it, the final time that trip from the well-house to the home she shared with her mother, brother, and grandfather would be made.
It was over Naraku defeated, and the other one chosen by the fool of an inu-hanyou. It was ironic, but it hadn't taken but a few days for the idiot to realize he'd chosen wrongly but by then it was too late.
Sesshoumaru, though, had been quite pleased by his brother's poor choice, and had immediately determined to be the one waiting on the other side when the little miko returned from the past that final time.
He'd done far more than that, though Kagome had never known it. He'd watched over her from the day she was born, waiting for his time with a patience born o

Little Kagome watched, quite complacently, as little Sesshoumaru scared another boy away, her best friend Sango sitting next to her, also watching the young demon frighten the coward away.
"Why'd you let him do that, Kagome?" she asked, curious.
"Because he's courting me," she replied quite calmly, a small smile on her face. "That means I'm his, and he's doing what he's supposed to be doing. Inupapa explained it to me," she finished, waiting for the little silver-haired boy to come back to her side.
"Oh," Sango said, her face scrunched up as she thought about that. "It must be kinda like what Miroku does when other boys try to touch my bum. He doesn't like that, and chases them away, too."
Kagome nodded, a serious look on her face. "Yeah, it's like that. Inupapa says no other boys

Little Sesshoumaru met his mother's rather pinched gaze calmly. "No, mother, I will not withdraw my claim on Kagome-chan. I will continue to court her, and one day she will be my Lady," he said firmly, no compromise in his chibi voice at all.
"Surely, my little Sesshoumaru, a youkai female would be more appropriate. Has not mother taught you better? Humans are too weak, and not worthy of your magnificence, your strength," she coaxed. "If you must court a female at this age, why not that nice little Kagura? She is strong."
"You jest, mother," he scoffed. "Kagura is nothing but a bully, threatening only those weaker than herself. Kagome-chan, however, is anything but weak as she's proved to Kagura repeatedly," he said, a satisfied expression in his eyes

Chattering students filled the halls of the school as the lunch bell rang, and Kagome grinned wryly at her friends. “That test was a killer,” she shook her head, “and I don't even want to know what I got on it!”
“Do not be ridiculous, Kagome,” came the voice of her boyfriend Sesshoumaru as he came up behind them and began walking with her, “you never make anything less than a ninety on any test.”
She blushed and peeked up at him, his beauty taking her breath away – as always. “Yeah, well, I hope I can uphold that record with this one. It really was a nerve-wracking one,” she finally sighed as they reached the doors and put on their outdoor shoes to sit on the lawns in the pleasant weather and eat their lunches.

Chapter 1: A Time Before Remembering...
Light seared through the darkness, pooling harshly out from the open door. A dark figure darted carelessly from the house, escaping into the elements as cries of worry chased after her. Heedless of the calls, the small figure hastened forward into the stormy night, intent on her goal.
She was running away.
With each sharp slap of her sandals, the young girl pulled further away from the solemn faces and reddened eyes of her family; from the strained whispers and pitying glances; from the harsh reality that was now laying 6 feet beneath the ground over which she ran. Rain poured from the sky in a violent deluge of ice, hiding the evidence still streaming from her eyes. Kagome could hear her mother's voice calling her, the sound closer than it should be. Pushing herself, the distraught girl quickened her already frantic pace.
The thought ripped a sob from her throat as her chest burned painfully. Turn

For one year, demons gather to choose a demoness who outshines the others by beauty, talent, wisdom, elegance, and uniqueness and is then titled as 'Hime'. This title entrusts the demoness with high power within the demon society. As Prince of the Western Land, Inuyasha is forced back into demon society while dragging Kagome along to act as his intended mate. When Kagome witnesses that Inuyasha is hated by the entire demon society, she decides to become Inuyasha's real intended mate and compete for the title of 'Hime'. This is a fanfic centering around Sesshomaru as the primary character with Inuyasha and Sesshomaru's crew with several OC's created by me.
The battle over the shikon no tama is over and the youkai lord made a silent vow to his chichi-ue that he would stop fighting with his younger brother and try to make peace.
But is 200 years of previous hatred between them too much for them to overcome?
My goal is to try to get the two brothers to be friends, try to keep them in character as much as possible and add a romantic interest for Sesshomaru that will be introduced later in the story and I may even introduce one for Inuyasha.
The first several chapters are of Sesshomaru and Inuyasha trying to connect to each other, but unfortunately, it's not an easy transition. The first of several of my oc's will be introduced in a chapter called I, Sesshomaru, Protect No One. Hope you stick around and enjoy!

Chapter 1: Beginnings
As Kagome reached the top of the shrine steps, she trudged wearily over to the shade provided by Goshinboku. Flopping down against the tree with a huff, she enjoyed the cool breeze as she caught her breath from the long climb.
Looking up into the branches, Kagome squinted as bits of light filtered through the leaves, sparkling like daytime stars. Remembering what her grandfather had told her about Goshinboku, the little girl silently made a wish, screwing her eyes shut in concentration. So lost in thought was she, that she didn't notice the light coming out of the well-house in the courtyard across from her.
With a smile, Kagome stood up, and brushing her uniform off, began to walk towards the shrine she called home. She was almost to the door when a hand on her shoulder stopped her in her tracks. Before she had a chance to turn, she heard a haughty voice address her- in a not so polite manner.

He would have to call a council and have the demon lords gather to make the best course of action available to all who were involved.
What was taking place would affect all of them and the decision would lay within the council and himself. Sesshomaru sent

Little Sesshoumaru was quite animated at the playgroup the next day as he watched over his Kagome with pleased eyes, telling everyone of her bravery in facing down a fully grown female inuyoukai his own mother. Kagome was sitting on the ground as tears ran down her cheeks, "Why? Why did you have to leave?" she said as she balled her hands up and covered her eyes as she continued sobbing. Then she looked up at the grave marker and read the inscription that was so beautifully carved into the stone, "Inuyasha". There was a bouquet of yellow lilies and pink roses, that Sango had brought to show her respect, laying in front of it. Kagome rubbed her hand over Inuyasha's name and then laid down on the wet ground in front of it as more tears ran down her face. Her clothes were soaked due to it had been raining all day. Sesshoumaru scowled at the little wolf prince swaggering around the playground like he owned it, death in his golden eyes.
He was still very angry and extremely wary of the wolf after what he'd tried to pull with his Kagome that first day he'd appeared on the playground, and, proving just how stupid wolves were, he'd continued calling Kagome 'his woman'... which was only causing the little daiyoukai to plan out his death in more and more gory detail.

Kagome sat by the dying fire, her eyes fixed upon the glowing moon. It had been three weeks since she had decided to leave Inuyasha and the rest. Her heart still ached when she thought of everyone she had left behind, but she knew it had been the right thing to do.
She shuddered slightly as the nights chill creeped into her bones, signaling that her fire was almost at its end. Sighing, Kagome pushed herself of the ground, her aching feet stinging in protest. "I could so use a bath..freezing rivers are going to be the death of me" she muttered quietly to herself, her hands reaching for her over used back pack. Pulling out the essentials she needed, she inspected her tiny morcel of soap. She sighed in resignition, gathering her meager washing supplies and slinging her bow and arrows across her shoulder.
