Using HTML on deviantART
Hello and welcome to my little html tutorial. I've been working with html codes for a couple of years and I'm going to teach you what I know about using some basic html on deviantART. This won't make you a html expert or something and I'm not an expert myself but it will give just enough knowledge to make your journals, comments, news articles and other neat and lovely looking.
deviantART actually has FAQs about html but I still wanted to do this because they look a bit unorganized, in my opinion. Also, why would you want to look for those FAQs when you can just open this news article where you have everything in one place?
You may already know some of these, but I hope you'll find at least something helpful in this news article.

A Toast to the Art ThievesPlease this news article, and help proclaim throughout the deviantArt community that Art Thieves are not welcome here! Gather round, one and all, and hear these words. Last month, the color-me-club held a coloring contest. For the first time in the club's history, we got a discouraging number of entries that were proven to be theft. People would take an existing contest entry, throw some hue/saturation wizardry on it, smear some dodge and burn, drop a spontaneous texture overlay on it, and attempt to call it their own thinking that the color-me-club is but a teeny-weeny #Group of novice digital artists.
Boy did they ever get their shit kicked in.
The fallout from disqualifying their entries and reporting them to dA staff is still descending. Yet enough time has passed from the contest's conclusion to make public my official

Your profile page is the first thing people will see when they click on your name, so it's very important to leave a good impression! This article will provide some useful tips and tricks for both premium and non-premium members who want to convert their profile into their own, unique page. First off, some Do's and Don'ts of profile decoration:
Use dA's profile widgets-- there are lots of great options to chose from
Show off some art (that's what people are here for!)
Express your personality through colors, stamps, gifs, etc.
Add so many images that your profile takes forever to load
Use garish or headache-inducing colors
Make text difficult to read with dark backgrounds
While many widgets are restricted or locked for non-premium members, there are still a variety of great widgets that you can add to your profile, even without a membership.

What's a Troll?
A troll is a small, brutish creature with a loud, piercing howl. They tend to be found mostly around forums and some chatrooms, but they've been spotted all over deviantART.
Contrary to popular belief, the troll is not an entirely aggressive species. When properly fed and socialized, most trolls are docile, fragile beings as long as they aren't overfed or startled.
Trolls tend to vary in size and stature, but one can usually spot a troll by a few identifying features. First, trolls are generally pale creatures with cramped fingers, which are often seen clenche
A probable solution to commission chargebacks.Artists who create commissions know one caveat with accepting PayPal: their Seller Protection doesn't cover services, so they can and will be SOL if the buyer decides to dispute the transaction. While Buyer Protection doesn't cover services either, PayPal is notorious for ruling in the favor of the buyer, so the seller needs to look into other ways of protecting themselves.A probable solution to commission chargebacks.7 months ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Which leads to our discussion here, of how we can leverage Seller Protection to ensure scamming buyers can't run off with the money after the service is completed -- by converting your commission service into a tangible product.
Seller Protection covers tangible products that can be shipped to the buyer, and by making a commission, you can take advantage of this by printing out your commission and mailing it to them. Right there, you have a tangible, physical item that is mailed to the buyer, and thus is covered by Seller Protection.
Adjust your commission information and terms of service to indicate the buyer is pu
PE: Daily Deviations - The Myth and the LegendDaily Deviations, or DDs . . . for some deviants, receiving one is the epitome of awesomesauce in the deviantART world. For others, they are a nice way to show off the work of lesser-known artists. Still others treat them as a special way to bring attention to great art that exemplifies works being done by a particular gallery or community.PE: Daily Deviations - The Myth and the Legend2 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Perhaps because there are so many different ways of conceptualizing DDs, there are also many myths and misconceptions. I would like to address some of those myths by responding to the ones most frequently heard. Please note that these opinions are mine and reflect my experiences with the photomanipulation community, but perhaps they will be informative nevertheless.
Myth 1: DDs should always be perfect.
To many of us, the ideal Daily Deviation goes to an artist with amazing talent whose work draws you in and makes you think, "Wow, everyone needs to see this!" A DD should move you, inspire you, and provoke you to think, b
Getting the Most out of dA: CommentingUsually, when you read something involving 'Commenting', you think of deviations and the commenting platform that allows other members of the community to voice their thoughts and opinions on the art shown. However, what is pretty evident, and something that most of us may forget, is that deviantART runs on the ability to give and get comments, be it on pieces of artwork, our profile pages, forums, and everywhere else in between.Getting the Most out of dA: Commenting2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
In a sense, without the ability to give and get comments, deviantART wouldn't be much of a website, much less #1 of online art communities around. Comments are not solely the cause of what makes deviantART what it is, but it has a huge impact on a lot of things. By giving and getting comments, not only do we interact with other members to really make this a community, we also have the ability to get our voices heard.
It's quite an odd concept with us all facing screens, typing out our thoughts and opinions, but one thing we shouldn't forget is that commen
PE Daily Deviations - So you want to suggest DDs?You're browsing deviantART or are simply checking your message centre and find a wonderful art piece. You want to suggest it as a Daily Deviation because you believe it truly deserves to be seen by the community as a whole. But how to properly suggest a DD? This article will explain the process.PE Daily Deviations - So you want to suggest DDs?2 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Things to check before sending a suggestion:
The first thing you need to check is if the artist has been given a Daily Deviation in the past 6 months. Volunteers cannot feature anyone who's had a DD in that period of time with no exceptions, as this has been hard-coded into deviantART's system.
"But how do I check an artist's Daily Deviations?" you may ask. Simply go to their gallery, click browse and scroll down. If they have any DDs, you'll be able to find a link to them at the bottom of the page. Alternatively, you can add "/dds" after their profile url and click enter on your browser's address bar.
Go [pageview] blind.I used to be just like you. Pageviews were really important to me. The first thing I checked when I logged on to deviantART each day was the number of pageviews I had received that day. I analyzed my activity and the impact it had on pageviews. It was a significant part of my deviantART life too significant.Go [pageview] blind.3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Last summer I went on a trip and was gone from deviantART for more than a month. As you can probably guess, activity in my account was nonexistent and my daily pageview count consequently plummeted. When I returned from the trip, I logged on to deviantART and, as always, checked my pageviews. I expected a sense of dismay when I saw the extent to which my popularity had disappeared, but instead, I found that it really didn't matter to me. Because I had just had the time of my life and I was not about to let my pageview count diminish that, and I was much too eager to start posting my photography and catching up with friends and groups than to worry about something as inconseq
CSS: Want a scroll box?Want a simple scroll box like this one in your journal? Here's how! Just append the following CSS code into the journal CSS:CSS: Want a scroll box?4 years ago in Personal More Like This
padding: 4px 6px;
border: 1px solid #fff;
margin: 0 auto;
And to use it, insert this HTML code into the journal text:
Insert your text here.
You can use the HTML code multiple times to create multiple boxes. For example, you can have one for your print features and one for your friends list. You can change the values of the width, height, padding, and border to your liking. If the width is less than 100%, it will automatically be centered. If you don't want it centered, delete the margin line from the CSS code.
I hope you find this useful. And thanks for using my journal skin.

Original Characters At Their Best Contest!Original Characters at the Best Contest Manga/Anime contest!Original Characters At Their Best Contest!4 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Welcome to the official Manga/Anime Contest, hosted by AwsumZ, and Nyiana-sama. We often see a lot of drawings that get recognized very well by the community, however, a lot of the time it seems that original characters can sometimes get ignored in favor of fan art. Each original character has their own story, and each of these characters deserves to be appreciated, not only by their artist, but by the wider community.
This contest is held in honor of original characters doing what they do best, whether its playing baseball, drawing, academics, or anything else, as long as your character is at their best. How you interpret this is completely up to you.
Some simple rules:
This is a Manga/Anime contest, so your entry must be drawn in a manga/anime style to qualify. No anthro, no fanart. Only Original Character in the Manga/Anime style.
Both traditional and digit
The Different Categories of Art TheftIn a particular art-theft report fiasco that my friend had to experience, I decided to clarify what it means to be an art thief. This is a hot topic it seems. Everyone's on a red alert for art thieves these days:The Different Categories of Art Theft4 years ago in Art Features More Like This
At thieves come in different forms and motivations.
An art thief is someone who posts another artist's work and gives PROBABLE CAUSE for others to potentially ASSUME that they were the -original creator- of the artwork.
There are four types of thieves that fall into this definition. Let's call them Type A ("Photobucket/Google Image") thieves, Type B ("Altering") thieves, Type C ("Trace/Copy") thieves, and the most malicious kind, Type D ("Identity Theft") thieves.
A Type A Thief (aka. "Photobucket" Thief):
Comes to DeviantART thinking it's like Photobucket or MySpace, and they post their personal favorite Google Search images because they want to show off their fav
