More and more people are using Photoshop Actions, whether for photography, photomanipulation, or other style of art you like.
The truth is that these Photoshop Actions improve the final result in many ways and make it easy for you to achieve the most incredible effects.
What are photoshop Actions?
- Photoshop actions are a pre-recorded set of actions done in photoshop to achieve a certain effect. Instead of loosing maybe 1 hour trying to get the perfect contrast, texture, or even more complex effects, just by pressing Play, you have all these steps in 3 seconds.
After I download the Photoshop Actions, how do I install and use them?
- After you download the file, in case it's zipped, you must unzip t first. The file will be something like XXXX.atn. Then you must copy that file and paste it on the Photoshop Actions folder: My Computer > Local Disc > Programs > Adobe > Adobe Photoshop > Presets > Photoshop Actions.

Sta.sh Visual Refresh
Today we have released a visual refresh of Sta.sh, deviantART's upload and publishing platform, giving it a cleaner, more modern look. One of the most apparent things you'll notice is a major change in the header, which is now white, to match the rest of Sta.sh. In addition, when viewing something in another user's Sta.sh, the topbar will display their icon and username, to indicate that you are in their Sta.sh and not your own.

Photography Troubleshooting: The Watermark FAQ"How do I protect my photography and art in general?"Photography Troubleshooting: The Watermark FAQ3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
"As Eitvys200 pointed out, at least 1 journal per month makes it to the top of the list and is about stealing art. Sometimes this is something small such as posting a piece to facebook, other times you see hoards of pieces on a website selling wallpapers or something similar. Regardless of how it happens, or where, it can hurt just as much to see your hard work disregarded and especially someone else profiting or taking credit.
Protecting work is a huge deal for some people, and not for others. It depends entirely on your outlook - how you view your work and indeed whether or not there needs to be some constrictions on it due to the content being a child, or family member. But how do we protect our work properly from art theft and wrongful use? The simple answer is you can't provide for every eventuality. Even if you upload your work to a website where right click -> copy is disabled,

(in case you didn't read that entry and don't wanna go and find it, I'll sum it up: I'm working on an animated short film about Spike and Sam.)
First: I've thought of a title for the film. It will be called "Imagine".
Secondly: I've just finished the opening scene! I mean, really finished it! with music and opening credits and everything ^u^ so, I'm a little proud now, and extremely motivated to finish the rest of the film!
The only thing I'm a little worried about is the music. I won't tell you what the song is yet, but it's from an actual artist and not from PremiumBeat or any of those places where you can purchase and use music as you wish. So, I'm worried I won't be able to use that particular song, since it's copyright that artist. And I don't think I can just write said person an email, asking "hey, can I use your song in a short film I'm making?".. right?
Or is it enough to just write in the op

This change is a little different, since it involves a feature that has been in place for a long time. We think it deserves an announcement of its own, ahead of time.
The current deviantART thumbnails (the smaller versions of deviations) have served the community well for years; however, there's always room for improvement.
Some of the problems with existing thumbnails are: they leave a lot of blank space around them, there isn't a lot of room for text for literature deviations, and the thumbnails don't present very tall/wide images well.
The New Thumbnails
Now, we've created a new style of thumbnail, which hopes to solve a lot of these problems.
We've made all thumbnails bigger! We're showing them in tidier row

:iconestunt: Some thoughts from Matt (mattdanna)
With Valentine's Day right around the corner, the word "love" is in no short supply. Stores are trying to get you to buy everything from chocolates and jewelry to vacation getaways for that special someone in your life. As someone who's been notoriously single on Valentine's Day, the L word starts to sound like nails on chalkboard leading up to the days before February 14th. Nevertheless, I thought it would be neat to explore art depicting different types of love.
In Greek culture, there are several different words for "love": philía, storgē, agápe, and éros. The Greek language distinguishes the different ways "love" is used. Philía is the type of love and affection you feel with friends and community.

"To help us bring benefit to others through our words and actions, it is useful to cultivate an attitude of sympathetic joy in others’ achievements and good fortune. This attitude is a powerful antidote against envy, which is not only a source of unnecessary suffering on the individual level but also an obstacle to our ability to reach out and engage with others. " -Dalai Lama
Those are some pretty awesome words aren't they? Think about that for a second, now think about it how it relates to you as an artist. Look beyond the "how many favs did I get on this" and instead look at what is around you, what others are creating, photographing, capturing and be inspired from what you see, not envious because someone got that pat on the back which you didn't get. If you see something which you like, tell the artist, let them know exactly what you like in the piece and what stands out the most to you. Little words like those

new project, and livestream.I''ve been working on a project for three days or so now. I haven't told you about it before, because I've learned from experience that when I tell people about any new project I have, I end up feeling there's suddenly a lot of pressure on me to actually finish the project and make it live up to the expectations I think people have.new project, and livestream.4 years ago in Personal More Like This
So, that's why I tried keeping quiet about this one...
But I can't keep it a secret anymore XD
I'm planning an animated short film of Spike and Sam.
It will only be about 4 minutes long, though. Also, I'll be doing all the animation myself.
I'm gonna use Photoshop, and After Effects (I know veeery little about this program, so if anyone has any neat tutorials they know of, please let me know).
I've started on the storyboard for it, and I'm in the process of animating the opening scene now.
I'm a newbie at animation. I've animated some short clips before, which are on my NocturnalMoTH account (probably in the scraps gallery, idk... they suck anyways XD )
CEA Blog: How (And Where) to Report DeviationsThe Galleries here at deviantART.com receive, on average, around a hundred thousand submissions every day- any way you look at it that is a lot of creative works coming in every minute of every day. Among this outpouring of creativity which we call Deviations there are, inevitably, works which could be potential problems and when members of the community find deviations which could be troublesome for one reason or another it is only natural to want to bring them to the attention of the staff here at deviantART.CEA Blog: How (And Where) to Report Deviations4 years ago in DeviantArt Announcements More Like This
Because of the various ways that a deviation might be a problem we'll focus on only one specific issue in this blog, that issue being the subject of copyright infringement.

In my past blogs we've gone over How to submit Abuse Reports and How to Report an Underage Deviant. In this blog I'm going to give a breakdown of each category in the Copyright & Etiquette portion of our Support Center Contact page.
So why is filing reports or inquiries in the right category important?
Picking the right category ensures the right staff members are reviewing your ticket as soon as possible. Filing a ticket in the incorrect category requires that we escalate it to the correct team for review and this can potentially add time to the wait for a response. Take a quick look through the categories and pick the best one for your ticket. If you're still unsure, fear not! We'll go over the categori

As this community has grown so much over the years, so has the amount of invalid stock and resources that have been provided by some deviants. The Stock and Resources community feels like this reflects negatively on them, the volunteers have a hard time trying to teach people about valid stock and how to use it correctly, and it gives an appearance that deviantART Staff tolerate so-called “art theft” or copyright infringement.
In this article our aim is to reinforce our policies regarding stock and stock use and clear up some misconceptions.

10 Tips for Taking Better PhotosA good photo is key to selling your plushie online. Your customer can't hold it in their hands and look at it from all angles, so it’s up to you to provide clear, sharp photos that will capture their interest and convince them to buy from you.10 Tips for Taking Better Photos3 years ago in Personal More Like This
1. Use a tripod. A steady camera means a sharper image, and lets you concentrate on framing the shot. You can get a small, simple, perfectly satisfactory tripod for about $10, or in a pinch you can prop your camera on a flat surface If for some reason you are obliged to hold the camera, grasp it with both hands, draw your elbows in until they touch, press your arms as tightly as possible to your chest, and hold your breath while snapping the photo.
2. Unlike most subjects, plushies aren't going to fidget, so you have plenty of time to compose your shot (if your plushie does start fidgeting, run away as fast as you can and call an exorcist). Make sure the plushie is centered and fills up most of the frame. Most c

I already wanted to host the project a couple of months ago but I never have been motivated enough to write a proper description for it. I am still not really motivated at all but I guess I have to force myself to get motivated again so I am releasing the Project now.
This Project is different to the Projects that I have hosted so far, this time many deviants will work on one Emoticon.
You might ask yourself now "how the hell can that be achieved?", well let me explain what I had in mind.
Every deviant who decides to participate in this projects will get 20 frames. In these Frames the deviant can do whatever he/she wants but they have to continue the work of the previous deviant.
My goal is that we have 600 frames at the end of the project, while I created the first 20 and the last 20 Frames (to loop the animation). This means that max 2
