Monthly Food Challenge
It's a new year, so we're changing things up a little bit. Starting in January, a three month premium membership* will be randomly drawn from the members that participate in the challenge. This also means that we will be extra picky with those that do not follow the rules.
Theme of the month
This month we want you to not create clay food, but create food related items!
Example: plates, cutlery, cake stand, blender, teacups, spatula. Make whatever you want as long as the items are primarily made of clay and that they fit the food context.

An Introduction To Fine MetalworkingCommunity WeekAn Introduction To Fine Metalworking1 year ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Co-written by melzika!
Fine metalworking is most often considered a medium for jewelry making, although it can be used for other works as well. Many artists have made wall pieces, sculptures, reliquaries, vessels, and other less traditional works with metals. Fine metal is a very versatile and exciting medium that challenges the artist to create beautiful works of art from something that, at first glance, might seem very hard, rigid and unforgiving. Fortunately crafters have been working with metals throughout history, and contemporary artists can still rely on the techniques of those pioneers to see metals in a new light - as soft, malleable and functional.
This article will introduce you to some of these basic metalworking techniques. This is in no way meant as a tutorial, and reading this article won’t qualify you to begin working immediately in metals. There are a lot of safety precautions involved in working wit
#Fella - About: CommentingComments are an integral part of our everyday deviantART life - we communicate with each other through comments, give and get feedback, critiques, or have the most interesting conversation whose origin is one simple comment on a deviation or journal.#Fella - About: Commenting3 weeks ago in Deviant Events More Like This
This article is all about commenting, including a few commenting tips and thoughts on commenting by fellow deviants, as well as some resoures you might find helpful for commenting.
Keep in mind what kind of deviation it is you're commenting on, as there are different things to focus on in a visual artwork (e.g. colours, shading) than a literature piece (wording, grammar), for example. (DerangedSenpai)
You can use the "sandwich" technique for commenting: start with saying something positive, put negative comments in middle, and also end with something positive. (Sachi-pon)Be specific with your positive and negative statements. Don't just say "It's cute", but mention a reason why you think it's cute; w

How to beat procrastination (part 2)Most of the excuses for not drawing is lacking of ideas. On part 1 of this journal I explained why I find it useful to keep a notebook with you, and to write down your ideas whenever possible. How to beat procrastination (part 2)6 months ago in Deviant Events More Like This
This second part is about developing the habit of drawing. Hope you find it useful!
Create the habit of drawing
First thing to know about creating new habits is that it works kinda like inertia law:
"An object at rest will remain at rest unless acted on by an unbalanced force. An object in motion continues in motion."
Which means that the more you postpone your drawings the more you'll feel like delaying them. This procrastination abyss can be endless. For instance, I didn't draw anything in 2013 until the end of August when I bought my fi
How to draw during 365 daysHow to draw during 365 days5 months ago in Deviant Events More Like This
By the beginning of 2014 I started this account and uploaded a doodle a day during a year. It was the most challenging thing I ever did and it helped me loads on improving my art.
I've seen a lot of mentions on my inbox about artists that are starting their own 365 Days challenge and I want to write this journal to share what I've learned through my experience and maybe encourage some of you to join this long term journey.
It's okay to start simple!
My first doodles were waaay more simple than the other ones. If I had to start the project again I would still do them simple. Of course, starting this challenge is very exciting but it's a dead end if you put a heavy load on yourself at the beginning!
Focus on knowing your pace first. How much time does it take you to finish your drawings?

Mortal Kombat 1: A Script OutlineI suppose I should start by explaining what this is.Mortal Kombat 1: A Script Outline3 years ago in Literature Features More Like This
As some may already know, I'm a big fan of the original MK timeline, the way the story was before the 2011 reboot, and always wanted to see the story play out consistent to established canon in an actual narrative, a desire which MK9's Story Mode obviously did not fulfill, what with the changed timeline and rushing through all three games in only a few hours.
Over time, as I've worked on the costume redesigns in my gallery, I've come up with story ideas to go with them, and I got inspired to actually write out the story of "my" MK universe, game by game, with the intention of developing the characters, expanding their stories, making sure the tournaments followed an actual logical bracket, even explaining origins and powers and the purposes of all the fighting arenas and crazy little details like that.
I considered doing this as a full fanfic in some form, but it became clear over time that that would be far too time consuming and I'

Why I still draw mangaYou know what's the funny thing about getting older and (apparently) more serious with art? People ask you why you don't 'move on' with it.Why I still draw manga9 months ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Over the last few years, as my interest in art in general grew and I attended more traditional art workshops, the question that was most asked to me was:
"Why don't you move on from that manga style of yours?"
Implying that manga was a childish thing to draw, and that when I wanted to go anywhere more serious with my art, I would better move on to a more mature and realistic style.
Now, as some as you know I have close to no intention to go professional. It would take the fun out of drawing, in my opinion. But it honestly bothers me people see manga in such a negative light nowadays, especially considering we live in an era in which manga artists like yuumei, sakimichan or GENZOMAN (and many others) have build solid careers on their manga drawing skills,

Revelations ReviewAN: Yo holy shit I didn't think this review would get so long. TL;DR son I am disappoint.Revelations Review3 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
First I had my Pre-Release Opinions Journal, but now I can give a more legitimate opinion of how I feel in particular about Resident Evil: Revelations. I was lent a Nintendo3DS by mah cuz; Unirizz along with the game. Thanks gurl! Oh and also, spoilers below.
To be fair, I think what killed this game for me honestly was all the reassurance. "Leggy you HAVE to try this game, it's so scary, it's a true survival horror game, it's a step back to the original Resident Evil's, I swear you will love it!" No ill will to the people who told me these things though- I was happy to be given the chance to actually play it, but not "excited" if that makes any sense. Despite those words of reassurance though, I guess in a way it did get to me on some level, beca

I went to bed so late, it was friday, I didn't turn off my computer and left several programs and the web browser open.
Next morning (saturday) my dad phoned a computer specialist because we were having internet conexion problems.
Ok, my dad came into my room with that guy at 08:30 a.m. YES, I was sleeping like a pig and they came into my (dark) room without even asking (sometimes my dad can be so retarded that creates this kind of rude, uncomfortable and surrealist situations unintentionally)
When that guy saw me on bed was like "WTF is all this :iconwtfisthisplz: but this man paid me so I must do my work(?)". He sat on my chair and started to close programs in my pc to work properly. My dad was standing on his right and looking
