Be patient and read everything. Tell me if sthg remains unclear as soon as you can.
I am looking for a set of new sample params that will be included with the next Mb3d x2, that will be a formula update + a param update.
You CAN CONTRIBUTE AND YOUR NICK will be in the param name.
Resulting images must be elegant, incisive and clean, with a stepwidth of 0.5 to min 0.3! I will be very exigent with those requirements! Sample images are examples of elegance in my eyes.
no decombines. (ALTERNATE MODE each formula can have any number of iterations 1 to 20, leave maxiter to 60 as it's fast to render). And no weird looking images. Remember the elegance rule, fractals are not random
Use neutral colors. That means; not full hue ones, prefer those more grey-ish, in general. You always can use coloured lights (just not use all the colors in the spectrum at once if possible) - and you can use dynamic fog also AND any other option in postpr
Mandelbulb 3D Tutorial 5: Tips and TricksFrom time to time, I still manage to stumble across new 'tricks' in MB3D. I'm sure some of the following tips are known to others, but for those that haven't discovered them, I hope they will help in the future. Some of these were discovered accidentally, others were found through desperation while trying to solve problems.Mandelbulb 3D Tutorial 5: Tips and Tricks2 weeks ago in Personal More Like This
The first one is very simple and just a little bit of a time saver.
Loading Diff maps ~
This was discovered by accident. It may be well know for all I know, but I just recently discovered it. In the light panel under the Global light tab, there is a box you select to load a diffuse map (Diff map). This is used to color your image in different ways, such as making it look like the structures surface is textured. Normally you simply select the box (Use a map for the diffuse color) and the number one map in your folder loads. If you want to change a map, you just scroll with the up\down arrows to a different image number or input a number if you know which map n

I'm so excited I can't even. To do my job properly, I will need your help as community.
If you have any idea that you'd like to put into practice (contests, special features...), or any other problem or questions, feel free to send me a note. Every opinion matters.
Moving on...one of the privileges I got with this new position is that I can feature Daily Deviations. It's not something I'm obliged to do, but I will gladly bring super awesome fractals to the attention of the whole dA community. You can send me a note to suggest a piece you feel it's underappreciated and/or deserves to be seen by everybody.
First of all, keep in mind that a Daily Deviation is a feature, not

Further to my last journal entry about the release of the alpha version of Mandelbulber;
I'm happy to announce that the finished version - v2.02 - of this superb 3D Fractal renderer is now available for free download!
Get it from: http://sourceforge.net/projects/mandelbulber/
Mandelbulbers' creator Krzysztof Marczak, has the following to say about its features:
"This is first release of Mandelbulber v2. The program was rewritten from scratch to have a nicer Qt based user interface. I hope you like it.
What is new compared with the old Mandelbulber?
- user interface is based on Qt 5 environment (before was GTK2+)
- instead of separate windows, there is big main window with all functions grouped in moveable and detachable docks (View/Save window state stores favorite window configuration)
- most edit fields have sliders to set value by mouse. Edit fields where range of value is very high, have a slider with logarithmic scale.
- new camera-target functionality and

Celebrate St. Patrick's Day with us!March 17th is traditionally known as St. Patrick's Day, a time to celebrate the Irish, feast, and enjoy all things green. It commemorates Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. Among numerous achievements, St. Patrick banished all snakes from Ireland, at least according to legend. Today, there are parades around the world to celebrate the day. And for many, St. Patrick's Day is a reminder that spring is on its way!Celebrate St. Patrick's Day with us!3 years ago in DeviantArt Announcements More Like This
But, of course, there's more to Irish culture than green, clovers, and good luck. One of the many interesting traditions of the Irish culture involves the Blarney Stone, found at Blarney Castle outside of Cork. Visitors come from all over the world to participate in the castle's famous

Over the years I have produced a range of tutorials on artistic use of the computer. Most of them concerns rather general concepts and can hopefully give something regardless of which program you are using or even be of some interest for traditional, non-digital artists. Some examples of my art can be found in the gallery.
That said, to get the most out of these you should know that I mainly use the open-source image manipulation program GIMP. I also work a lot with the painter program MyPaint. These are both very powerful programs capable of great artistic expression. Being open-source programs, they are both legally free to download and use without any cost. They exist for many platforms, including Linux, Mac and Windows, so they are worth trying out if you haven't already.
The tutorials listed below tend are (ver

Mandelbulber v2.0 Alpha Now Available!Hi folks!Mandelbulber v2.0 Alpha Now Available!6 months ago in Personal More Like This
Although our group is called 'mandelbulb3d', we also include the 3D fractal programs 'Fragmentarium' and of course 'Mandelbulber'. Well, some exciting news concerning Mandelbulber has recently come to our attention; the program's creator Krzysztof Marczak
:iconKrzysztofMarczak: also known as 'Buddhi', has just released the latest test version of this excellent software. Version 2.0 Alpha now has a single window GUI, as opposed to the multi-part interface of previous versions, and this new version seems to operate in quite a similar manner to Mandelbulb 3D!
Although I personally haven't yet had time to have a good play with the software, I will definitely be spending some serious time with it over the coming weeks, until the 'official' release of the final version of Mandelbulber 2.0.
I actually began my 3D fractal explorations using Mandelbulber v0.80 way back in 2010, and loved its lighting and final render quality. But, subsequent releases demanded

After a recent pool i had, it seems like people miss more tutorials and guides to photography.
So i am gonna give it my best and make this easy and hopefully helpful.
No absolute answer to everything, but things from my point of view, including some facts.
Advanced facts that sounds sexy will not be included here, Mostly because you don`t need that information to take great photos.
But i will give you url to all the major subjects so that you can read in-depth about them.
First things first, you gonna need a camera, the question on everyones lips is; What camera should i get?
Whats with the freaking megapixels? what is a dslr?
A digital camera/Point and shoot, does not give you the opportunity to change lenses.
Meaning, that the zoom and usability of the lens is as it is.
That does not make it horrible, but for photographers who work with Macro and wildlife photography, that requires a zoom and a magnification that a point-and-shoot c

PSD TIPSPSD colorations can be a pain in the ass if you don't use them right. Not all images will fit all colorations. And sometimes you don't get the desired results. So how, the hell, are you supposed to know which PSD works for your image?PSD TIPS1 year ago in Personal More Like This
The good news, there are things you can do to get that pain in the ass out. There are things you can do to get the best results possible, and get the best potential out of the coloration. So I put together this list of tips for all PSD coloration users who want better results.
#1 – Use high quality images. Sounds obvious, but it makes a real difference.
#2 – Add a little depth by duplicating the image twice, set the top one to Multiply, and the middle one to Screen. If needed, add more of these layers, and play with the Opacity and Fill.
#3 – Duplicate the image and set the top one to Soft Light. You could also combine that layer with a Gaussian Blur effect (set to about 2.4 - 2.7) and also a S
Macro Photography - Detail not Visible to the EyeMacro Photography - Show the Detail not Visible to the EyeMacro Photography - Detail not Visible to the Eye7 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Approaching macro photography for the first time can be full of ugliness especially if your first attempts fail badly. Many beginners discover the Depth of Field (DoF) is very small, images are out of focus because the focus is critical in macro photography with the small DoF, Camera shake and subject movement (due to using longer shutter speeds to allow for small apertures and/or not using a sturdy tripod), increased noise (if you use a higher ISO to compensate for the small apertures needed), or badly composed photos. And this can get frustrating.
(the following was already covered in my first article Welcome to the
World of Macro but here is a reminder)
Macro Photography requires special equipment which can get expensive, but so what we photographers like to spend money on equipment. Without some form of macro equipment you will not be able to

Finding your style in photographyLast week I did a poll on what subject you would be most interested to hear my opinion about. The majority wanted to know on "Finding your own style" (http://gilad.deviantart.com/journal/poll/264778/). Here are some pointers on that.Finding your style in photography7 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Photography has been here for a very long time. Every category in photography already been tried, most places have been photographed, portraits have been done, special techniques, weather... So what do we still find exiting and unique?
The answer is not in "what's being said", rather in "the way we say it". It's not the subject of the photo, rather the way we take it, show it, make our own definition of it. If you group 20 photographers in one scene, all having the same cameras, you will still get many different photos. On the other hand, you can tell which photo is who's just by looking at a photo - recognize the style. I have to say that finding your style is not a process you are aware to. It happens while doing photogra
