The Flood_ We are Japan..The water gently lapped against my feet, teasing and silently calling to me.The Flood_ We are Japan..4 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
It's plea a desperate humble cry. A song for the world as it helplessly stands by.
I look out amongst the land searching what was once dry land only to see destruction staring back at me.
A melancholic time for all those underneath.
Searching for the faces of those they dearly love.
I to search all the faces I see. Not searching for a relative but for a signal to breathe.
My breath caught the moment I heard.
My heart broke the moment I saw..
For in my soul I knew.
I dreamed it once before.
Awakening those many days ago once again drowned within my subconscious. The tide leaving a lasting memory yet I shook it off as a minor thing.
If I only knew then.. But who would believe such a thing.
I remember my fear as we raced to land. The sea a fierce predator behind. Rushing upon as a speeding train. Tearing apart the pieces of my mind.
My sister in tow on my heels and my neice in my arms push my pulse into overdrive
Puppet dance Tears pull the strings of the puppets facePuppet dance5 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
Each drop a cord that puts this puzzle in place.
My wooden jaw turns up in a smile.
My eyes blink rapidly somewhat beguiled.
These little puppet legs and little puppet hands
may be stiff and wooden,
but perform the puppeteers commands.
Who is this master?
The puller of my strings...
The see'r of my soul who makes me do these things
He gives life to every limb.
Tells me when to stay and when to go.
Without my puppeteer's guidance there wouldn't be a show.
Though constantly smiling with my eyes lit up like stars...
my body would remain lifeless
if in my masters hands it were never carved.
I Am A Woman StereotypedI Am A Woman StereotypedI Am A Woman Stereotyped3 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
I am covered as marble
White liquid forming steel
Around my body it tightens
Clinging to every curve of fragile form
I am a woman
Silenced by the stone
Colorless without label
Invisible is my home
I am a woman
Statue they whisper
As the goddesses of old
More beautiful than Aphrodite, a work of art
I am a woman
Choked by the brick
Waters melted thick
Pouring down my throat
Take my place they shout defiling me so
Be what I am...
What they "think" I should be
I am a woman... Stereotyped
The Worth of a RoseThe Worth of a Rose4 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
What is the worth of a rose,
Whose seen too many winters?
Where petals fell and thorns cause splinters...
The seasons change and the loveliness fade.
An age worn flower
That's seen better days.
Tarnished and lifeless its unable to bloom.
Until it regains its color... until it feels worthy.
Vibrant and vivacious
Lovely in its own right.
Enchanting and delicate.
Gorgeous and full of light.
Able to stand strong.
Able to live on.
Able to see its own beauty.
Able to know its own worth...

I AmWhen you are cryingI Am5 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
I am sobbing
When you ache
I am hurting
When you break inside
I shatter all over
When you reach out
I am holding you
When you are falling
I am lifting you up
I feel your hurt
I know your pain
How it is to stand in the rain
I understand your anger
I know the feeling
I know what it cost
I cry with you
the tears that fall
will not fall alone
I will hold you
when you fall
I will rock you
when you cry
I am here
I am yours
I won't let you go
I won't forget you
I'll be here
Death of LoveCome one, come all, come all to seeDeath of Love4 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
A faded memory.
Let this hellish void replace
A love that stood time and space.
For in those eyes I can see
The steady growth of misery
With a sudden rise of malice and hate
No more love granted in this fate
And as this soul falls from grace
It is welcomed with death's embrace
For the blooming rose it once sought
Now withered and filled with wrought
And love does fall
To its death and the end of it all
The Two OceansI hear a whisper in the air. The flow of salt caressing my senses as I step towards the window. The Two Oceans3 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
I see the water then.. Flowing endlessly, lapping against the bricks. An ocean of dreams.. I feel
at peace. The color a deep shade of blue reminding me of the waters of home. I love and am
loved by the sea as it calls out to me. Another wave crashes upon the bank.. A rich violet massaging
the coral by the shore. It creeps like velvet silk wrapping it's claws around it. Both seas calling to me.
Hauntingly stalking my window to the world. Which should I choose?
Inside These EyesCatch a breathInside These Eyes4 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
Catch a sigh
Let it out
Look at it
Look at why
Think it through
Just don't cry
Stand on up
Stand on by
Gain some strength
Hands held high
See the end
See the sky
No more wounds
In these eyes
To LolaI have a best friend. To Lola2 years ago in Emotional More Like This
Her name is Lola. She's been with me for a few years and I can't imagine my life without her.
I told her once that, if it wasn't for her, my world would be a gray place and way too quiet. She brings life and color to me, in a way that only a true friend can.
Lola is red-headed. She has blue eyes and very, very thin body. Her smile could light up a whole city and her laughter makes anyone fall in love with her. She loves bracelets, dream-catchers, earrings, shoes, books, music, gossip and staying in bed, groaning that it's not time to wake up yet.
She is the biggest part of my life.
I talk about her all the time, even to people who never knew her. I go "Lola likes that" or "Lola hates when someone says that", and I don't even notice.
We had a few misunderstandings and fights along the way, as well as a couple of poisonous words we spilled at each other faces, but that doesn't mean Lola and I don't love each other. In fact, I love her more than I ever loved any
Breathe AgainInhaling the sweet oxygen of your breathBreathe Again5 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
as I emerge from the dark depths
of the past,
of my mind,
Struggling to stay afloat,
scrambling for purchase,
I grab for anything
and you are there,
wrapping me in the warm embrace
and I know I can breathe again.

As the bones lay bleaching
in the desert sun,
a man came stumbling by.
As the sun beat down
upon his naked head,
he stopped to ponder why.
Having been lost
for many days,
His mind was in
a heavy haze.
As his thoughts focused
on the bones again,
a tear came to his eye.
And then he continued
upon his way,
It's for a man
A Poet IsA poet is a liar with a silver tongue pen, and a bleeding heart on the other end.A Poet Is3 years ago in Traditional Fixed Forms More Like This
We are anagrams and metaphors and sphinxes in sheep skin.
Every letter is an actor that we send into the wind,
And we're only as good as the words you believe in.
What They Call LoveI waited years for this very moment,What They Call Love5 years ago in Urban & Spoken Word More Like This
the timing before
for some reason
just never felt right.
A couple of opportunities
had rose in the past
I had decided to let them slip by.
Why did it always seem
one of us
was going through
some type of rebound,
never at the same time?
I didn't want to risk the conceivability
that this might be
silly, schoolboy crush.
When there actually could be a possibility
that this could maybe be
so much more
then all of the other relationships,
we previously had before.
Hoping that eventually in time,
that this would somehow come to be.
Never could I have possibly imagined,
what it would feel like
waking up next to you.
The warmth and the scent of your body
the sweet tenderness
of your longing touch,
I always knew deep within my heart,
this is what they call love...
