The difference between Genre and Setting
GENRE is a story structure, that has consistent elements regardless of the world it is told in. It can be told in any setting. TBOS will have the following Genres, although they will not be in this order (Note that there will not be a Genre in the final round):
Fairy Tale/Myth, Horror, Mystery/Crime, Romance, Western
SETTING is a place in which stories can be told, but do not necessarily have their own structure.
For example, Fantasy is a SETTING. Fairy tale is a GENRE. I can tell a fairy tale in any setting (Space, ancient earth, modern day). I can't tell a fantasy story in a non-fantasy world. This is also why Western is a genre, but Science Fiction is not. (Firefly, anyone?)
